Do you guys honestly believe, both will re-sign with only a small raise? I think you are looking at north of 7 million for each one and something like 10 years +, do the Ducks have that money?
-
All the best Fabian, tear the league a new one there.
-
Ryan I really feel sorry for him, is the new scapegoat in Anaheim. I really like him think he is a great player with a very managable salary for what he brings.

Maybe a poll would be nice but I'll throw in a darkhorse team like Vancouver, they have money and Doan with the Sedins? Wow

Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
frankgrimes replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
Fair enough that is true but let us face it, come UFA day most players are getting overpaid. In terms of Parise and Suter a lot of it has to do with simple math, such guys usually don't make it to UFA ever if they do, you have to overpay to get them or have a nice "hometown bonus". -
Sadly true, playing in that fishbowl and knowing you are "only" the emergency option is for sure a hard thing. I don't know much about him, but why don't they use him as a 3rd line powerforward? He has size and is nasty.
-
Hurting two superstars with guys like MacIntyre or Engelland in their lineup is probably not the best idea :-)
-
Well if Weber wanted out, why didn't he just sign the OS and tell Poile "look this is the team I want to play for don't match"? To be honest after seeing his pricetag I'd rather have Suter.
-
Why do people hate Orr so much? Yes, he is an enforcer - a pretty good one at that - but I just can't understand, why guys like him or McGrattan aren't getting more respect? They are having the toughest job in the whole game. If Orr would be available bring him in.

Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?

Hate so say it, he is playing for our arch-nemesis but Jonathan Toews. -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

Good posting, I guess hardly anyone likes the "we're fine attitude", at least to me it is better, than the option of overspending for players, that don't help us much. Chicago is in on to the Luongo rumours, Nashville even if the lose Weber has Rinne and as we saw and Vancouver, Los Angeles are still the powerhouses of the western conference. Realistically I see us behind the pack, somwhere in the 6+ range. I am having a hard time to understand, on how exactly Parise can be overrated? Young captain, superb work ethic, leading by example and can play north and south of the rink? He wanted to play at home and with Suter, there was nothing we or even the Penguins mind you the chance of playing on a line with Crosby or Malkin could have done. Suter if this wasn't a package deal would have been a Wing I am sure of that. Does Kenny have some work to do? For sure but I trust the best GM in the league to bring in some shortterm solutions and trying to reload next year. Could we have offersheeted Weber? but throwing 14 Million ! at a guy who had two concussions in a row is a big risk one, I am glad we didn't take. -
Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade

At the right price for sure but I highly doubt, the Isles would give him up that easily, if he succeeds he is owned by the Ducks again right? -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
frankgrimes replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
this is Babcock's and to a lesser extent Renney's job. -
Like I said before Semin at a capfriendly one year deal is worth a risk, otherwhise Doan.

For 5 million hell yes....

The way I see it, we have two options: 1. save money for next yer and see what our young-guns are worth 2. settle for non toptier players, clinge somehow into the playoffs and getting our asses handed to us by Vancouver, LosAngeles, Chicago or Nashville To me options 1 seems like the better one here. -
If Ryan gets traded you can be sure, it will be out of the conference so probably Pittsburgh or Boston as future destinations for him.
-
You gotta feel sorry for the BlueJackets fans, their GM is an absolute clown: 1. refusing the whole Islanders draft picks because he doesn't want to move down 2! spots 2. rather getting robbed heavily, before trading him to a western conference team There are really only two pieces worth mentioning in this deal: Dubinski after some kind of a down year could bounce back and of course the first rounder, which will be in the 20 + range. Can't believe people are again blaming Holland for that, Howson would have never traded him to use deal with it.

Exactly if GMs are willing to take the risk let them do it. I can't wait to see the players reaction offer it will for sure set the tone going forward and give us a better look at the possibility of a lockout.
-
Like someone said this is easy: - Give Bettman the boot this is the most important thing get rid of this guy once and for all - stop the PR fiasco because some teams just don't have a big enough fanbase to support an NHL team - lower the floor but increase the cap - get rid of the NMC/NTC minimum age - swtich Winnipeg and Detroit So what? Then they have to settle for other players, problem solved.
-
Stop bitching about the front-loaded contracts o u r GM invented them and there is nothing wrong, really. It is a gamble and a big one at that, but in most cases both sides win the GMs are getting to lock up their top players for more cap friendly deals and the players are getting stability for the rest of their career. Will be so funny seeing the players asking for the moon too and telling the NHL to shut up or put up.

Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)
frankgrimes replied to a topic in General
Very good read Matt, thanks for posting that and I heavily agree: IF Weber really wanted out, he would have signed an one year contract and then become UFA next summer, choosing his destination on his own conditions. So this is basically him saying, either Philadelphia or Nashville doesn't matter as long as they pay me and he will get paid even better than Suter.- 469 replies

Highest paid coach in the league by far, surrounded with great talent and arguable the best development programs and yet people think he will walk because two top UFAs chose another team, give me a break.

Keep in mind the owners still have succesful parent companies so they easily use the Preds as advertisment to lower the income and paying less tax fees. The Forbes list proves one thing: The Original 6 are still the backbone of the league and yet we aren 't getting the recognition we should. The 4 1sts are basically very high ones we are talking about 25 - 30 range here, not exactly the type of guys to replace someone like Wever.- 469 replies

Weber wants a cup and getting paid as the elite defenseman he clearly is, so either Nashville pays him or he will become a Flyer making that team unstoppable. Though I still think, we could have made a better one with a caphit of 8.2 sure extremely high but this guy will come as close as it gets to lower the hole our 5 left.- 469 replies
