10/23 GDT: Senators 6 at Red Wings 1

Worst game of the season by far. Games like this are showing perfectly why a tough as nails is needed. After being down by three goals and obviously the top players are all having an off night an energy line can swing the momentum, either with delivering a big hit, a fight or just starting stuff out there. Everbody knew, the Senators would be extremely motivated to win this game, the DetroitRedWings did not match that effort but whatever just it is just one game. On the other hand if this is the start of a bigger losing streak Kenny might finally see the obvious and move out some veterans.

The great thing about that is I am remembering another defenseman who was drafted but very late, he then went on to become the perfect human ;-)

Melynk can go f.himself for all I care, every time a player is.leaving his team he tries to make them look bad. Running such a good young team being cheap is not the way to go. Alfie gave them a favorable contract for over an decade and yet he can't throw 5.5 million at the best player this team ever had and THE face of the franchise?

Danny is the man and a feel good story so far. This guy was never drafted got a chance and is making the most out of it. Big kid, great attitude, Michigan born and still pretty young I am trying not to get overly excited but so far he has been everything I hoped, he would become and even more. Way to go Danny!

    10/21 GDT: Sharks 1 @ Red Wings 0 (SO)

It doesn't matter how one is looking at it, the fact stands as of right now this team needs to make moves in order to bring in guys who should have been regulars from the beginning and that falls on Kenny.

Gus tops 'NHL Stars of the Week'

Very well deserved, this guy is a great goalie he just needs some games and an at least good defense in front of him, he didn't have that in Toronto.

Martin Biron retires at age 36

All the best to him, I think he could have been a starter on another team but being trapped beside the King is not a bad life. You are going to make around 2,5 each year while barely playing. great guy I've read about him doing a lot of charity work for his hometown, deserved retirement enjoy it Martin.

    10/17 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Avalanche 2

Well Bordeleau is going to have some fun tonight, that's for sure hopefully he doesn't do something stupid. Other than that the Avalanche are very hot at the moment so I would be happy with a point.

    Sabres' Kaleta suspended 10 games.

Wowoh so it's hard having to learn how to not act like a complete DB and respect the safety of other players instead of hiding behind a bear like MacIntyre, who has to clean up your crap? How impressive...ask Karlson, Savard about that changed player thing.. what's funny is the Penguins are always talking about player safety and then they sign guys like Cooke..

    3 in a row.... I'll take it!

I want these guys on the team also but not as a second more as a third line, for the simple fact to ease them in, sometimes patience is nice and good but in other cases I think letting players, who are clearly ready overripen in the AHL can be dangerous too. Tatar and especially Nyquist need to bulk up once they have done so, I think they might become a very good line in the future. Impressed with Danny D and monster so far.

% Chance that Monster can Survive B2B Games?

The Monster has so much talent, I really hope he will get the chance to become a number 1 goalie somewhere maybe Edmonton? after this season. he deserves all the luck in the world

    Sabres' Kaleta suspended 10 games.

Kaleta to me is almost in the same category as Cooke, Torres the book needed to be thrown on him. he is going to accept it www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=434292

    Pronger is done

Too bad, easily one of the best defenseman of his generation I would go Perfect Human - Pronger - S. Niedermayer that's how good Pronger was in his prime. He took a lot of teams on his back and led them to Stanley Cup appearances and even wins, he is physical beast. All the best to him hopefully Pronger can be symptom free very soon. btw. how dumb is Holmer? You don't say something like that publically because you are now on the hook for 6 million against your cap, just keep him on LTIR and when his contract is done, anounce his retirement.

So happy for the monster, the guy just needs consistency and hopefully become a great NHL goalie some day.

    is anyone happy right now?

Well if that's the case that would be just stupid, think about Nonis and Carlyle from the first day they've said "the best players are playing, regardless of standing/&salary" after that they've put two guys in the miniors (around 8 million) and called up the young and hungry guys. Why can't the DetroitRedWings do the same? Sent the over the hill players down ? Also why should Babcock care how Kenny feels? Kenny is building the team with all the pros and cons and Babcock has to ice the best possible roster, it's as simple as that. If the some signings are falling back on Holland well maybe...they are...*think*...just BAD? There is a whole line of hungry, young and willing youngsters waiting for their chance and I am not talking about one game, for at least a bigger stretch. I really believe the so called best coach worldwide should be able to figure this out, do I expect him to ice four great lines? No, because this roster isn't capable of doing so but having a more balanced offense is something I expect him to figure out and like I said I don't care how Kenny is feeling about it, he has to life with his signings and there is no way Babcock should be overruled when it comes down to who is playing and who is not.

