Official 2014 Olympic Hockey Thread (Admin warning #316)

Congratulations to Selanne on his bronze medal in his final olympics. Finland just wants it more, hey coaching/front office stuff how would that desaster waiting to happen (Yandle) look now ? -
Teh thing is, if you buy more of them you want to be able to see a difference that's why I'm a bit hung up on the details. 12,99 $ for such small lego figures should provide premium made quality and a bit more love on details thats all I'm saying.

Pihlström would look nice in a winged wheel I think the Fins are looking like they want it more. -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Look I*m not disagreeing with you in fact I agree with you. Vanek is going to be the hot price come UFA no doubt about that but personally I'd rather go "expensive" on the defensive side of the game and try to add guys like Grabner to our two Star centers. In terms of speed I would not be surprised if this guy is top 5. Cammaleri is an interesting choice but only for a modest price if it involes a first pass. -

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20140220/SPORTS02/302200108/Puck-leaves-Poile-blind-in-right-eye Horrible news let's just hope it is only temporary, guy is a great GM. -
Just the same way as they are doing the paining changeable hairs and paint some facial instead of only beards. I don't know but for 12, 99 $ they don't look very well made.

Reddit AMA: I used to work at Joe Louis w/Red Wings

What a great read. Damn first I've had to defend Kane (a Blackhawk) and now after reading this I have a lot MORE RESPECT for Crosby (a Penguin), most players would have definately walked by and never looked back. The end is near of at least close. Sadly I think most of us fans knew it, when Nick looked pissed after the loss against the Predators. The story about Hudler is just too good sounds like he was enjoying the NHL lifestyle way too much for Babcocks liking :-) waking up with a bunch of girls in a first class lounge isn't the worst thing in the world *lol* Dmac + a Hudler at a party sounds like a nice party to be part off I'm not surprised about the Pasha story the guy is shy nothing wrong with that, he's a magician on the ice and for me that's all I care about. -
The Faces are really poorly executed it's like they've chosen one skin and just tweaked it a bit, lame.

I hope Wheelers stock is down after the Olympics he would be someone I'd like to add. -
As a neutral observer I've loved both games for different reasons today. Systematically wise the first game was as good as it gets, Canada - USA was back and forth overshadowed by an Allstar canadian defense and superb goaltending from Jonathan Quick. Can't believe I'm defending a Blackhawk here but Kanes Grandpa passed away not long before the Olympics so huge kudos to him for every trying to play I know, I would not have been able to do so. MVPs SWE - FIN Karlson, Godqvist CAN - USA Quick, Benn (you ******* monster), Kessel and I hate to say it but.....Crosby the guy worked his tails off every shift and created chances from nowhere. Under der the radar that Carlson kid best defender after Suter on tema US
-
At this point all I care about is his healt. Glad, like others mentioned this has been done away with. Take the season off Z and come back fully healthy and recovered next year. Play the young guns and see where it goes, we wouldn't have won the cup anyway this year. If the streak ends so be it.

Canada is putting on a clinic so far wow

Well Vanek is also older, according to some Isles fans they are using Grabner as a grinder and that's not what he is. To be honest I don't want to pay a premium for a rental and I highly doubt Grabner will be available, with Vanek gone (soon), Tavares out who other than Okposo should do the scoring for this team ? -

If Karlson can round out his defensive game, he could be one of the elite defenseman for years to come. What a great game and an appetizer for the midday game. Watched it on my tablet and would love to rewatch it again already, Lundvist unbelievable. Also congrats to the Fins, having your 4 best centers out and beating Russia on home-ice, while having the defending champions on the rope of a loss and making it to the final 4 is a huge accomplishment. -
As a neutral I want a hard, exciting game with Weber - Backes having a go at it. This is the best offense versus the best defense. If Canada loses doubt around the selection and also Babcocks equal icetime are going to rise if they win well he will be a god amongst Canadians again
-
He doesn't need to provide offense or prevent other teams from scoring goals. The guy will be here to protect Pasha, Z, Nyquist, Tatar and some future young guns. That's his job and if he does it well he will be welcomed by the players and fans with open arms :-)
-
Hopkins doesn't have attitude problems neither does Hall so I don't buy that.

Sucks get well soon such a classy and exciting player to watch

Haha one of my favorite HBO moments *lol*

Can't wait for that monster to wear the winged wheel been a looooooooooong time since we've had such a special prospect.

I don't think we'll be seeing a lot of moves overall, most contenders are tight to the cap and safe for the obvious players Vanek, Miller, Callahan and Girardi there is not much outthere. -
The most important thing is his health, I hope he takes his time and does the right thing. If that means being done for the season so be it sometimes other things (love, health) are way more important than the best game this planet has ever seen. Get well soon captain Z

It's a gamble and one I wouldn't want this team to make. Problem boys either adapt or they curse the whole locker room, clash/fight with players, verbally piss on coaches and teammates no thanks. Pietrangelo and Doughty are young defenseman with limitless potential but other than these two there aren't many guys who are young, reliable defensively AND able to move the puck like the best of them. Ponying for Suter was a no brainer it was only money no draft pick, prospect involved also Suter is THE reason why Weber has been as good as he was. Just look at him on team Canada that Weber - Keith pairing really is something else

Don't know about Womens hockey but in terms of Women I think Curling (that Russian team ) and Figure Skating (Tessa ) are way more interesting for obvious reasons. As for tomorrow I'm freaking pumped two superb rivalries between the top 4 hockeynations it doesn't get better than that. To best honest I'm getting more and more the feeling the US fans are REALLY underestimating the goliath that Canada is not sure if that's a smart thing to do. Looking forward to Sindy versus captain Backes
