Nylander is a cocky undersized but very talented kid. Marner will need to add some serious muscle and bulk up a lot otherwise guys like Weber, Chara would absolutely kill him with a check. panik so far has proven way more than Jurco but yeah the anti Babcock crowd has to bring him up of course. The 2012 draft so far has been a disaster for the wings

it's unbelievable the companies designing this stuff are getting paid millions and then come of with something like this? I think in terms of Canucks the killerwhale on the retro jerseys would have looked much better. I mean how hard is it to come up with a real logo instead of a slightly customized NY?

P.K. Subban Donates $10 Million Dollars to Children's Hospita
frankgrimes replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Didn't you know it's more important to pay a boatload of money for over the top arenas so billionaires can "afford" them and won't relocate a team, instead of giving it to firefighters, police, hospitals and educational stations such as collegues. -
smart trade for the Leafs they get some space in terms of contract and a speedy winger. If Grabner plays well he'll get a better contract and the Leafs will ship him out for a pick.

Will go to Kopitar and his new contract deservingly so -
Black Jersey with a white somewhat designed logo this screams Yormark this is easily as bad or maybe even worse than the Canucks going from the cool C with the killerwhale to the stick with the rectangle. If I were an islanders fan I'd be pissed of colors are part of the tradition

As always if something like this happens: mad respect great gesture. Jeremy Jacobs donated 30 million too Mad respect to both of them -
Exactly and even if the NHL won't be the first league to do it - that's going to be the soccer league - that freaking worldcup is already proof enough of what we can expect, IF the companies are going to WOW Mr. grow the game...

signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)
frankgrimes replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
exactly being a defender involves preventing the other team from scoring which in turn means clearing the crease, box out opponents, dish out hits, block shots or if needed drop the gloves. It's nice that green will add points on the PP but he also will have to prevent instead of just expecting Danny D. to do the dirty work for him. -

is it important? of course it is but it can't be the only thing a defender is good at, which is why the Norris has become such a joke.If Green pulls a Rafalski I'd be more than happy and the first to admit I was wrong. -

yeah that was just strange I don't think he is a top pairing guy but someone you can trust on the second pairing.Green has yet to show that he is more than a very good QB on the PP. -

Yep thats exactly what he is and why he was paired with Phaneuf for most of the season. Laviolette and his all run and gun style was the perfect miss match for Franson.Green was the 5 defenseman on the Caps so how about some realism here. The expectations for him are already too high and he hasn't even played a game yet how about waiting how he will fit in under Blashill? and yeah given the choice between Franson at 3,3 and green at 6 per I'd take Franson. -

I know that he can't be replaced. And yes, I would have prefered Franson, he is a big body, somewhat physical (an area the wings are lacking heavily in), reliable in his own end and can put up some points too. Is he a top pairing guy? No, but neither is Green. Green for the Norris back then was a joke and still is. If he is a liability in his own end I expect him to end up on the third pairing just like he did in Washington. If he can QB the PP and not be a liability in his own end then this could be a good signing. it's up to him -
No worries I honestly thought Keith was getting robbed in terms of Norris this year. He does get a lot of credit finally and more people are mentioning him in the same sentence as Toews which is only fair because Keith is that good. Seabrook in my mind is very underrated although he allows Keith to do the things he does. Seabrook is a big body , can our up points and is very good in his own end. Those 2 are without a doubt the best pairing in the nhl right now.

It's corrected now I mean if Dmac is not only ok but also honored by it that's great. For sure nobody should have to phone 31 + players but I think getting in touch with the guy who wore it before and is beloved by the fans is a classy thing to do. I would chosse the shutdown D-man because the job of a defender is well...to defend and that to means prevent the other team from scoring. Sure guys like Lidstrom and Niedermayer put up unbelievable numbers but they were also elite defensively and made the right decision day in night out. I expect Green to put up points on the powerplay but I also expect him to prevent the other team from scoring and not be a defensive liability, otherwise the points he'll add on the PP won't mean much because the GA would also increase. -
Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16

If he has an outstanding camp I think he'll get his 9 games and then they'll send him back to bulk up and round out his game in the AHL. -

I have said I'm sure he would have been ok with it. Your quote confirms that.yeah Green should put up points but his job is to prevent the other team from scoring too. As far as the history is concerned I don't think every player is aware of all the traditions in different organizations but when they sign there I'm sure they'll learn about and appreciate it. Mike Babcock said it best playing in the NHL is great but playing for an Original 6 franchise is greater. -
The meh move was targeted at the Versteeg, Nordstrom trade both aren't anything special and the Hawks should be able to replace them. Sure the Hawks would have 10,5 on cap space but they need to extend Seabrook which will cost a lot and find someone to make up for losing Kane. Cap space is nice and everything but if there aren't any players to use it on a team won't get better, which is why Sekera of all people got the biggest contract this off season, I am not counting Tarasenko because he wasn't an ufa.

I'm not saying the number should be retired but if someone is coming into the organization they should know a bit about the history right? I mean signing with another team to me also means looking at the tradition, how things are done and learn about the beloved players in the city. I mean Super Mario's number is not retired league wide and yet nobody is wearing 66 out of respect. Or another example even if Pasha won't have his number retired 13 will always be Pasha for me. Guys like DMac are so easy to like they've worked hard to make to the but show and then they've worked even harder to stay on the team and add a very important dimension. And this is not just Wings specific there is a reason why guys like Clark, Tucker and Gilmore are some of the most beloved Leafs ever although not the most talented. If people don't like him fine but to act like 25 isn't a special number is wrong for a lot of fans it is and always will be. I mean if Green really wants the number that much at least do the classy thing and ask DMac if it's ok for him. I'm more than sure he would have said sure go ahead and the optics would be a lot different. -

well I'm not surprised that the let's turn hockey into another ***** sport fans aren't showing a man like DMac the respect he deserves. This guy was not only a fan favorite even other tough guys looked up to him as some sort of role model. This guy gave his all and even more and was a huge part of the golden age group. I would kill to have someone like him or a young Shanahan on the roster wiping the floor with guys that try to take advantage of smaller players . Mike Green should have known a bit about the history and take another number that's all I'm saying. -
Further prove that Super Mario is a really smart guy, the Pens value is at an all-time high and their cup window is 2 years maybe 3 at best. Unless the Pens are getting another Superstar I don't see them being worth the same amount of money again. Although I doubt someone will pay that much for a non original six franchise which has a fragile fan support. I am sure the new arena is worth a lot but even then the asking price is too high..If the Penguins are worth so much the Wings should be worth at least a 1 billion. None the less an interesting story but man thinking about the Pens without Super Mario is strange this guy basically is their franchise. And since it all starts at the top I can't believe some Penguins fans would welcome such a change

well there are so many numbers Should have picked another one choosing 25 is wrong that's DMac's and always will be! -
well they would lose one Heck of a player but that's really a meh move. their priority should be to re-sign Seabrook and that will cost at least 7x7
