It's not like the guy hasn't skated during his time off or trained hard but expecting the number 1 job after 1 year might be a stretch. This could very well become a lesser Brodeur/Schneider situation. Markstrom would learn from a Stanley Cup winner, a Vezina winner who had unreal save percentage it doesn't get better than this. Although with the defense the Panthers are having, both numbers won't be good that's for sure.

Why create a thread about them after all? I think they are both fantastic player I also like their nickname as "Sedin Sisters" you never hear/read a bad thing about them, Sedins are known to be the hardest workers on the whole Canucks team and they are also the best ones. Hardly surprises me that they can't get the job done in the playoffs, the enemies just have to focus on them shut them down and basically the Canucks are done, they have traded away a lot of good young players and now are basically a one line team.

Rookie you're most looking forward to watching this season

Dekeyser by far, he is from Michigan a big kid and I hope he bulked up, can you imagine what he could with 215+ lbs? -
Kadri, Maple Leafs agree to two-year deal.

Looks like more and more second contracts are used as bridge deals, fair for both sides. -
Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff makes it official: He's retiring.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Yeah sure the best goalie they've ever had is a quitter. Kipper Iginla who was the the best player in the world back then, are the reason for the Flames only appearance in a Game 7 Stanley Cup final. I am glad, he is going out on top and not having to play behind a team, which could be the absolute worst in the NHL. -
Well if they want a real mentor Timmay is the one to go. Bryzgalov will end up in the Khl The question is why should he sign there and move his family again?

Nice one Armstrong way to show respect and appreciation for your best player, who's potential is only limited by the sky.

Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC

Nothing against Cleary I wish him well but it was time to move on. The Detroit Red Wings need to get younger and also meaner. So good luck in Philly you are going to need it Cleary. -
Well if your best line is based on Jagr and Zajac the team is usually in for a long season. New Jersey Devils have to hope that Larrson steps up, Schneider sharing duties with Brodeur and of course other young players having a great season. To me that's a lot of ifs but I certainly wish them well.

Hope he remains as a goalie coach, still sad that Murphy was let go.
-
I think neither will. Sure Jagr has 19 to go but his team is atrocious and could very well become the worst team in the east alongside the Panthers. Selanne and the Ducks are much better so if I had to choose I would bet on him, Jagr did nothing for the Bruins.

I'am very happy for Timmay classy guy and a great mentor for Markstrom. Boyes will be a great tutor for Gudbranson. Hope, Timmay Thomas will return to his allstar-style.

Flyers just like the Wings are on the second tier so I would not write them off just yet. Although their goaltending will be key once again. -
Flames hire Brian Burke as president of hockey operations.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
They might try but especially in terms of Phil the Thrill Kessel I do not think, he will sign in another Canadian city. He is a lowkey almost shy guy, who does not like distractions and giving interviews all the time but if Calgary really overpays for him, they might get him as a rental.. Phaneuf is the captain of the Leafs and seems to like it in Toronto, so I highly doubt he wants to go back to his old team, just because they have hired his former GM as a vice president. -
NHL plans to bring back World Cup of Hockey.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Want to really grow revenue eh? Bring back the Nordiques and move some teams to Canada instead of trying to force it. Personally I do not care about a world cup or world championship, I care about the Olympics, Stanley Cup an my hometown championship. The NHL may have lost more than they thought with this lockout, deservingly so but their way of going to make up for it is equal ridiculous *killing the last appeal the Winter Classic had and recreating something that has not worked* oh well...guess we will have to wait and see going to tak that approach and laugh if it fails. -

Well he has to impress them and pass the physical test but eeven Holmer wouldn't give out such a contract easily. -

Calgary's masterplan will be something like this: 3 rounder for Colton Orr or McLaren 2 firsts and a second for Phil Kessel Baertschi + + + for Dion Phaneuf which Nonis will decline Trade Hudler to hopefully not DetroitRedWings trade for Steve Macintyre overpay for Reimer or Hiller So their rebuild ist not going to be a long and right one -

I am sure ripping apart young players for playing a meaning less tournament days before the real test *training camp* is starting, is the way to go...not. Looks like the guy is really getting desperate after this hire, this could quickly turn into a huge mess too many faces in the front office and an atrocious on ice product.. -
Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff makes it official: He's retiring.
frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Yeah this will be difficult for every goaltender, no defense and no scoring support not even the King could backstop this team out of a top 5 pick. -

Not his fault Kipper made his intentions clear, Feaster just didn't listen. He asked them to make it official but for whatever reason the Flames waited this long. -

Same some players just deserve that cup so much, Kipper and Henrik are obviously two extremely deserving ones. -

Best goaltender Calgary ever had, enjoy your retirment Kipper well earned and much appreciation. Flames are going to be in for a long long season and years of rebulding, this is not going to be easy.. -

frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
A place like Toronto and the incredible scrutiny which comes with it is better off with lowkey guys such as Dave Nonis. Burke would be very good GM if he would focus on his job, keep his bully mentality and viewings to himself. Calgary may not be a high pressure market but he is certainly not patient enough for a long long rebuild. Feaster on the other hand is overblown with the job add to that Ken King and the mess is in full swing. Expect Hartley to be fired very soon and RW to replace him. -

frankgrimes replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
So basically King > Burke > Feaster << leaves takes away control from Feaster, because if Burke doesn't sign the trade or acquisition will fall through, if Burke signs than King has to sign otherwise it again fails through I don't know if that hiring will change anything for Calgary. Burke is known to be an impatient guy and the Flames are just starting their rebuild.
