Despite the Rangers and Leafs non of the mentioned teams has our resources and well Reimer Bernier is far from being a bad duo. Defense wins championships sure offense is needed too but it's less important. The Wings top 4 is basically top 3 + x and thats not good enough in a leagiue with so much parity. Guess what I know it and it's pissing me off. Nothing against Holland but at some point he has to see the obvious, there needs to be a clear direction and a change of style. This team is Geffen runover on a nightly basis. Rookies are expected to carry the load game in game out that's too much pressure. I think Stevie would be the right guy for the job. Also the draft philosophy has to change no more smallish soft players defender under 190 lbs nope, forwards nor bulked up nope...i really can't wait for McKee. Things need to change quickly. I would love us picking that Dreiseitl guy

Glad I had some work to do and missed the game. Like I've said before maybe a streak end is really needed so the management will finally wake up. Don't re-sign some of the older UFAs use the capspace to get a puckmoving defenseman and stay the hell away from guys like Vanek. If it happens please bring inback the captain and let him turn the team around.

Why not start the Monster? Mrazek clearly isn't ready. This is a huge game and a tough one, the Jackets are playing themselves into last years form so I am not optimistic.

Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings
frankgrimes replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Melynk said if he was a betting man he would bet on it :-) as for MSL just look it up there are lots of articles/news on this whiner. Hopefully the Rangers don't decide to buyout his BFF Richards otherwise he will ask for a trade again lol -

He is a ******* baby who got his gold while screwing over his GM, Stamkos AND being the reason why Yzerm,an couldn't attend Lidstrom night. Guy isn't worth the time Callahan has 10 times his heart and dedication. -
CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.

He is known as an interviewer for different sports and that's about it. This has nothing to do with "fashion" a male wearing earrings is not something for prime time TV, when kids and younger people are watching, same goes for stuff like Tatoos.. Rogers doesn't know how to create a first class product and it will show next year, I'm already missing tsn. -

Non hockey guy, sometimes wearing earrings as a male!!! HNIC is Maclean and Don Cherry it works perfectly so why mess with it? God I hate the deal even more now. -
That was hard to watch, all the best to him and a speedy recovery. Wow at his comment, hockeyplayers are just the toughest guys outthere.

Holland would just be moving up and become VP of hockey operations while Yzerman runso the team as GM. If the Wings are missing the playoffs questions will start to come up, so you never know. This team has gone from an annually powerhouse to good to barely a playoff team I don't think our ownership is happy with that. Stevie would be a great choice in terms of rebuild

This thread is not meant to discuss the pro/cons of Hollands moves, just meant as a simple headsup. I really think the guy has done well in Tampa Bay his trade deadline fleecing of Sather was hilarious, this might be the Wings last chance to bring The Captain back in order to get this ship right on track again. I am sure if Mr. I offers a boat load of money Tampa Bay won't be able to match it Ilitch > Vinnik in terms of net worth. So what are your thoughts would you like to bring him in or rather wait a few more years, till Holland retires and Yzerman being a bit more seasoned at the gm job?

Deadspin: Panthers pull off worst line change in history
frankgrimes replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
what the f*** a dozen Panthers on the ice? *lol* -
See that's why I've said the guy is extremely underrated. The reason why Keith can do what he does is Seabrook, the guy is like an insurance for every mistake ie. the former Suter/Weber pairing. The thing with Chara is because of his enormous size he is looking slow but watch this guy skate and shutdown the best of them. This is nothing against Kronwall I like him but I just don't think he is a top 10 but for sure not top 5 defenseman. Since Suter left the Predators I don't think Weber is the best one anymore I think Keith and Pietrangelo will soon be better if they aren't already, although if Weber plays like in the olympics there would be no debate that was insane.

