Another SO loss?
-
I believe Mr.I doesn't get involved till it's necessary - i.e Y - but when he does things are either improving or changing. Hopefully, Chris is similar in that regard. That's why a VP I'd making so much sense, someone to look over the GMs shoulder and then directly reporting to the owner. If I were the owner I would for some occasional visits and ask some question without getting overly involved stuff like "to you need more ressources? Why am I paying 20 m $ for revenue sharing, upcoming buyouts and plans to turn the thing around.." wouldn't run it ad a business and more like an interested fan willing to spend whatever it takes to bring Stanley back.

The kids were the answer in a lockout shortened season...

Injured Danny DeKeyser out 3-6 weeks with separated shoulder, LTIR

Just great the brightest spot on this team gone for six weeks (yes I assume the maximum) -
I am just loving it, when some everything is fine fans are telling realistic people on how to feel. Fact of the matter is, this team has been out in the second round 3 times and in one time in the first round, that's not DetroitRedWings style period. Even Babcock was quoted saying that this to him is not going into the right direction. Usually the time to rebuild is *before* a team is bad enough to make it almost mandatory. The so called.great farm system has some nice prospects but nothing even close to Pasha, Z, Hasek or Fedorov of Lidstrom. It's basically a nice pool with great depth but no star or superstar potential. I respect both of them but the reason why this team even made the playoffs last year, was a shortened season and them playing over their talent level. I respect Mike and Kenny a lot but if they have a different take on the reality off this roster of philosophy something has to give simple as that. Maybe missing the playoffs.for the first time since forever would be the right dose of reality. Personally I can and will fathom a bad season if it leads. To more.youth introduction and better picks but this edition right now is unwatchable, if things aren't going your way play.physical, start a fight just something to make the team up...oh I forgot the PP is the very dangerous enforcer... Questiong moves and roster management != disrespect it is being concerned about the present and more so future of a team that's getting up their in age.

Not that I fault Howie but I'd like to see the monster for some games, just to give him some rest.
-
Just stand pat and let the season play itself out, if Kenny doesn't see the obvious after this season give him the boot. Like I've written in another thread the best owner in all of sports is not going to stand behind an average DetroitRedWings roster, he wants to win and will get the personal giving him the best chance of doing so! I hate to mention it, but I also think it's time for Mike to maybe look at another club - may have lost the room - a swap with the Penguins Babcock for Bylsma? Who knows, but one thing is for sure this has the making of becoming another hang on to make playoffs season, at that point usually roster shakeups are bound to happen after the season. but right now making panic moves doesn't help the situation at all, maybe a top 10 pick is exactly what this team needs to start to speed up the rebuilding process, Not even a guy like Toews, Stammer or Crosby would put this team over the top right now, sad but true.
-
Don't know/care about t hat, he has some huge huge shoes to fill - talking alltime greats - and has a very bad roster behind him. Not exactly an ideal situation.
-
If it's somewhere in the reported ballpark sure, Ericcson had really improved his game and could be a great mentor for Danny K
-
I agree with this. Babcock doesn't like an all offense run and gun style, I always thought Mike prefers a grind it out 200 foot game. He needs a special type of players for this and Kenny has only provided him with finesse skilled players, that aren't playing or capable of playing a blue collar style. So one of the two has to give, the best owner in all of sports is not going to accept mediocrity forever. Get Stevo Y or Chiarelli as GM's please and let Kenny become the vice president for hockey operation.

Tough to see tough to watch, the last time the DetroitRedWings were an exciting team has been to long ago. The retool/build should have started one year after the last cup run. Nothing wrong with not being a top team anymore but the problems rise up when : Thr roster has no identitiy - coach and GM responsibility Kenny and Mike are refusing to ice the best roster Young guns are held back or in the AHL Kenny signing guys that aren't useful for a rebuilding - yes I'm calling for a rebuild now - team Scoring 2 goals against the Nashville Predators is just wow.
-
Not interested in him, great player and person bug this team needs to get bigger, younger and tougher Cammaleri doesn't fit sadly. I think he will go go a teams, to put them over the top maybe the Penguins
-
Thanks to be stupid new CBA, you can only burry 1 million at max from the cap space, the other money is used to support .... we all know what.
-
Agreed, how does it hurt to sign this thing and maybe create a little bit more money for charities? $ 99 is not a lot but honestly I am not surprised I would even have paid for something like that, if it were from the DetroitRedWings rather spent the $ 99 without public knowledge but whatever...it's the Blackhawks so I am not surprised.

Sportsnet releases 24/7 broadcast schedule.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Couldn't care less about that, rather see Pasha and Z on 36 hours of x. I'm sure HBO will try to force some scripted stories on the teams but neither the DetroitRedWings nor the TorontoMapleLeafs are going to take part in that, they'll allow cameras in some situations but that's about it. -
I don't think Mantha will turn out to be a Corry Perry (if so, wow) but if the can be a solid top 6 contributor I'll be more than happy with that. Perry is an allstar, with an unreal scoring touch.

Well the league is being controlled by a bunch of idiots, midgets and some piss poor owners who shouldn't even have a franchise in the first place. Can't wait for contradiction to around 24 - 28 teams..the sooner the better and this will - of course - be the time when the midget will get the boot finally.
-
For sure, he is getting better and more comfortable each week but this roster has more problems than just Weiss being injured. I am looking forward to his comeback - didn't think I would have said that few weeks ago - his return will help for sure.
-
this league is becoming more and more of a joke, hire a hockeyguy as commissioner please to save the game.
-
Talk about selling out the game of hockey. Hope, everyone who is ordering such stuff does so by using FAX or mail, instead of the NHL shop
-
Really? I thought a young player, who didn't have the luxury of learning from the perfect human and just takes a bit more time to find his game would be the worst DetroitRedWings defender ever? I like the guy and still believe he is going to become a very serviceable top 4 defender.
-
Sure, in 10 years it will be awesome to finally see these two as regulars with the Detroit Red Wings *g*
-
The monster had two awesome b2b games and yet Babs gives it right back to Howard, how about letting him gain some consistency and not thworing him in and out like nothing? Being a goaltender in the NHL is incredible hard, but coming in cold every x game is even harder. Just for the record I am not blaming HOwy or monster sure they might give up bad goals but that's to be expected if you have to play almost perfect every game, because the defense despite Kronwall(ed) and Danny Dekeyser is crap, since the perfect human left. If a team can't finish off teams in the regular season, just wait for the playoffs - if they even make it...
-
So loss?
-
I'd say play the season out, for better or worse...and then in the off-season cut ties with Clearly, Alfie, Berti *g* and hope that the Mule improves or buy him out the goal should be to create as much cap space as possible, figuring out the next core and then go into the offseason prepared to make a big splash (I'm talking Dion Phaneuf/Thomas Vanek like)
