If you think the NHL lacks class, try watching the thug leagues (NBA, NFL) or the divers and showboaters heaven known as soccer - these are teamsports without class. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with playing tough and physical. It's not the Bruins or anybodies else fault, that Holland believes you can win with a soft european style of hockey. I hate to break to you but this "holier than everyone else attitude" doesn't fly, the Wings also were known to be a very skilled and also team. Sometimes players are crossing the line in order to send a message to the other team, nothing wrong with that. Guess what ? I would have enjoyed this season a lot more, if someone would have stood up to Lucic or other tough guys and challenged him to a fight after his spear and I don't care if that's classy or not. The Bruins are a role model when it comes down on how to build a playoff winner and to be completely honest I think this soft euro styled hockey is very boring. Nobody in the whole league fears our fourth line and sadly it looks like they don't even know themselves what they are supposed to do. Yes, Boston has an idiot like Marchand but they also have a lot of classy guys such as Campbell, Bergeron, Thornton - told Marchand to shut the f*** up - former Tim Thomas, Krug, Hamilton, Chara, Kreji. The style of hockey Holland dreams about only works if you can outskill your competition and this series should have shown everyone how far away the Wings are from outskilling the top teams in the NHL, so another approach will be needed (something like top 9 bottom 3). I don't care if fights, hard and clean checks are classy they are part of the tradition of the game so no reason seeing this team getting pushed around without pushback next season. In terms of Matt Cooke they for whatever reason are lacking balls. btw. I think the NHL is by far the league with the most classy and down to earth players when it comes to major sports.

There is a certain guy known as John Tavares just saying. Vanek is not what this team needs he CAN go hard to the net but he also can go mia. I'd rather invest those 7,5 annually into an elite defenseman.

lol Mrazek is getting so overrated, guy hasn't even played 10 NHL games yet and people magically think he could fix all the problems with this team... Howard and Monster may not be elite but a good defense is much more needed than another unproven goaltender. The first pairing is not good enough making that pairing better automatically improves the whole defense so somone like Letang, Niskanen or - if available - McDonagh should be priority #1

That line-up is again way too soft and if people are furious with Franzen floating watch Vanek having one of his stretches. Matt Moulson for 4,5 not gonna happen the guy wants to get paid.

u o Nashville is not that far away from icing a dangerous team, their goaltending and D is set they'll get a very good offensive forward in this draft and some young players are on their way.

It wasn't worth it back then and it certainly isn't worth it right now. If Jarnkrok doesn't go home to Malmö this trade will turn out to be a disaster but it's done now.

Positives: Holland wanted answers he has them now: Team needs to get bigger, meaner, tougher and still younger. Re-sign Dekeyser, Monster (if he wants) and bring in defensive help plus 2 enforcers. DONE Mule, Alfie, Legwand, Bertuzzi, Miller ...... DO NOT sign someone like Jagr, Selanne... play the young kids add toughness and look hard at the Boston model that's the way to build a playoff winner. Boston is the team coming out of the east and hopefully they are facing someone not name Blackhawks
