I love it, when hockey players are doing something like this way to go Tootoo way to go. The smile on this kids face is amazing, so happy for him

GDT ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)
frankgrimes replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
I think ever after the LA Kings won the cup as the 8 seed people seem to be thinking the cap between 1 + 8 isn't that back. Sadly most people forget how LA was supposed to be one of the cup favorites before that 2011 season started. The Wings are simple out-matched by a much better team, period. The matchup is a steep and tough learning experience for our young kids but something - I'm very sure - they are going to learn a lot from. The Wings were one bounce away from evening the series but that didn't happen and there is no shame in losing against such a well oiled bear. Boston is by far the best team the Wings have faced in many years. Detroit threw everything trhey've got at them still wasn't enough, sometimes the opponent is just better. -
Nothing has worked so far so why not try size, park him in front of the net and hope for some deflections.

For sure, Gus like the other Gustav is a big reason why thisteam is in the playoffs for the 23time in a row. In all honesty I think he will be looking to sign somewhere else and become a starter, guy deserves it and some places will for sure have ope roster spots come off-season.

Zetterberg and Bertuzzi should help a bit. Anyway this game is as close as a must win as it gets. -
ECQF - Series C - Penguins versus Blue Jackets
frankgrimes replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
brilliant Bylsma system there again, reminded of the goal the US gave up against the Fins 5 men standing there watching the other team with the puck... I'm happy for the Blue Jackets such a hard working team, Davidson has done an amazing job turning them around. -
Matt Cooke offered in-person hearing for knee hit

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=716017&navid=nhl:topheads Wow under the CBA he is not concidered a repeat offender but they take his history into account at least something I guess. To make things even better he can appeal the suspension -

well 7 better than nothing but whatever it was I would not have been satisfied because it's Matt ******* Cookee -
See and that's exactly the point. Such a player wouldn't take away much, a #14 forward doesn't offer anything a hardnosed "goontype" player at least keeps the other team honest. There is a reason why nobody is ******* around with Monahan or Baertschi and even if they try it, McGrattan steps in and the case is closed. To me our young guns are looking intimidated and somewhat unsure of themselves, it's a good but a very tough learning experience for them. More importantly hopefully an eye-opener for Holland and his anti-enforcer/toughguy stance.

Magic Man has Baby, Hank skates first full practice

Reminds me of the Tango de la muerte ..and now you are bragnant that's the magic :-) If someone can pull it off it had to be the magic man -
Brian McGrattan, Colton Orr, Steve MacIntyre, Patrick Bordelaux someone of that pack is hugely needed then - which is hard to find - defensive help Pittsburgh likely won't have the money to re-sign him so maybe there is a slight chance at Niskanen but I would prefer someone like Luke Schenn (big mean, physical and nasty)

Well said it would be hilarious "as you can see here the guy is going for the same cheapshots I've been known for, I got 15 games so he gets 15 too" then...video... this is a cooke like a hit, so the departement of players safety has suspended player x for 15 games according to the cooke rule. -
Kindl didn't like the pick then and for sure don't like it now.

As far as crowd engagement goes look at this, so unbelievable hopefully someday we will have something like this in europe, NA

It's an Adam Proteau article so I won't read it but yeah Weiss has been a big flop I have almost forgotten that we signed him *lol* But it will not be a big problem capwise we can always put him on LTR and his salary won't count against the cap.

GDT ADQF | Game 3 | Boston 3 @ Detroit 0, BOS leads series 2-1
frankgrimes replied to FlashyG's topic in General
Not only an AHL team playing in the playoffs, it's an AHL team against the best team in the east and one of the heavy cup favorites. The only chance to beat them is an almost perfect game, Boston - sadly for us - is just that good. -
Toronto would be absolutely stupid getting rid off Jake Gardiner, he had a rough year because Carlyle has this stupid idea that every player has to play his roles. Gardiner needs to work on his defensive game but he can be a very good offensive weapon and has a ton of potential. Toronto needs a coach, who is letting this team play to their strengths instead of trying to force his playstyle onto them. I hope we can re-sign the monster but I doubt he might want to be a starter somewhere.

Matt Cooke offered in-person hearing for knee hit

They should tell him in no uncertain manner that this will be his last suspension after that he is GONE. It's funny when all the soccerwriters are claiming that "fights are giving hockey a bad name" no, it's douchebags like him who don't care nor respect the wellbeing of other players. And I would say exactly the same thing if Cooke would be a Wing, well I guess not because I wouldn't cheer for a team giving him a job. Must be nice when he is coming home to his loved ones and tells them what he accomplished today...disgusting. -
too bad after all the stuff Tampa had to deal with, they get swept not fair Lindback will head back to Sweden I guess.

Matt Cooke offered in-person hearing for knee hit

The guy is just a POS I still can't believe the league allows him. I want to see some enforcer absolutely lay the fist of no mercy on him and end his disgusting "career" in my eyes he is a cheapshot artist and nothing more. This guy really makes my blood boil I just can not believe the stuff he is getting away with. -

They should throw him out for at least the first round, personally I'd ban him from the playoffs he just doesn't get it. I mean how can you not be concernced about this guy, he just doesn't respect other players nor their health. -
Yes and I absolutely hate them, you are paying around 100 bucks to wear a jersey with advertisements although you only want to represent a club it's garbage. We also have teams who are changing their colors! in order to fit the ones of their sponsors...

Sad to hear this best of luck to you and prayers for all his loved ones. I'm sure Probert, Ryp and him will watch it up there. -
Indeed stuff like this is so lame and stupid, keep the sponsor crap away from the playoffs. I would love if the NHL "culture" would be more like the european culture with all the singing, flag waiving, jumping it would make up for an awesome atmosphere and not these "we want you do this.." kind of thing. Fans are smart enough to know when and how to cheer. Glow sticks are funny for intros but they add absolutely nothing in terms of noise, atmosphere same goes for the towels. Another point I wanted to mention is the "stay connected 24/7" who the hell wants that ? The PR guys should realize one thing, people are looking at the official homepage to get that stuff of information and don't want to use third party sites/plugin in order to get the information they are looking for. So how about making the Wings homepage better ? Finding videos on the site is tedious (can't even see the day time) and there really is not a ton of news.
