CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.

Let's all hope this Stupid Nadir guy and his evil Rogers rights are going go flop hard. Maybe then then the NHL will understand what a crappy deal this is going to be. Sportsnet flatout sucks, the arguments look forced/scripted and the hosts are a big joke. Hopefully TSN will get the rights back after Rogers bombed hard f*** them

Apparently it can get worse in Vancouver.

Pretty sure Fahran Lalji did mention that both have a contract clause which will allow the owners to only pay out 50 % if they get fired. Granted that is still a lot of money and now add Linden new GM AND a new coach wow. I am sure Linden will make at least the same amount as Gillis if not more

4/9 GDT - Red Wings 3 @ Pens 4 (SO). Wings clinch playoff spot!

How fitting is that, my 3.000 post - no I'm not bragging just found it fitting - and the Wings clinched for the 23 time :-) anyway congratulations to Babcock and the young guns to be honest I really didn't expect this so hopefully we are never going to read "Nyquist, Sheahan, Tatar or Jurco" are sent down to make place for [insert over the hill vet] again. I also didn't have much fun watching a lot of Wings games this season but thanks to the young guns I can enjoy the game again. Love the way Babs is calling out Sindy and the Tankuins :-) Mr. I throw the bank at this g uy before his contract is up, best coach in hockey by far

After watching that presser one thing became clear, their STH renewal rate must be abysmal if an organisation with such a huge fanbase extends the deadline thats not a good sign at all. I think this was a smart move PR and business wise the guy is basically responsible for hiring the right people, he won't be the one being too involved with the business side of the game.

Puck Daddy: Trotz Head Coach for Caps

Guy won't be without a job for long, can easily see him becoming the next Leafs or Canucks or even Oilers coach (if Lowe gets the boot)

I hope they rest Sindy and we get one point :-)

They just needed a guy like Sestito, if he would have been in the lineup back then Marchand would have acted like the coward he is because he would have known he can't hide behind the Bruins tough guys, when the other team has a pretty big tough guy too. Another important be will be upcoming UFAs they hate playing for Torts so clearly the new GM will take that into account and maybe even ask the players about him.
  8. Be careful what you wish for, with Fleury you never know what you are getting he could be allworld or just flop like a flower and with a well rested Malkin coming back I don't want them but at the end of the day if it comes down to it, we need someone to shadow Crosby (Sheahan, Glendening?). If the Wings are going to make it they deserve a huge amount of kudos, even if they are getting swept in the first round.

Don't get fooled by the timing decisions such as this are always longtime based I'm sure the Acquamen thought long and hard about it, then they've seen the reported drastically reduced season ticket renewals and fired him. If I'm Torts I wouldn't bet to stay longer than the remaining games, there is no way they can justify bringing this guy back. Linden as a president makes sense but he can't be the GM (no experience)

What is everyones second favorite team?

Welcome aboard the bandwagon hopefully you enjoy your stay. Sad to hear that but not surprisingly the Preds needed scoring help since almost forever.

Best coach in the NHL by far so enjoy it as long as he stays. Back to back Olympic gold and noe on thr verge of getting this injury rattled team into the playoffs Hats off Babcock

The Canucks need a bottom 6 top 6 approach and a another coach. There are some serious candidates outthere Botterill. Chicago's Co GM, Loiselle a d if Nonis gets fired he too As for the owners getting involved sometimes they have to, Gillis made too much mistakes and it cost him,.the guy now play golf and will get 2 mill a year for doing nothing sign me in for such a horrible life But if they hire Feaster and keep Torts thrn wow

Have the Wild Hit Their Ceiling?

If the Wings would still be playing in the West they'd be out of the playoffs picture. The Wild are fare away from hitting their celling Suter, Parise are in their prime Brodin, Granlund are two very promising young players and they are certainly going to add another big UFA this year...the Wild could become a scary team in a few years.

What has Bryz done again ?

I love the passion and engagement the Winnipeg fans are showing, more arenas should be like that you know more fan and less suitslike.

    4/8 GDT - Red Wings 4 at Sabres 2

Two points are a must and then try to get another one against the Penguins which should be enough.

There is no way the Aquilinis are going to hire someone like Feasater! This is a guy, who f***ed up the draft although having very good draft positions with his "owskis fetish" and the famous "on our list" quote, I think they are going to look hard at Hextall, Botterill and Chicagos Assistent GMs maybe Louiselle from Toronto but no way it will be Feaster. Gillis oversaw this team going to from absolute powerhouse with some promising prospects to an absolute mess, where players want out and UFAs not willing to came thanks to Tortarella. The next GM will not only have to be a very good one but also know how to fix this mess. If I am the owner and my GM is on the golf course at Trade Deadline day he is gone after the season, there are 3 very important days for GMs to make the team better if you don't want to be at the office on that day, you certainly deserve to be fired. Wondering if Edmonton will now fire Lowe and name Gillis the VP.

Lightning sign GM Yzerman to contract extension

How about not reading it then if it annoys you so much ?

Epic job by Gillie and Torts running this team into the ground. They have had two extremely good goaltenders and are now left with Lack (already overplayed) and Markstrom. Gillian gave Grabber and Hodgson away for basically nothing and their AHL talent pool despite Shinkaruk and Horvat is very blank. However is going to the new GM there will have his hands full

Michigan boys hitting the market 2014-15 season.

Sadly there is no way Boston lets Krug go other than that I really love the thought of Miller and Greene, more good ol Michigan boys :-)

Lightning sign GM Yzerman to contract extension

And Scotty Bowman taught Holland how to run a franchise so what ? Wanting Y running the franchise is NOTHING against Holland. I really don't understand why some people are so surprised about a simple fact, wanting The Captain back is just a usual thing. Just ask the Avalanche how happy they are with the job Sakic has been doing. Yzerman had to revamp the whole organization starting with the AHL, he was the one who fired scouts and hired better ones he was the one who got Vinnik's ok to spent more for better scouts and so on...he had to deal with a lot more troubles than Holland and that's a fact. Yeah team Canada had a huge braintrust but at the end of the day Stevie could have overruled all of them he didn't and the results are speaking for themselves a superb performance and one of the best Canadian teams ever with a stunning result. Yes, Holland is a surefire HHOF GM and one of the best ever but IF Chiarelli is not available my pick would be Yzerman now with the 4 year contract extension he won't be able to come here so we all better hope Holland gets creative with the CBA again and is making use of an almost blank Ilitch check in order to get this team back to where it needs to be = on TOP of the NHL = players shouldn't have to think twice about coming here, they should WANT to come here and getting paid whatever they deserve in order to ice a team like 2002 again.

Lightning sign GM Yzerman to contract extension

Stevie Y has won back to back gold medals with Canada didn't shy away from tough decisions even regarding the feelings of a little midget. Rebuilt Tampa Bay and their ahl club and drafted gems like Palat, Hedman and now Drouin. Yes the Wings are still finding gems but not at the same rate they used to do. In terms of Nyquist a lot of credit has to go again to Hakan Anderson he just finds Swedish jewels amazing. So to me y has shown enough skills

Detroit could be dangerous come playoff time...

Don't agree: - offense Pittsburgh > Detroit at least top 6 wise - defense wash up at best Letang and Maataa are really really good - goaltending Pittsburgh < Detroit depending which Fleury is showing up - coach: obviously Pittsburgh < Detroit and It's not even close not matter what the Pens fans think Babcock is clearly better - grit and toughness easily Pittsburgh > Detroit Engelland is a very tough customer but let's not get ahead of ourselves here, first the Wings need to make the playoffs and keep the seventh place otherwise it will be against the big bad bear from the east