Awesome so happy for him, Boston didn't appreciate him and Nil absolutely ropped Chiarelli with this trade. also *lol* at the Penguins

Steve Yzerman wants Game Misconduct penalties for fighting

That's an argument I agree with but why are ticket prices, food and parking rising? Because this organization has to pay 20 million alongside with other 9 clubs annually to keep some failed franchises alive and helping them to sign their stud players, although the DetroitRedWings coud need them! These owners are all smart business men so for sure their expenses are just floating into the ticket pricing, without revenue sharing prices would go down. I think overall it's a combination of a lot of things and personally I'd love to see the Joe packed to the rafters again. btw. I know understand why Stevo Y is against fighting so this useless idiot Gudas can do a better job of being a rat and not having to answer to the tough guys, I hope he is pulling that stuff against the Mapleleafs, Bruins or Canadiens. If you reduce fighting or ban it that's exactly what will happen and rather see less rats than less great locker room guys that take pride in protecting star players, rookies and guys who can't defend themselves.

10/10 GDT: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 2

Babcock is regarded as the best coach in the world, hate to say it but it's time for him to show it. Losing against an elite team 1:4 isn't great but still better than losing against average or below average teams, the DetroitRedWings have et to put together a whole 60 minutes effort. Clear salary and send some guys to the Gr, most teams ice a speedy young third line and a tough as nails fourth line. Tatar, Andersson and Nyquist can't be worse than some of the veterans this franchise for whatever reason loves so much, they can't and aren't. I'd rather see one of the former mentioned players making a costly mistake and learning from it, instead of watching some over the hill veterans making the same mistake although they have well over 10 years in the league under their belt. Abdelkader on the second line won't help them much, Weiss is supposed to be the second line center = top 6 role + top 6 salary start playing like that. This team could even have signed a PP quarterback in Raymond, guy has signed for 1 million when everyone knew, the DetroitRedWings would need one badly. Yeah, it's just four games but these four games are looking very much like the team from last year, a team that barely made the playoffs and overarchieved. I am not pressing the panic button because I expected something similar to last year but at least play the young guys and stop throwing them under the bus after bad mistakes, more ice time means more time to learn. Sadly, I remember a time when the only dicussion against teams like the Blues, Nashville, Sunbelts minus Ducks aso. was by HOW MUCH this organization would win, not if... btw. please fix the tapatalk paragraphs thing.

Nashville Predators first nhl game on Oct 10TH,1998

Bernier is off to a great start if he can keep this up, the Leafs might have to make him their new number 1. Surely a tough break for Reimer, who I think is a very good goalie. the Predators should try to load up on young offensive talent through the draft, getting Reinhart and McDavid might be exactly what the doctor ordered. In all seriousness I don't think they are going to be the worst 5 teams in the league but this team needs to get it together, otherwise they might look at another non playoff season. Seeing the very first game of a franchise must have been something special, boy oh boy I would give a lot to go back in time and see the first DetroitRedWings game ever played.

    is anyone happy right now?

I wasn't happy back then and for sure not happy right now. It still boggles my mind how you can play hardball with a guy like Brunner - who at least provided offense - something this team lacked for a long time now and sign a player, who comes back from a serious injury and someone who is more than just over the hill. All that while the players responsible for the playoff run are sitting on the bench or in the AHL watching a slow and boring to watch one line team.

10/10 GDT: Coyotes 4 at Red Wings 2

Seeing the final score and reading about the game I am very glad, I had to miss it. People like me who were never fans of the off season moves are for sure in for a long season. It's just too damn hard to justify what Kenny was thinking this off season. None of the acquired players were highly thought after guys, Weiss already came out and said how he needs to adjust a lot of things in order to fit in well with the DetroitRedWings. I don't even blame him, he was offered a great contract after missing almost a full half season with a serious injury...I would have signed that too! Alfie already looked slow and desinterested last season, add to that the internal problems with an not improving Franzen and you'll end up with 3 problems right away. Looking back I really believe the only way for this organization to finally wake up and finally give the young guns a chance, is to miss the playoffs for the first time since almost forever. This whole crap on hanging on to the vets started with bringing back Sammy The former class of the NHL has now become a team filled with over the hill players with an enforcer called "powerplay" and basically a one line team, I can't believe the ownership is happy with what they are seeing. Even the Calgary Flames realized, it was time to let guys like Iginla go and bring in young guns. Tatar, Nyquist and Andersson should be on this damn team and guess what, they would at least bring some speed and hunger instead of trying to hold on for another big pay cheque. People were bashing how much Clarkson is making but guess what, he brings it all every night will stick up for his team mates and provides energy, I'd rather have him compared to Weiss his salary looks like a bargain. The Coyotes are hardly known for their offense and yet the DetroitRedWings only managed to score two goals against them, will be fun playing against some of the elite teams in the East, but I guess Kenny still likes this super exciting fun to watch 1 line team btw. the perfect human chose his retirement very wisely like always perfectly..
