Sacrifice the full season to guarantee Bettman's removal?
frankgrimes replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Sure the next guy will do what some owners want but it could be a fresh start. Whos to say the players are against sticking it to him? He is by far the most hated person in hockey. Hell I Think even Stern could do a better job than him. Fehr has despite late starts to the negotiations done nothing wrong, he provided solutions. What we need are two sides that aren't trying to screw over the other side and this is exactly why the first owner proposal IS a such a big deal. Lose this and another season so the midget can get fired to me is worth it. Sent from my BlackBerry -

So instead of adding anything worthwile, you're just insulting other people? Most of the according to you insane people gave great reasons why they have voted yes. Like others said the season could be toast so at least make it worth it. Midget needs to go so do some of his stupid expansion franchises. Sent from my BlackBerry -
Exactly it would solve all problems I still can't believe this hasn't been brought up as of now. Maybe Fehr is putting it at the table if the owners continue their stupid stance. I know some are optimistic about the season personally I am not so much, but like mentioned in another thread at least hope it will be worth it and the little man will get the boot plus more canadian teams. This is just so funny the owners own crafted CBA nowadays isn't good enough anymore. Maybe the midget saw the NBA NFL crap and was like let's try this crap too forgetting that hockey is different. If we are going that route it should be the MLB one. Sent from my BlackBerry

There is n o way the IIHF would do that, they perfectly know how big the olympics are for hockey. Sent from my BlackBerry

Same here the players and even fans are seeing a pattern here, one that needs to be stopped otherwise this crap will happen twice every decade. The NHL should man up and kick the CBA add a luxury tax and lez teams spend whatever they want. Sent from my BlackBerry

Sure a commissioner will cater to the owners but there are ni excuses for 3 of 3 and tons of failed teams, some even can't make it with revenue sharing, fans want to see superteams instead of forced parity crap. The midget just isn't the right guy for the job we need a guy like Gretzky someone the owners, players and fans respect. It is also the fault of the owners to let Bettman gain power and agreeing to keep some VERY questionable franchises in stupid places. The PA provided solutions and options, the NHL declined so this lockout is their fault and no, I don't blame the PA for calling out these gamblers if I sign a contract I expect and have the right to get it honored. I am starting to wonder how some of them are thinking of their new teams now. The only thing you can blame the PA for is waiting too long other than that' this is an owners lockout forced by an atrocious midget. Tldr sacrifice whatever it takes to get him fired and relocate some teams in irder to get more support and even more revenue instead of wasting it on teams that just aren't hockey markets. Don't read it then? The difference between Jim Devellanos comments and the ones from Crosby, Toews, Zetterberg and Bryzgalov is this: The players are rightfully critisizing a man, who is responsible for failed franchises, 3 lockouts Jim D throwed the players including his own ones under the bus, while portraying the greedy owners and midget as the good guys here. I also disagree that this needs to be fixed, teams gave out contracts they cant afford so either they'll find a way to survive or go under. Nobody is helping family companies in the real world, when they are about to get bought up by some big greedy monopolistic global players and some guys are telling me I should feel sorry for billionaires who can't run their own franchise without revenue sharing? Screw that, I'd rather have a 25, 20 15 or whatever teams NHL without a lockout every 5 years.

Count me in, even if its two, two 1/2 years midget needs to go. -
Just shows you how fed up the players really are, guys like Hank don't come up with such statements usually. I am sure some are close and ready to put the CBA into question and rightfully so. If some teams don't or can't spend who cares why punish those who will and can? I want to see a team like the 2002 Wings again superteams are more entertaining than this boring forced parity crap leading into lockout after lockout as long as the midget is going to be the NHL fiddle I mean commissioner. There is also a big difference between having a rule against free speech or choosing to say nothing. Especially the Jeremy poor owner Jacobs should keep his mouth shut..
-
Well I could fully understand them, the facts especially for Russian players are like this: - playing in a very good league - not having to worry about that 'CBA crap every 5 - 6 years - make even more money - play in front of your family, friends and fans A certain little ***** is not only killing the appeal of the NHL for Russians but also for a lot of other european born players, that is why the players need to break the stupid "our offer or lockout pattern" this time, if it means a multiple year long lockout so be it. Although the NHL does have a ton of marketable players Stamkos, Toews, Lundquist to name a few.
-
Ever heard of the right of free speech? Why do so many pro owner people care about others leagues? I doubt you can receive a concussion in baseball or basketball and footballs revenue is based around a big TV contract, something the NHL doesn't have yet. Once things are getting personal for players, there is more than just money to a story. All the owners are doing here, is removing some of the troubled franchises if this thing will go over multiple years the midget can look at some empty expansion buildings soon.
-
It is an interesting idea really, but there are a couple of problems: Why did the owners at first agree to put these teams into such markets? No one can tell me, that they didn't hire some highly educated research experts and other stuff before voting yes. Cutting some of these franchises could be done easier: Put the non cap world on the table again and decrease revenue sharing, teams who can't even make it with rs are going to be non existant in no time, midget would have to bite the bullet and relocate them. Granted it is just a theory, but I think there are better ways to do that if that is really what some owners are going for.
-
Not true at all: a.) this is an owners lockout. The players and NHLPA would have been willing to play under the old/temporary CBA b.) midget and owners are responsible for placing teams into non hockey areas c.) what the hell is this? dictationship how about the free speech? Z isn't the only one who is RIGHTFULLY fed up with a guy making 8 million a year without any athletic skills at all so are Toews, Crosby, Selanne d.) I'd suggest reading Fehrs interview he gave a clear indication of how things really are instead of avoiding the tough ones like a certain commissioner This lockout will break a lot of the expansion teams especially the sunbelt ones but whatever keep it going over multiple years, if it means Bettman is finally getting the hard boot and some I want to play it poor franchises are going to be relocated into hockeymarkets, it is well worth it.

