    Nucks vs Flames

Don't watch it then, problem solved.

How can you forget the powerplay is our enforcer if you suck at least suck with style, the Flames are a bad rebuilding team but they've been in the best game this season so far, WTF can't the Wings act like that? The Bash Brothers would have gone outthere after the third goal and provided at least an entertaining element.

Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?

Right now I'm open to: - replace Holland with Y - keep: Pasha, Z, Kronnwer, Dekeyser, Monster, Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan - call up Mike McKee - keep Babcock on a shortleash for next season ~ 10 - 15 games - get rid of every other veteran they aren't cutting it anymore period - trade Howard for a big bodied scoring Winger built a bigger team for crying out loud, they are understandable intimidated by teams like St. Louis, change the ******* playstlye puck possession DOES NOT work

Thats a very good definition thank youthe Blues are a great team this season and built for the playoffs if they fix their goaltending watch out NHL

    Leaders need to be leaders

Assume for a second, how this team would be playing without Z and Pasha ? We wouldn't be talking about making the playoffs, we would be talking about a top 5 pick ( wouldn't mind that at all ). Like others said, it's tough to blame individuals and to some extent even Babcock, Holland just hasn't given him much to work with and without the two remaining stars things would be very grim. The only positive so far, is the game of Nyquist, Tatar, Danny Dekeyser and Sheahan. Helm just came back after another injury, so I wouldn't judge him too soon. Z is trying his best, he obiously isn't an alltime great like St. Nick but none the less a great player and leader, sadly I think we won't be seeing him or Pasha with another cup

According to him the team is retooling - whatever the difference may be - there seems to be one. Holland had enough time to better prepare this time for the post Saint Nick era, made some questionable signings and seems to be to stubborn to change the way he is building a team. But he has a chance to correct a lot of things this offseason, hopefully for us he does. Enough with the puck possession style try dump and chase and clock up the neutral zone it's a style built to accomplish more with less talent.

Can't say I am surprised, Blues are just too much for this team. Making the playoffs feels like a long road now.

    Nucks vs Flames

Wow talk about not understanding hockey, Hartley did nothing wrong yet these greedy idiots are fining him. This league is turning into a joke 6 games for torts seems fair and right If I am Hartley I'd tell them to f*** off because Incandescent start whoever I want, he should go to a neutral arbitrator and appeal Burke is perplexed with the fine and stands behind Hartley, if I'm the owner I would pay for him with a nice letter to the league questioning their understanding of the term rivalry

I don't think he will be a career Blues player, he knows his value is only going to rise so will the salary cap if someone offers 7,5 for 8 years I doubt Armstrong matches that. Lidstrom should just phone him and get him to sign with the Wings *g*

Backes the guy is sadly the definition of a big beast. Would love to have him on the Wings but watching our players against him is not something I'm looking forward to today.

It's not his fault that he can do whatever he wants, without facing the consequences you won't see him doing that against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Bruins or Flames guy is a beast but also a spot picker. If this game doesn't bring any new injuries I would be very happy.

    Nucks vs Flames

Calling the best game of the season a joke *lol* Fans were on the seat, players and fans alike love it that's good ol' hockey the way it used and should be. I know people that are still talking and loving the Isles Pens game games like this are hard to forget, because they provide everything fans love about hockey. Hartley has done nothing wrong, he can put the line of his pleasing outthere and he decided to choose his toughest one, good for him. Keep in mind, the Flames have been a bit of pushover team their new management doesn't like that and with O'Brien, McGrattan and now Westgarth the pushover days may be over, even as a non Flamesfan gotta love that quick turnaround. Wonder what would happen, if Eakins sends out BigMac, Gazdic to start the faceoff *g*

Best defense, maybe the best power forward in the game plus Steen back, nope I don't expect much other than a good fight against the best team in the West (I don't think the Hawks would beat the Blues in 7 games).
  14. frankgrimes

Steve Ott to possibly be moved to Detroit.

Ott and Westgarth <3 both would be some really needed and very nice to have additions. Ott brings leadership, grit and physicality Westgarth would allow him, to do his job and not worry about other heavies.
  15. frankgrimes

    Blessing in disguise?

Yeah rather pay 2 m for Weiss and use the 3 m to get a big body physical third line center, who knows his roll and works hard every shift and can be trusted to do some second line duties if needed.
  16. frankgrimes

    Perspective?

