Max Domi could be the steal of the draft, if he continues to add muscle but I think the Wings should either go for a shutdown defenseman OR a powerforward type of a guy, which Domi is not.

Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years
frankgrimes replied to a topic in General
Agreed, this would give them two very dangerous lines but if they choose Torts there is no way, a guy like Filps would sign there. Also they have to make some tough decisions this season, buyout Luongo and Biallard? If I were Acquilani I'd put Ballard on LTIR, buyout Luongo and go from there. -
So instead of getting rid off the skill competition known as shootout, they are now going to dictate the moves? This is beyond stupid. Either get rid off the thing or if not, don't touch it no need to get overly technical.

Nothing against him, but stay away from Briere please. Wings are going to get younger, bigger Briere doesn't match the new direction. The Flyers are really handeling their players like crap at some point this will come back and haunt them.

Ilitch reveals plan for new $450m, 18,000-seat Red Wings arena
frankgrimes replied to Ally's topic in General
If hockey arenas need less of something, it would be the damn business seats and more seats for the real fans. Personally I am always shaking my head about such stuff. These guys are all billionaires and they want a new arena, fine go pay for it and leave the tax payers money alone for way more important things (education, safety, better enviroment). As for the name I think should be something, like the Howe, Lidström, Illitch, Yzerman or Pasha arena just not a stupid sponsored name. Though my worries are very slim here, because the Wings are just too classy in order to do something like that. -

Some of these mainstream reporter are always having a boner for the more "skilled" team, just the way the media is. -

Looks like the series will be going at least six games now. Bostons worst game and Chicagos best so far -

If true bye Filps, have success wherever you are going to sign. I can really see the Blue Jackets making a big push for him. -
Who didn't predict that? Bickell acted like a bully because neither the Wings nor Kings for whatever reason pushed back but...guys like Lucic, Thornton and Chara for sure did, as seen on monday.Bickell beeing a very strong guy isn't used to that stuff, so the hard reality finally caught him.

Is Toews having trouble to score? For sure but keep in mind he is up against a tower named Zdeno Chara and a great goaltender in Tuuka Rask. Sure he acted like an idiot against the Wings but nowhere near as whiny and bitchy as Cindy. The Penguins especially Malkin and Crosby are so used to getting their way, they just can't handle it if these are pushing back or are simple...just better...it was evident against the Isles, Flyers and the Bruins I don't think Toews should be named in the same sentence just because of one idiotic performance. People are quick to forget, that Yzerman had his special events with the referees too, it is just part of being a captain. Just having hard time with the "what have you done for me lately" mentality. Sure elite players are judged by stats but there is so much more than just looking at a stats sheet. -

As much negative attention Toews is getting, I'd still take captain serious over any player not named Crosby or Stamkos. The guy just screams Yzerman 2.0 -

When all is said done, even though getting your number up in the JLA is extremely difficult #13 has to be there. He took one for the team, great cap hit and awesome length, thank you Pasha looking forward to 3 more years, what a great player. -

Marchand isn't so tough without the Bruins tough guys having his back isn't he? Hate that guy -

Oh look the finals aren't looking so good for big bad guy Bickel. Facing someone who will push back in Thornton might be new for him *g* -
And thats exactly what I kind off like, it is always funny with them. If am Regier I'd be looking at Brayden Schenn and Couture for a signed Miller, Holmer might be desperate enough to do it. Remember the Carter and Richards to LA stuff? Pure gold

Everything is a probem if it goes against Edzo and his Hawks. I am very sure, the lights are too bright... -

Wow the ice is extremely bad in Boston. Don't they have some on ice cooling? -
I like this every season you can count on the Flyers doing something brave. Their GM really has balls of steel. But honestly what did people expect? Streit 14,25 over 3 years with the Islanders so it was clear, he wanted more aav and termwise. Wouldn't surprise me if the Flyers are in on the Luongo, Miller chances too. Also I highly disagree with not allowing Pronger to stay on LTIR. The guy has no peripheral vision since months, you can not force him to come back, let him fight through it on LTIR and hopefully he can back.

Young gifted scorer, who had a nice first NHL season with no training camp and soon to be UFA. i f the Wings lowball him, he will sign elsewhere so he has all the leverage here. I'd say something between 2,8 and 3,2 would be fair for both sides.
-
because we are talking about perfectly trained adults here, they are the players and I would guess that they now exactly what is best for them and what is not.
-
Agreed, I am not against Weiss but only if the Wings can afford him on top of Horton/Clarkson. People have to keep in mind, Wings need to drastically change their philosophy regarding size and toughness if they want to survive the east.

After reading this it's crystal clear someone is as big a Tootoo fan as possible I'd rather get a guy like Prust OR a real enforcer plus a solid fourth line guy, but to each their own.

Isles got a 7 rounder for the marks to Mark Streit, may not seem much but at that pricetag the Wings should be able to get a 4 rounder for the rights to Filpulla. Better than lettimg them walk for nothing...