Now I need to find a way watching NLA streams, this league is absolutely loaded with NHL stars. The writting is already on the wall.
-
Donald Fehr head of the NHLPA gave a great interview http://www.theglobea...article4593338/ Top quotes from the interview I'd advise everyone here to read it, it is really well thought out, positive and shows exactly what a great hiring this guy is. He also pointed out how the players could have gone the catch me if you can route with their first proposal. btw. all these CBA crap doesn't look even look at some insane tax fees.
-
I love it, some superstars are already threatening the NHL because now they do have alternatives and other leagues to play in. If we lose Datsyuk because of this I'll swear I gonna lose it.
-
Exactly we need a guy, who is willing to do the best for the sport, respect its integrity, tradition and style of play instead of wasting money on failed areas and trying to please a bunch of super greedy billionaires, who want to own a hockeyclub but aren't commited to invest in it despite revenue-sharing. There is simple no defense for Bettman, he is the best of example of someone with no atlethic skills, anti-hockey, special stereotype lawyer AND an absolute dirtbag when it comes to tough question on top of the that he hates Canada and players rights and yet. There is no excuse for 3 lockouts in 10 decades, Ireally hope the players tsay strong and hold on to their let's go to war style, otherwhise we are going to have this crap every 6 years and that is simple unacceptable. Mr. Lockout needs to be fired for the good of the game. I think Gretzky would be the best person for the job, a living legend, loves the game and is respected by everyone. Lemieux I am sure this guy would have been thrilled to sign a contract and then only months later, having it changed into less value, great days. Seriously a contract is something both sides have to agree by free will, if the contract gets changed there needs to be an outclause in it and I really hope some Russian stars are being serious about staying in the KHL. This lockout is different, the players are fed up, so is the media and they do have options to play elsewhere and making at least as much money if not more. I know two super easy ways for the NHL to make more money: fire a certain undersized bastard and reward QC with a team, voila two of the biggest problems solved.
-
Remember how most people kept saying the initial offer was just an usual lowball one? Well looks like the players saw it as an invitation for war. This time it is not just about money it is also about staying up to your principles. Some guys girls might believe, the PA hasn't learned from the last lockout, I disagree. Look at their comments and how everyone mentioned that they are prepared for MULTI year long lockout. They do have leverage here the midget does risk the future of teams like Anaheim here. You know teams with a small fanbase which need the casual fan in droves. I am pretty sure the players are as sick as the fans of this 6 years and no they don't owe me anything. I wish Illitch would be leading the way of firing him. Jacobs is hated for a reason he is one wealthy hombre and always playing poor! Woulndn't surprise me if the BoG is heavily filled with pro midget guys. Sent from my BlackBerry
-
Sure they can sit here and defend him but so what? This guy is an absolute enigma to hockey and needs to be canned asap, hell even Daily could do a better job than him and yes including the golfpro! Midget has accomplished: =3 lockouts in two decades thats a 100 % lockout success. =Responsible for failed franchises and not willing to admit it cause of his little man syndrome like Lupul mentioned. = most hated man in hockey = fullfills every stereotype about a certain type of lawyers = destroyed the game and doesn't care about our tradition = no special thanks to he leagues backbone = hated by Illitch = cost DRW fans two years of Yzerman, Fedorov Shanhan and one of the perfect human that alone is enough to hate this damn midget Enough is enough can this greedy bastard. The league as a whole doesn't lose money some franchises are actually making money. Just get rid off the damn CBA and introduce a luxury tax like the MLB. I am sick of seeing the Wings handicapped because some owners want to play it poor. When classacts like Selanne, Toews, Boyle and now our next captain are fed up you know something has gone very wrong. Also the media has jumped on the fire Bettman wagon at some point the owners wont have a choice other than finally firing this 8 million waste of a human. Sent from my BlackBerry

Relocate this effing trolling midget and his damn expansion teams OR for jesus christs sake FOLD them. I hate these bastard owners such as Jacobs go to hell if you want it cheap and take all your greedy billionaires with you. Players wont cave this time and let you mother*** and your damn midget do this crap every 6 years. By the way shove your SUCKING thank you fans crap on your golden toilet. Voting for more Dolans, Pegulas, Illitches and Lemieuxs and less suckers like Jacobs Sent from my BlackBerry

While I agree who is that guy? For years the Wings haven't signed enforcers and there were chances to do so MacIntyre, Scott, McGrattan to name a few. This team needs: Someone to run the powerplay, cause havoc, fight and a stud number one D man. But patience is key here the transistion from a puck possession to a more nasty style is a longterm process. Hopefully Kenny has a plan B ready and personally I believe he does he is the best GM in business so never bet against him *gg* Sent from my BlackBerry

Well yes I side with the players but not 100 %. The only people I am behind so much are the guys and gals whos income depends on hockey you know scouts, equipment managers, bar owners, DJ's and facility managers. I mean if both sides would give 5 % and come together on some small issues such as not capping contract length this lockout could be over soon. Having said that if 5 % still aren't good enough for the midget then he needs to be fired as soon as possible. Sent from my BlackBerry

True that but you know it takes two to make a deal. Shero, Holmer failed too the latter even failed to land Weber not only that he killed our chances of getting him now and in the future. I like your plan plus there a still elite players outthere next year (Getzi and Perry) so if we land them both and trade our more established stars for #1 D men this would be a pretty good start for a rebuild, if you ask me.