Question: 2 scoring line/2 checkers or 3 scoring/1 checker?
frankgrimes replied to Richdg's topic in General
For obvious cap reasons I'd go with 2 scoring and 2 checking lines, so a true top bottom 6 kind of approach. An advantage would be the cheaper third and fourth lines so more money for the top 6 and top pairing. The fourth line would be the energy line, used whenever things are getting out of hand and to produce energy. The third line would be a mixture of grit and youth. -
Favorite Player(s) on Other Teams
frankgrimes replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Anaheim: Selanne, Fowler Despite all the former rivalries Selanne is a classy guy and a living legend. Wouldn't surprise me if the Ducks would indeed retire his number, after he is done playing. Fowler on the other hand is a very promising and reliable defenseman, trained by S. Niedermayer. Boston: Thornton, McQuaid, Bergeron, Iginla, Chara - I like a lot of players on this team obviously Thornton and McQuaid are as tough as they come and Thornton is also a very decent player, who brings size grit and leadership. He is really the type of guy who could be a great coach one day. Bergeron: One of the best 200 ft in the game and the things he played through last year are unbelievable, a true warrior. Iginla: Classy guy all the way Chara: Mammoth of a man and an elite defenseman Buffalo: Myers The guy has a lot of potential but it gets totally wasted in Buffalo for now that's a real shame. Calgary: by far McGrattan Heavyweight champion, the guy loves his job and will stick up for his teammates no matter what. Someone like him would be welcomed with open arms on this team. Carolina: E. Staal Longtime captain and stayed with them despite all the failures. Chicago: Toews, Hossa Toews is just the type of leader I like, leads by example and always giving other players around him credit. He reminds me of a young Stevie Y. Hossa: One of the best powerforwards in the game although he is getting up their in age. Colorado: Landeskog, MacKinnon, Duchene Duchene has shown time and time again, what a great person he is and also his on ice success is speaking for itself. MacKinnon: this first year rookie just broke one of Gretzky's record and doesn't make a big deal about it, guys like Kadri, Yakupov could learn a lot from him. Landeskog: big, physical and a great player being a captain at such a young age is really outstanding. Columbus: Jack Johnson Great defender and doesn't shy away from telling people to F off if they try to take advantage of him be it his trainers or the league itself. Dallas: Seguin, Benn Seguin: Always knew he would be a great player, Chiarelli just gave up on hm for stupid reasons. Also the media in Boston is horrible. Benn: This guy could turn into another powerforward he has the size and skillset to become one of the premier forwards in this league. Detroit: aside from the obvious Danny K - local boy and without him our defense would be horrendous What can you say, never gets drafted, chooses to go another road and then decides to return to his favorite team and puts up a great rookie season. Way to go Danny Edmonton: Gazdic, Hopkins, MacIntyre Gazdic: The guy can play and is making a name for himself this season, could be one of the new and coming enforcers alongside Bourdelaux Hopkins: He may be a bit overrated but he really doesn't have much help in Edmonton, comes off very humble and down to earth. MacIntyre: Maybe the only guy in the league who could give McGrattan a run for his money. I love his interviews and videos of him telling rookies how to fight. Florida: Gudbranson, Luongo Gudbranson: tough, physical defenseman he plays the game the right way and doesn't shy away from standing up for his teammates. Luongo: One of the best goaltenders in the game, threated unfairly by Gillis and yet never made a big deal out of it. Luongo could have made the situation much worse for the Canucks. Los Angeles: Quick, Richards Quick: His reflexes are really unreal and I love watching him play, he is really tough to beat when he is on. Richards: Made the best of a tough situation and finally doesn't have to deal with the stupid media in Philly. Minnesotta: Suter, Harding Harding: Can't help but cheer for this guy, life hasn't been good to him and he continues to play so well and fight through big kudos to him. Suter: Not the flashiest defenseman but boy he gets the job done every time and can play a ton of minutes without ever being out of gas, amazing stamina. Montreal: Prust, Parros It can't be coincidence that both tough guys are also by far the most likable guys on that roster. For a guy who isn't that big Prust has proven time and time again, that he will fight everybody and play through everything I mean he pressed his rips back in place and tried to finish a game, wow. The Stache is just the man. Nashville: Rinne Probably the biggest goalie in the league with lightning quick reflexes and I want him to do well, after all the injury stuff he has gone through. New Jersey: Schneider He re-signs with the Canucks just to get traded later and never moans about it, on top of that the guy takes away the #1 position from the best goaltender of alltime. New York Islanders: Tavares, Grabner Tavares is playing for an absolutely horrible run franchise and still puts up impressive numbers every year and even re-signs with them. Grabner: This guy has unreal wheels watched some of his shorthanded goals against the Maple Leafs that was fun to watch. New York Rangers: Lundqvist, Nash Lundqvist: 300 wins 31 years old, 49 shutouts, Vezina candidate almost every year this is really really unbelievable. Nash: Big powerforward he may look slow to others but sometimes I feel like him and Stepan and the whole Rangers offense. Ottawa: Kassian, Ryan Ryan: I don't know why but this guy just doesn't get appreciated. Left off team USA in an absolutely disgusting way, part of continous trade talks back in Anaheim and never ever misses a beat. Sadly he gets misused in Ottawa. Kassian: