Never change a running system that said, I'd probably go with the current lineup no changes at all.

Yes you should do so, every arena should see the famous octopus, octopus the world! My recommendation would be to throw it, when you feel like you've gotten your moneys worth. Sure they might escort you out, but who cares if its just a few minutes before the end, that way you are also going to avoid the heavy traffic. Thread has potential to be the best one of the year so far, hopefully they are going to show it live on TV hopefully the octopus will reach the blue-line :-)

Which things from the past (not just Wings related) do you miss most?

Well the guy is obviously on pair with two guys who destroyed the F1 forever: Mosley and Ecclestone I think these 3 are a legit disgrace to every sport but I also blame the owners, how can you allow a non hockey coming from a different sports-league to run the NHL? Thats just irrational I can't to see what sport he is going to destroy next.. -
The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

My bad, didn't look at the GP you are right, so if the Wings are winning all remaining games they make it but my point still stands: talking about the playoffs can happen, as soon as the Detroit Red Wings are officially in. -

Never assume something, before it actually happens this has just too much jinx potential to be honest. Columbus still holds all the cards, Minnesotta is going to make it too so it will be hard fight till the end I guess. -
Nice win, now focus on the Kings.

Probert was one of the toughest and best enforcers to ever play the game RIP but the good thing is, with the Wings finally moving to the North-East Division they have to bring in two enforcers. East absolutely loaded with these guys, a duo of John Scott and Brian McGrattan would make opponents thinking twice about gooing it up against the "soft" Wings. But if they don't bring in at least one that would be beyond stupid. -
Hate the term must win but this one is as close as it gets so, win it.

The whole thing is crap just like the tweaked fullprice series called NHL .. That said it has to be Pasha

Sadly, there aren't many player coaches anymore but IF Babs is getting replaced I'd want disco Dan Bylsma or Scotty. I still think Babs is the best coach just sometimes way too hard on the young guns. Sent from my BlackBerry

Whole team played like crap in game 7. It wasn't till the last 5 minutes the Wings dominated that series. Sent from my BlackBerry

Honestly the way the jackets are battleng tthey deserve to make it. Detroit needs to focus on Dallas, Minnesotta and maybe St. Louis Sent from my BlackBerry

Nah the undersized 3 for 3 guy would prefer St. Louis versus Carolina or something like that with abysmal ratings... Sent from my BlackBerry

Oh boy do I miss these times Wings were a beauty back then, scoreboard and hardnosedwise. Downey beating the down on some Avs idiot after cheapshotting our former 5. In case of helmets though I think players should be able to decide if they want to wear one or not. Yes, I did enjoy seeing the Wings sitting on top with double digit protuberance knowing, they would absolutely steamroll over teams like the Avs or Blackhawks. The current edition lacks identity, they aren't a skilled or hardworking nor a tough team so were is the identity? Overall the whole new NHL is just crappy and boring there is a reason why people are hesitant to take part in hockeybets, the game is just too unpredictable and killed by this parity crap, sometimes its unwatchable. Guys I miss the most are Stevie, Downey, Kocur, McCarthy, Lidas, Holmer, Shanahan, Draper, Fedorov, Hossa Sent from my BlackBerry -
Normally I am against line-swapping too but really Babs hands are tied here. He has tried almost everything this season and nothing seems to be working. Playing Datsyuk and Zetterberg on one line= opponents are going to focus on that line because they know, other lines will be just that normal lines. Seperate both = they have to carry each line by themselves so in the end less firepower but a more balanced lineup. Looking at the state of this roster, there aren't many other options for Babs right now. Other players have to step it up and provide some help to Z and D otherwhise the line-swapping will continue, because like I said Babs doesn't have a lot to work with.

Cory Schneider, who is very comparable to Howard is making 4 m each can't believe Holland used him as an example, to get a lower caphit out of Howard. That said I still think Howard is this teams MVP this season, with him signed it is now time to fix the defense. Sadfully this will not be an easy task looking at the so called top UFA list is just a shame: http://www.capgeek.com/ No outstanding defenseman and not even prime-time forwards, so drafting smart is going to be the key here, because this is probably the most boring UFA class ever (thank you NHL). At a point like this in the season, Holland normally would have started contract talks so I guess its save to say, that Filpulla and Ian are going to walk for nothing, which is a mistake because desperate teams would have given up some draft picks for at least Filpulla. I don't care about making the playoffso r not, I care about the bigger picture here and rather not make the playoffs if it means getting swept by our hated rivals.

I lol'ed good one, I am talking more about some nice teddies like this one
-
Thing with Howard is, he needs to come up big when the team needs him the most. This guy has to show - given the Wings are making the playoffs - improved playoff stats because he hasn't been very good in them. Although I agree so far he is the Wings MVP of the season, followed only by Datsyuk
-
Good move and I hope the manhunt does not stop till they find the guy and then feed him to the Sharks piece by piece!

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings
frankgrimes replied to bardownginos's topic in General
Very good point I fully agree just wanted to add something: The Detroit Red Wings used to outskill almost every other team, these guys aren't prepared to work hard and grind it out nor does Babcock haas the roster to do it. I always thought, that Holmer was extremely underrated, he was one of the best ever to position himself in front of the net and screen the goalie, we have no one even close to that category now. Going forward this team needs to become a hardnosed defense first team, because sadly they aren't going to outskill anyone for quite some time, they are getting outskill and outworked (which does bother me way more) ,because a bubble playoffteam should work their hardest at this time of the year. -
Look at this roster and the reality is: this is a very bad Detroit Red Wings edition Babcock can only work with the players he has. Although I am still pissed at sending Tatar down, the guy wokred so hard and did compete harder than a lot of our so called "veterans". Sadly there aren't going to be a lot of top UFAs this year and so there is no easy fix for this mess. If Holland moves up, buy out Stevie from the Bolts and get him in asap I think he could get this ship back on track.
-
Guess most posters around here know, what the NHL wants: The Crosby-Olympics, Summer-Olympics in the desert and 6 olympic games per year at least.
-
I think being a bubble playoffteam is a whole new experience for most of these guys, all cmae to the Wings during the top years and if things got tough, there were guys like Yzerman, Lidström, Shanahan you name them.

Tatar frustrated; says he will only play in NHL when contract done

Can not blame him, guy worked his butt off only to get sent down so stupid. -
Hart - Alexander Ovechkin Vezina - Craig Anderson Norris - Ryan Suter Selke - Jonathan Toews Masterton - Josh Harding Richard - Steven Stamkos Jack Adams - Paul MacLean (Senators are still in the hunt without Spezza, Karlson, weeks without Anderson just unbelievable) Lady Byng - Pavel Datsyuk
