Ex-Coyotes owner off hook for Gretzky’s $6.5M.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
I certainly wish Gretzky is taking them to the cleaners, want him to get every Penny the league owes the great one + more . -
The players for the most part are fine with the goal, which was really sick but they aren't fine with the celebration afterwards, which I can understand. Great goal, unreal night but tune down the over the top celebrations they aren't well received in hockey.
-
Yeah and it's not like SanJose has drafted in the top 10 or whatever in the last years, they've drafted at the same or even a slightly worse position. Sick moves by the kid and not against a no name goaltender no against the worldsbest goalie even more impressive. Way to go kid

Fully agreed with you, this league is toying around with numbers way too much for my liking. From what I understand Gretzky is still owned the money, just from the NHL and not from Mozes right? Even if not Gretzky has soo much money he wouldn't even have to think about it but I want the NHL to pay him every cent of that contract, they should pay for their mistakes best case would for ever or at least till this undersized idiot is finally gone. -
Wow the Rangers are bad so far gotta feel for King L. the smaller pads are really hurting some of the elite goalies which is a shame. Their defense and offense really need to pick it up soon, even if it's just 3 games the Rangers need to be better.

yup should have been 65 million maybe the league would learn a thing or two after that. -
Will young talent ever speak out against Wings philosophy?
frankgrimes replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
Sadly, you are right maybe it would have been better if this team broke the streak last year. The playoffs have given Kenny a very false impression on where the DetroitRedWings are. Not rushing young players is fine and the way to go but they have proven enough last season. If some f the veterans would be producing points...OK but they aren't. Personally speakingnI thought Tatar was one of the better players against Boston. -
Wow they are equally bad than the US ones. Compare.these jerseys to the Swedish ones and they can't even hold a candle to them. The company in charge and the guy who picked them should be fired.
-
Holler is going to be the next in line for sure I wonder if he would be better served as an assistant? Berube will for sure try to build a tougher team with a defense first focus.

Sure a player like Crosby is the exception but at some point these guys deserve a real chance. I agree with you the DetroitRedWings for now aren't desperate enough to inject youth, which could backfire. Teams can get away with making their young guns working extra hard if they are extremely talented but if not changes are you become the next Calgary Flames. maybe the front office has become to complacent with some veterans who knows but the fact is, Tatar and Nyquist deserve a real chance otherwise they might move on and I wouldn't blame them one bit for doing so. -

Stevie Y can still not sign enforcers and build a soft boring to watch team, so can Rutherford and the other soccer on ice supporting coaches GMs but who the heck they think they are in order to decide how others should be building their teams? I hate to admit it but the Leafs with guys like Orr Mclaren and Frazer are a damn exciting team to watch, even if they lose. Someone already mentioned it, I'd rather watch Leafs versus Habs compared to Detroitredwings against some boring to watch team such as the Rutherford built Hurricanes. When this team was the class of the NHL guys like Koccur, Downie and McCarty also were part of the great hype about this team and now? Skill is diminishing, hits are barely seen and young players have to go through hell in order to get the jobs from long over the hill veterans and yet the anti fighting crowd is still questioning why the interest of fans is going down and the Joe isn't as packed as it used to be? A guy like Downie would have smashed Weber's ugly face through the glass after the Zetterberg incident instead of just getting fined 2,5... -

I think Tatar and Nyquist might reach a pint where they are fed up with getting scratched or sent down in favor of vets. Letting players develop sand over ripen in the AHL. That's the point at which I would hope for Kenny to move up and let another GM take over. but if they ever do their future in this organization would be sealed and like others mentioned, every player would get the White treatment. -
Well Laviolette is to blame here too. He didn't appreciate Carter and Richards sure it was Holmer who lied to them but the Flyers never replaced that scoring punch. For sure Holmer will be the next one, Hextall is already waiting in line. Lavis needs to understand, that you can't just play a run and gun style without did defense. I could see him replacing Noel from the Jets.

