Thornton is going to appeal http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/neely-thornton-suspension-little-harsh

For sure they are a good team, but the point is they've played their backup (who has what 3 NHL games?) so only getting one behind him is pathetic. I expected a loss so not a big deal but at least compete, get mad and avenge Abdelkader, someone ellbows him, ellbow one of their better players. I fully understand not wanting to go after Engelland, because the guy is as tough as they come but there are other guys like Depres, Cindy Sutter or Malkin (getw ell soon)

Nice will be interesting to see how his game translates to the big club.

I am feeling the same, the makeup of the current DetroitRedWings just seems to be missing something and it's not just grit, toughness given their streaky season so far it seems like the hunger to win and dedication has been lost. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but as a GM there needs to be a player turnover, otherwise mediocrity and country club atmosphere are the reward. Also once again they didn't stick up for each other, Engelland ellbows Abdelkader and no reaction...Despite Z Pasha, Nyquist, Tatar, monster and Danny K there is nothing to like about this team. Maybe missing the playoffs will finally wake up the front office and this hanging on to spots will turn into some sort of a rebuild.. Anyway I'very thought other teams wouldn't play their enforcers against this team? For sure they do and why not the PP sucks.

Read something about a dangerous winterstorm, so that might be one of the reasons.

really? Maybe I'll try it then all the ones I've used were totally crap.

A point would be nice but I'm not expecting much.

Wonder what Mario L., Sindy C and the rest of this ***** organization promised Bettman and Shanahan for only giving Neal 5 games? If you giveThornton (first time offender) 15 there is no way that SOB named Neal can get away with 5. Can't wait, till some tough teams are going to take this crybabies by the horns and run Sindy + Malking out of the building. This coupled with the non suspension for that Flyers thug just makes so happy again knowing, that Shanahan will never ever hang at the in the rafters at the Joe. Guy completely sold himself out, no integrity at all.

Don't we all know you, rivalries are born on Wednesday according to NBC so I'm sure Buffalo Sabres NewyorkIslanders and games like that are a huge historic rivalry filled with hatred *laughs* so far the best rivalvries have ben: TorontoMapleLeafs - MontrealCanadiens and obviously the Pennsylvenia derby between the Philadelphiaflyers and Pittsburghpenguins. I really wish, some old rivalries can be renewed soon. This league needs real rivalries not that forced crap NBC is trying to create, which is disgusting. This is another reason, why I'm so thrilled with McKee this guy will for sure help to renew some rivalries, guy is going to be the next McGrattan.

Shawn Thornton attacks Orpik (leaves game on stretcher)

Neal got 5, so Thornton shouldn't be over 12 at the absolute max. Maybe just maybe the Penguins are already starting to regret, letting BigMac go *g* -
FAO Mike Babcock: Work on shootouts during practice

Given the great shootout success I can fully understand, why Kenny wants it gone. Hard for me to remember the last time, the DetroitRedWings won in a shootout contenst. -
Get well soon Howy, monster can handle the load. Glad, he has already 12 games under his belt, so he won't come in rusty.

I'm a bit younger but had the pleasure of watching and reading about NHL hockey back then, because for whatever reason we could watch some NA channels The prime example for a clean player to me is LSchenn, physical on every shift but he always keeps his ellbows where they belong and doesn't cross the line, like the Neals, Cooks and Torreses. I would bet a lot of money, that Thornton himself is ashamed by what he did this man has played with and for the code his entire career -

Sure, Thornton crossed the line in a disgusting way but it's not like the Penguins are a clean-team by any ways. Also Thornton has been in a lot of heated situations and never ever has been suspended, huge kudos to him and I would love to have a guy like him protecting Pasha, Z and the young guns instead of only one guy who is willing to stand up for them in Sam... Loved what McCarty did back then and now that I'm older I love it even more! Rock'em Sock'em hockey, even Lemieux said he wanted a guy like McCarty on the Stars because of how well DMac played his role. -

as of now Burke is just interim-GM so Idon't know if he has that power (yet) -

Well Burke also has King above him, so it's not like he can do whatever he wants but why would someone accept a demotion from vice president to GM? Just weird. -

So that's already two Gmail being sacked next one will be Garth Snow or Glen Sather, Holler or Mike Gillis -
I think the Vanek to the Minnessota wild rumor is based on a few facts (did some research on it): 1. his best friend Pominville is playing there 2. his girlfriend is from the area 3. he has started his NA career in Minnesotta 4. they are an up and coming team so it really would make sense for him to go there. Even if the Penguins are going to get him, it doesn't matter they for sure can score goals but their defense and goaltending has yet to put it together in the playoffs. Also I wouldn't pay him 9,5 m annually there are only two guys I'd be willing to break the bank for: Jonathan Toews and obviously Steven Stamkos with a rising cap paying these guys 9,5 annually would be a tremendous investment but one, that I'm sure would pay off when all is said and done.

The sad part about that is they aren't even done yet, at some point they are going to give the WC to teams that can't even fill their own (small!) arenas. Anyway, I know I might be in the minority but I'm looking way more forward to the alumni game than the actual one. So many good memories and all-time greats on the ice on both sides, Clark, Domi and cujo are nice to watch too. Should be an epic battle between two epic franchises, sadly the league doesn't show the respect, this game deserves.

Pasha is just great, I love his honesty and how humble this magician seems to be. Personally, I will never ever blame a player for giving predictable answers, because some of the media asked questions are just dumb and they are really reaching for controversal answers. From my point of view I would just decline giving an interview and tell them I'm introverted and not comfortable infront of the media so don't bother asking me I WONT reply.

Personally I would like to see Almquist up and see what he can do at the pro level. Sucks for Z guy played some superb hockey get well soon captain

I agree keep some cap flexibillity if there aren't any homering Ufa players available or don't want to come here. The former mentioned ones need to be gone for sure. Replacing big Bert will not be easy but there are enough young players with skill and size. My ideal choice would be Bordelau if he becomes available.

I may be in the minority here but I think Helm or Danny K will be the next captain.
