Congratulations Damien, wishing him all the best and tons of goals After seeing this deal I think it is clear, this wasn't about money it was about getting a top 6 role. sent from a mobile device autocorrections errors are possible! -

0 http://www.edmontonjournal.com/touch/story.html?id=8947698 Pittsburgh just got a lot softer, Engelland now has to do all the rough stuff alone good job Sheri... wanted Smack. before joining the East, screw your off ice policy Shanaban the Oilers acted in the best possible way. -
I think this is a good deal for them Morrow provides leadership and grit something the Blues are lacking apart from Backes.and Rives

Usually I'm not cheering for injuries but Cooke and Torres are the exception. The ice just has become a lot saver for the players.

Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Hey NHL how about this 15 outdoor games a year so all franchises are getting their NOVEL game, this league the board of governors and the PR are the biggest joke either. Instead of locking out the players one should lockout the leagues frontoffice, because they don't care about integrity nor tradition. our beloved game is going downhill fast. -
lovingnit that's oldschool hockey, Clarkson is showing a lot of balls for going after Scott. Would not have a chance though, more stuff like this please that's my type of hockey.

Wang is too cheap for something like that, which is sad because the Isles are a young exciting team.

Concern doesn't always mean that someone isn't excited. All I can say is, some fans will be surprised with the style of play in the East the DetroitRedWings should have looked no further than the Canadiens, Bergervin is not stupid there is a reason why he brought in Parros and Tarnasky.. Yes, having to face 4 instead of 1 original six team is going to be awesome so is a better timeframe but every team is going to bring an extra effort against the DetroitRedWings no matter what. So at least from my point of view excitement meets concern.

well playing a more responsible role after a top 4 defender has left the fame is a huge task for everybody and sadly White never pulled it off. I could see him signing PTO with the Oilers they could need a veteran presence in their locker room
-
Another great move by the great NHL giving the Winter Classic to the Caps before the state of hockey, totally deserving of course... God when skill the owners finally wake up and hire a good guy
-
Wow sadly for him White has really fallen down the depth chart, hopefully he can find a job somewhere. There are lot worse defenders than him maybe his salary demands are too high ?

Gallant and Barch find a way around the new helmet rule
frankgrimes replied to vladdy16's topic in General
This league is tun by a bunch of overpaid idiots, who have no clue about the game, it's code integrity or honor. I applaud both these guys for showing the league who stupid their rules are. This stupid midget doesn't even know, that helmets are causing more injuries than punches between enforcers. So all the damn lawyers should take a backseat and let the enforcers do their job, I'd rather have the owners paying 8 million for a guy like Barch or Gallant instead of wasting it on an undersized midget. hope, all enforcers are going to do it so the league can f...itself -
http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/darren_dreger/?id=432255 sadly, it looks like the best owner in all of sports is going to hand over the ownership :-(

With summer finally getting closer to be finished and training camp about to start, I think it might be an interesting topic to discuss the new/old enemies and why some here (don't) fear them. For me there are two teams I really fear, because they are by far the toughest SOBs in the NHL. 1. Toronto Maple Leafs Maybe their playoffseason was a fluke, maybe not but in terms of grit and toughness this team is going to be a hell to play against. With the edition of Clarkson and Bolland Leafs have gained even more size and Carlyle has a bunch of options to play his matchup games against Detroit. They can role their skilled players, form a checking line or even send the energy line (Orr MacLaren!) out against the Wings. Over the course of a full season, checking everything that moves will leave a big toll on some of the older players and the skill might dimish even further. At least their goaltending and defense aren't that good so that should be a chance for the Wings but if the games are going out of hand, I really fear for our young guns and star players, Orr is going to have some fun for sure... 2. Boston Bruins Skilled, young, tough and elite goaltending. Finding a way to beat this team is not going to be an easy task and I really hope Babcock has some tricks under his sleeve. Detroit can't outskill them like the Hawks did, they can't outtough them either so the best bet would trying to make Chara tired and force him to play against Datsyuk and Zetterberg as often as possible. I know there are teams like the Penguins but as long as they aren't dressing MacIntyre I don't fear them at all, they might beat the Wings with their skill game but Pittsburgh isn't that tough and thanks god the careerkiller known as Cooke has been dealt.

Big Red Wings Announcement coming tomorrow
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I would but I highly doubt my gf too, but icegirls should be an absolute must for every franchise ;-) -
Yeah ESPN the team that first invested heavily into scouting all over the world, is now copying the Blackhawks. Do these guys even watch/read about hockey? The DetroitRedWings like all teams, that are drafting late in the first round have to count on boom/bust picks combined with some surefire 3 - 4 liners and develop them in the best possible way. Everyone - including me - could pick a top 5 draftpick it doesn't take much time to go outthere and announce we're pleased to select from... but after the top 5 things are getting interesting and scouts have to earn their money from here on. The Perfect Human is a 5 round pick!

9/19 Pre-Season GDT : Red Wings 8 at Bruins 2
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Nice win and all but I wouldn't put too much stock into it, most teams are using the preseason for trying out things, because the rosters for the most part are already complete -
Ryan-Nugent-Hopkins re-signs with Edmonton 7yrs/42m
frankgrimes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Well RNH is extremely talented and the team must like what they've seen from him, it's always better to overpay them now and underpaying them once their value is through the roof. 4 years from now this deal could look like a steal, give this kid time to bulk up and he is going to be a beast. -
Big Red Wings Announcement coming tomorrow
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I am sure it's not the last part, because they've said something fans would like. Maybe Yzerman is sick of being the GM on a budget team and returns as Hollands co.? Another possibility would be a new sponsorship deal (why should a fan like that?). -
Big Red Wings Announcement coming tomorrow
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Man, I hope its him coming back for one more year. but sadly it will be the ownership hand over to Chris. -
Hardly think this is funny, it will be a very sad day once the best owner in all of sports is going to hand over the ownership. I don't know if Chris has the same motivation, drive and dedication to spend whatever it takes in order to ice a winner. Judging form what I have seen form Chis he comes off more as the business first, dedication way later type of guy, if thats true the DetroitRedWings future will not be good. Wasn't Chris the one responsible for hiring Wilson and this awful arena marketing thing? If so, looking "forward" to more sponors and other comercial crap coming before the team...

Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He will easily improve their atrocious offense, Brunner doesn't need to be a good two way player if he can score goals - which he obviously can - this will be a great signing for the NewJerseyDevils. I'd much rather have Brunner back who could be long term solution instead of 1 year from Alfredsson -
http://www.edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/edmonton-oilers/Eakins+honour+only+current+players/8915321/story.html Sorry for posting another not DetroitRedWings related story but I think it just shows, how thankful we as Wingsfans can be to not have those kind of things happening to this club. I thought Eakins would be a great coach and somewhat of a mentor someday, but messing with the past Liewekestyle is an absolute No-Go. I mean the Oilers were one of the last great dynasties they've had Gretzky, Messier, Coffey and Hamilton all numbers are retired and this newbie-coach is taking them off? As a fan I would be pissed for not showing respect and honor of the past, I don't buy into the argument that this would be too much pressure for the new guys usually seeing former greats should help keeping them motivated and focused.

Oilers Headcoach Dallas Eakins removing past pictures
frankgrimes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
messing with history is always a big deal and even if it's just minor. Wonder if the next coach will put them back in