Sorry for wanting the young guys and star players to be safe and comfortable outthere. I'd rather be a knuckle dragger, past romanizer than someone who is okay, with watering down the game even more so it becomes soccer or dancing on ice someday. -
Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Like I have said before I wish him well, he doesn't owe the DetroitRedWings anything nor do they. That being said I was one of the few people who wanted him back, his scoring-touch would have helped this team out. -
Forget about Tatar Babcock was quoted saying he was looking for more and that's why Tatar played, but he didn't get it from him...Personally I thought he was one of the better players. Makes you question, what Tatar has to do in order to become a regular on this team same for Nyquist? If you have an elite team and almost every position is helt by better players, I would understand it but this is certainly not the case here. Some veterans on this team are just taking roster spots away from future players. Reading the Brunner thread is funny, the DetroitRedWings could need a guy like him. i also thought the problem lays on the Wing not the Center position, when you have two guys like Z and Pasha you better surround them with quality wingers.

We like our team...? It is really hard to get the identity of the bottom 6, they certainly aren't tough or speedy so what is their propose? Maybe call up some guys from GR and see if they can improve the bottom 6 at the end of the day, the DetroitRedWings need guys to help out Z and Pasha and so far I haven' seen Aflie or Weiss being capable of doing so. I haven't given up on Franzen but the Mule should know one thing, he will get bought out if he doesn't pick it up and his NHL carreer could be over, so if losing 40 % of his remaining contract isn't a motivation for him I don't know what is.

Steve Yzerman wants Game Misconduct penalties for fighting
frankgrimes replied to thegerkin's topic in General
Who cares what other leagues are doing? This is hockey, it's a better game, a game where tradition actually is held high and where codes have to be respected. Hockey without fighting, would be like a car without an engine it doesn't work and weasels like Cooke will have a field day with all the skilled guys and undersized players, if that's better ... Yzerman should really care about improving his goaltending and defense, their offense has been great for a long time but in the end, their D has still long ways to go. Also it's not the fault of other team, that some teams simple refuse to sign tough guys or create energy lines, that's stubborness and blaming the guys who get it is really lame. MacIntyre, Orr and even Scott were on waivers Stevo Y didn't take them so he only has himself to blame and not other teams who are signing these guys for a reason. Rutherford has Westgarth on his roster, one of the better heavyweights in the game and also more than enough problems on his own team, fighting should be the least of his worries. The TSN panel also had a lenghty discussion on that and as usual the media is playing the NHLs puppet, lobbying for less fighting. It is so funny how often the fact, that players want guys that can protect them and other team mates is going to get overlooked. Rosehill knee'd Frazer (injured) Orr didn't like it and went after Rosehill, the rest of the game Rosehill played less but when he played he toned it down. The so called Smurfs from last season (Canadiens) won more fights than one of the toughest teams in the NHL, that's what great locker room guys like Parros can do for a teams confidence but yet the media is trying to lobby for an even more watered down game. Hockey is tough, violent and sometimes hard to watch if people can't or aren't willing to deal with that I am sure the soccer-mums and soccer-dads of the world can find some swimming or dancing schools for their kids...soccer on ice =/= hockey! -
Baertschi and Zibanejad thrown under the bus publically
frankgrimes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
I don't know why, but Kenny used to be a trademaster, UFA god and over the years he has lost this mojo. The DetroitRedWings and Senators are both looking for the same thing, more offense and #1 shutdown defenseman. Sure DD might be one in the future, but so far the DetroitRedWings aren't having one. -
Just did some usual tsn video searches and found out, that Muray has thrown Zibanejad under the bus stating he wasn't impressed with his camp and therefore sent him down. I am very sure this has nothing to do with Melynk being cheap and rather pay 70k instead of 925k for a rookie... Burke - who isn't even the GM - stated that he isn't thrilled with Baertschi , moaning about his lack of "playing all 3 zones" and compete level... If this is the way canadian teams are dealing with their prospects it doesn't come as a surprise that some people don't want to play there. I mean, demote the guys and give them the reasons for doing so internally but going public with this crap and destroying their confidence and maybe the relationship is just wrong. sent from a mobile device autocorrections errors are possible!

Especially the fourth line looking at Boston's and Toronto's heck even the Canadiens fourth line is making me think, if we are ever going to see something at least close to that? these ate exactly the type of games were having an energy line comes in handy...tired stars, not much going right so a good fourth line can really help out.

I fully expect Miller ending up in Pittsburgh if Fleury. sucks again in the playoffs. On the other hand I am pretty sure Miller is sick of his current team and no help whatsoever tough call to make. Miller being from Michigan would be another bonus but judging by salary and age I would stick with Howard. Although Miller is the better goaltender right now.

Well going to watch the Leafs Senators game now. Hope they can bounce back against some weaker teams.

not surprised the Bruins are just better in every aspect.
