flyers sign macdonald to 6 year $30 million extension
frankgrimes replied to Euro_Twins's topic in General
Little overpaid but not too much for what he brings, physical shot blocking defenseman who can chip in some points here and there. Would have loved him in a Winged Wheel. Good signing for the Flyers -
Lundqvist versus Giroux great matchup although I'll never bet against the King I want to see the Midget known as MSL to loose so hopefully takes it
-
This is going one heck of a physical series but the Kings are a very tough team to beat. Could easily the best first round series this year.
-
Yzerplan and Stammer are going to beat them :-) Bolts despite all their adversity are a heck of a team Hopefully Bishop will be back in time, although I usually respect MOST of the o 6 franchises I can't stand the french fries, thanks to arrogant SOBs like Subban, Eller and their coach.

ECQF - Series C - Penguins versus Blue Jackets
frankgrimes replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
Go Bluejackets I hope the Pens take them lightly -
I hate that matchup but somebody had to play that beast. The Bruins are always taking it to another level come playoffs they now know exactly what to expect from the Wings and sadly I don't think it will be enough to handle them :-( Regular season records mean nothing, the Penguins swept their series against them last year and look at what happened in the playoffs... But no matter what this season has been a success so let's just enjoy the ride and hope for a win here and there to extend the season a bit longer.

Expecting a huge lineup for his services this guy can get blood from a stone and get an offensively challenged on a budget team into the playoffs more often than not, one h(n)eck of a coach (sorry Predsfan couldn't resist ^^ Although I'm wondering if he really wants one of the gongshows known as Vancouver or Toronto ? IF the Penguins fail again I think he will take over for Bylsma.

Preds Allowed 0 SH Goals in 82 Game Season
frankgrimes replied to PredsFanTheBayouState's topic in General
Trotz really knows how to build a strong defensive system what system. I think once you guys start adding some good forward pieces the Press are going to be back in the post season and very dangerous. Best of luck and personally I enjoy your threads a lot -
Did he pull a Randy Marsh and play too mjuch ? http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l53/freedom3900/heroinhero.jpg

ps 2014 Round 1 Photoshop War: Boston Bruins
frankgrimes replied to Euro_Twins's topic in Hall of Fame
this guy will hopefully play a big role -
Yeah Roy will win it but it shouldn't be a landslide win, the Avalanche needed 5 top 5 picks for their miracle so a certain word comes immediately to my mind... I don't even care if Babcock wins it the job he has done this year is outstanding.
-
That would be a shame the guy is a great coach and can get blood from a stone. I am expecting a lot of teams at least kicking the tires on this guy. Just read his conctract is up soon so the Press should do the classy thing here let it run out instead of firing him.
-
Agreed I think it would also be a nice change for him, the team has a lot of money and after the for sure happening house cleaning Nonis and Shanahan could mold the team fitting his style.
-
Even if the Acquamen or whatever their name is would run a tight ship I don't think they would be that involved, maybe I'm wrong but fixing this will be tough. The team has no identity and the situation can get toxic easily.

CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.

I hate that -
I would give Nyquist some rest, the guy played lights out and carried the team give him some well earned time off.
-
Rest them no need in risking injuries or gassed players come playoff time.
-
Exactly why I hate Marchand the guy is a *****, without Lucic, Chara, McQuaid and Thornton he wouldn't act that stuff. Sedin showed immense class I'm sure he could beat him up easily personally I would have thorwn a punch back at him. Thornton doesn't seem to be the type of player stepping in when someone is acting stupidly ( = Marchandly). As for the Bruins Blueprint that's hard to emulate the best other franchises not named St. Louis can do is ice a fourth line from hell i.e. the "Calgary Model" with Westgarth, McGrattan + maybe Orr next year. If Gillis wanted an uptempo "skilled" game why did he trade Hodgson, Grabner away ? Why did he fire Alan Vigenault and bring in Tortarella a guy who is known for his shotblocking > everything and black/white type of view. Whoever is responsible for this mess right now, it will not be an easy fix.
-
Both are obviously challenging - well the two best teams in the East - but I'd rather play the Pens then the big bad bear/beast from the East. The Bruins are built for the playoffs they always get another gear and turn it to another level. Whatever happens this team should soak in the experience and be happy with what they've accomplished so far, just enjoy the ride and if its a sweep so be it. There is absolutely no pressure now just learn from the experience.

Maple Leafs Name Shanahan New Club President
frankgrimes replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
So now they have: Leiweke (wrong person the guy just doesn't understand how different the LA and Toronto market are) > Shanahan > Nonis > Loiselle > Poulin ? Talk about a lot of decisionmakers *lol* Has Shanahan ever worked before in such a high profile job ? Being VP of hockey operations seems like a very difficult task, if you don't have any managerial and business of hockey experience.