Did I say that ? It totally depends on the team, if you have a young, hungry team on the cusp of breaking out for sure making the playoffs is a tremendous step forward and at that point you can easily salvage a better draft pick. If you are an aging team, soon needing to replace one superstar things are a bit different, right now most of the vets on this team have at least won 1 stanley cup and the young players mostly have around 15 ! years left to win one, plenty of time here. Given we are right now the later I would say atm a better draft pick is more important than just making the playoffs.

Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?

While that's true, I'd still trade him for someone like Keith, Pietrangelo, Suter or god forbid spotpicker Weber.
  18. frankgrimes

    Blessing in disguise?

The young movement is a great thing, but as long as the front office keeps bringing back over the hill vets they won't get much playingtime (safe for injuries of course). But I agree, seeing Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan and Jurco competing hard every shift is really nice. I wouldn't talk about contender status right now, there are too many holes on the defense and the team still lacks a pure goalscorer - as has been the case since Hossa left - so personally I expect at least two more years of "retooling", till this team can be considered a contender again IF Holland/next GM can replace Z and Pasha via UFA. Despite the young movement, the team needs a new identity hopefully this also starts next year with a real fourth line. as for Weiss to me he is a buyout candidate alongside Mule

Would Samuelsson ever consider retiring mid-season?

There is nothing that can be done about the contract now. Do I blame Sam ? No, if somebody offers me such a contract I'll sure take it, the whole fiasco just like the Colaiacovo, Weiss thing is solely on Holland. After looking at it, even if Sam does retire the caphit still counts thanks to the stupid CBA. So the best thing we can hope for, is he does play well when he is in the lineup everything elese is out of the teams control as sad as it is. as for Holland being ill-prepared...well that's true and given the almost blank cheque from the best owner in all sports the roster should be better, bu t it is what it is. Hopefully, next season will be "clean house" time, don't re-sign any of the vets (including Alfie there is enough leadership on this team and he wont win a cup here) and give the young guns more opportunities.

What Do You Make of the Habs?

The only elite thing on this team, is Price (if he is hot if not nothing on this team is elite): - defense: they lack an oldschool stay home defenseman - offense: although Cammaleri wasn't great at least he was a dangerous goalscorer now their top 6 just doesn't have that kind of scoring threat - coaching: Therrien was on the edge of having a team with Letang, Malkin and Crosby missing the playoffs, he called his players out during a presser - terrible coach. Since the only hire french Canadian coaches, there aren't many left like someone said Guy Boucher and now Claude Noel are the only available options - not built for the playoffs, this a run and gun team not willing/able to sacrifice some egos in order for the team- Bergevin has his work cut out for him and it's not going to be easy and I think, he is a good GM. Solved the easiest to fix weakness of the team this season and should fix the defense next.

Torts is showing more tenacity than our whole fourth line sad but true *g*
  22. frankgrimes

    Nucks vs Flames

Agreed Torts can b e as mad as he wants, but going over to the other dress room and starting to throw punches crossed the line. Hartley can send everyone outthere, Torts has the last change. It's a rivalry and sadly we aren't seeing things like this oftten enough, emotions are running high.
  23. frankgrimes

    Nucks vs Flames

Both teams are struggling, 2 Canadian teams that really don't like each other so something was going to happen for sure. Also it's not like McGrattan or Westgarth would jump the Sedins so Torts didn't need to send out his fourth line. Bieksa acted like a *****, he is tough but seriously avoiding Westgarth and then going after a non fighter? Disgusting, same goes for Kassian throwing punches, when two refs are holding the guy. There is no reason to fine Hartley, because Torts had the last change He will get suspended for his locker room actions that's for sure.

    Nucks vs Flames

Tortarella will get suspended, Hartley didn't do anything wrong here this makes the game entertaining, back in the good ol' days stuff like this happened more often and fans are loving it. Nice to see line brawls are slowly coming back. Tortas is getting easily pissed off, the same thing happened against the Devils.

    Nucks vs Flames

Best hockeygame of the season by far, coming home seeing the Wings win and then all of a sudden a good ol' hockey linebrawl, superb what a sunday start. I ******* love the way McGrattan and Westgarth gone about their business, McGrattan and Sestito even talked to each other after the fight, classy guys. The NHL clearly needs more of that and less of that new nhl stuff. Tortarella will get suspended for sure, his post game will be classic