How can you not like a guy with the nickname Kassassian Philadelphia: Giroux, L. Schenn Giroux: Got the best of Sid The Kid and is the reason for the Flyers turnaround this season. L. Schenn: Big, tough and very reliable in his own end. He may not be the fastest skater and an offensive flash but but he gets the job done. I'd call him a Suter lite. Pittsburgh: Engelland Average size but absolute insane fighting technics this guy will drop the gloves against anybody and his fight against Orr was one of the most entertaining ones I've seen. Phoenix: Ekman Larsson, Yandle Larsson: Like Tavares with the Islanders I think he would get a lot more appreciation if he played for a bigger team. Yandle: Same thing but he needs to work on his defensive game. San Jose: Couture, Burns Couture: Future captain of the Sharks for sure. Burns: The guy goes from a defender to a forward and does incredible well I really don't know how one can have such a flawless transistion. St. Louis: Backes, Pietrangelo Backes: Despite Lucic he is the powerforward in the game right now, a tough mean SOB, beautiful wife and has his heart on the right place love his Athletes for Animals foundation. Pietrangelo: The sky is the limit for this guy, he does it all puts up points is very good on the defensive side of the game and is still so young. Tampa Bay: Stamkos, Hedman Stamkos: Hands down the best goalscorer in the game, absolutely down to earth guy and an absolute gym freak. I think he will be a great captain for the Bolts for years to come. Hedman: I still think he could need some more bulking up to do although he has great size but given his frame a few extra pounds could turn this guy into such a pain in the ass to play against. Toronto: Kessel, Orr Kessel: I just like the guy he is so humble, never makes a big deal of scoring goals and doesn't like to play the PR game. He is hiding from interviews and focuses on his job I love that. Orr: Tough mean SOB who can also play boy I would love him in a Winged Jersey. As another interesting fact so far he has only played for Original 6 franchises. Vancouver: Bieksa, H. Sedin Bieksa: Lately a bit too offensive for my liking but he is a good defender and also very tough the only downside sometimes he comes off as a spotpicker. H. Sedin: The magic between him and his brother is always so fun to watch. Sadly, Tortarella has done a good job getting rid of the all the creativity this team has. Washington: Erskin Doesn't get to play a lot but when he does he can provide energy and physicality, plus he will also drop the gloves against anybody. Winnipeg: Scheifele, Wheeler Scheifele: Just a hardworking rookie who never seems to give up on the play, really impressive. Wheeler: Big and also a very hardworking although he could shoot a lot more. -
That's why I want to come over and help rebuilding this franchise oh nevermind just read Vinnik gave him an A plus and already wants to start contract talks not good for us not good.
-
The second goal was just a hard tto track deflection no chance on that but the third one, ugh. This team needs some serious stability on the defensive side I know it will not happen this season but for next season, take advantage of the Canucks firesale and get someone like Hamhuis, Bieksa, Ehrhoff or Andy Macdonald. Our goalies need to almost play flawlessly every time in order to have a chance..
-
One would think this team would have known something very important about the Rangers a certain guy named Lundqvist is very good...
-
I think the teams needs both a guy who can run the PP and a shutdown guy, someone like Luke Schenn would be a dream come true. Other than that for sure a center prospect and someone to keep the other team honest. So a lot of needs and especially defense is hard to get but at least the team will have some capspace to work it and Holland will have to get creative.
-
The problem with Kronwall is simple: the guy is asked to run the damn PP and HE isn't that type of guy period he should focus more on a shutdown role and be a physical force again. Where are his so impressive crushing open ice hits? You know the stuff Phaneuf and him are known for. Guys who are clearly better: Chara - *lol* at the notion that this guy is overrated he is an absolute monster and can do it all Pietrangelo B. Seabrook - this is one of the most underrated guys in the whole league, he rarely makes a mistake and gets the job done quietly Keith Suter Weber Letang Doughty Bouwmeester Yandle McDonagh Phaneuf bold = elite, so yeah Kronwall is around ~ 12 good but not in the top group and for sure not elite
-
I don't care about the outcome just some Kronwalling for MSL that's all
-
Would I would do as Hartley? Send out my fourth line once again and make Tortarella go absolutely crazy, just the same thing as last time it would hilarious and Hartley would ecome a god I'm already counting the days till Tortarella absolutely explodes big style.

Defenders, Defenders, Defenders and thanks to some questionable moves find another young center with potential.

Trial date set in Steve Moore’s lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi
frankgrimes replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
Just listened to his interview and I must say I fully understand him. Listen I am a huge fan of tough hockey, enforcers and line brawls but what Bertuzzi did not only crossed the line in real life this would have led to trying to murder sb charges, so it's serious. The NHL just again shows how stupid they are, the smart thing would been to settle this without the court. Now like Moore said a lot of details are coming to come out, the league will look absolutely terrible and the only differense is NOW they have to pay a huge bill while a lot of secret stuff will have to get unveiled. No doubt in my mind that this incident led to the instigator penalty making the job much more difficult for honest enforcers. IF Moore is still suffering from concussions and set backs boy oh boy the court will rule heavily here.
