Ok my bad then sorry, yeah Rogers is well just annoying and tsn crushed them again with their trade dead line. See that's the difference I don't care about the other teams, if the Wings win in let's say a 7 team league that's way more entertaining than watching them aging and struggling to make the playoffs and on top of that not being THE July 1 team, not long ago this was our second Christmas Don't get me wrong the Blackhawks can go down as much as much as possible but I don't think punishing successful teams is the right thing. For sure I feel a bit of satisfaction watching other teams going through the same crap we've gone through since 2009

Read the listed link I am not talking about one game or series it's an overall evaluation. If you don't understand why having super teams is important than search the definition of them. Also my goal is to watch the best possible Wings team if others can't compete because their owner doesn't want to spend or they've hired the wrong people that's their problem and one I couldn't care less about. As much as I hate the Blackhawks I don't believe teams should be punished for having success and especially not for building a dynasty.

Nope sadly a yahoo link and their site is just....https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh-game/despite-decreased-ratings--rogers-rates-first-year-of-nhl-deal-a-success-212225823.html I'm just saying it's super-teams that people even not interested in the sport are going to know about, the more super-teams the better and even better if those teams can keep their talent. The Kings are far from being done, they'll get rid of the Voynov contract sign someone else to replace him yeah the Richards thing (rightfully) is going to hurt them but given their age group LA's run is far from over. Wouldn't be the least surprised if the win it all this year.

Difference is ratings are down, GMs are starting to get fed up so it's not just fans anymore. I mean I'm not an NFL fan but even I know who the Patriots, Seahawks are a league needs super-teams.

New Ultra-Enhanced Video/Renderings of the Arena District
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Whether people believe in New arenas or not I think one thing is clear: if billionaires want new shiny state of the art and even above that arenas pay for them with your own money..Lord knows those guys have more than enough of it. Personally I would go as far as calling it crime if politicians - who by all accounts should work on behalf of the people - agree to such ludicrous deals. There is no way that a new arena should lead to closure of much more important stuff like education facilities , libraries, hospitals. I mean it's proven that the city is Alex's getting the short end of the stick here. As much as I admire all the things that the best owner in all of sports has done something like this is not something were I agree with him but I for sure understand that he had to stand up for his biggest project. The politicians on the other side should be on the hook with their own money and not the tax payers one. So the right answer would be want a new arena pay for it with your own money, period. If that leads to a team threatening to leave call their bluff -
Semin can just play at home and make out like a bandit I really don't understand why he hasn't done soo already. As far as Devane I don't think so, the west is loading up with tough players and I doubt they want Weber to do all the fighting for Nashville
-
Leafs have traded Jamie Devane to Nashville for Taylor Beck http://www.tsn.ca/leafs-acquire-beck-from-preds-for-devane-1.330412 And just like so the Leafs team is even getting softer. Man wish we could have traded for him, cheap fourth liner with great size and 3 line potential. Steal for Poile I think people after waiting till Franson's asking price will come down but then I expect Nill on line one as great as the stars offense is, the defense needs help.

Signed Gustav Nyquist signed 4-Year Deal $4.75 mill AAV
frankgrimes replied to e_prime's topic in General
Yes, it's a nice deal but I honestly expected him to get more. Sure it's nothing to turn your nose at and it sets him up nicely for the future by only giving up 2 ufa years. Your post makes a lot of sense I didn't look at it that way but you are right this contract is basically risk prove for both sides -
They weren't in the same conference, the east had Thornton, Lucic, Prout and Prust but the west never had so many of them.
-
Ducks are going to be one tough team this upcoming season. Stewart, McGrattan, Jackman I like the way they are building their team tons of skill and truculence.
-
Glad for him the west should be a lot of fun, McGrattan, Lucic, Jackman, Reeves, Scott, Bourdeleaus, Bollig, Prust all in the same conference tough guys are making a comeback loving it. Seems like teams have learned from this season

Wow Goose left some serious money on the table here. He would have gotten much more on the open market -
signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)
frankgrimes replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
There are tons of other numbers, even if McCarthy's isn't retired Green should take another one....if he can't decide just pick a random one like #34 -
Signed Wings sign left wing Eric Tangradi
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Who's to say that he doesn't make the fourth line or at least get a call up here and there? Even if he only gets 2 call ups I hope it's against Dallas and Ottawa .Are people really pissed off about a depth signing probably around league minimum? Just be happy the Wings finally have a winger who has great size and will win some battles along the boards. -
Signed Wings sign left wing Eric Tangradi
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Finally someone that will add some punch to the fourth line. Hope he has the next Stars game red marked on his calender. I like this signing a lot now 2 other guys like him and the fourth line won't be a joke anymore. -
Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16
frankgrimes replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
Last year this team got embarrassed by Boston, this year they were better but after watching Stanley Cup playoffs is obvious that the Wings are far away from cup contention. Tampa will only get better and the West is well just loaded. Anyhow just don't rush Mantha, Larkin and hope that Pasha can stay healthy. -
Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16
frankgrimes replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
So rushing a young promising center instead of letting him develop at his own pace is less important than maybe keeping the streak alive and having another first round exit? -
Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16
frankgrimes replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
Depends on the injuries and his camp performance just don't rush him, this team isn't going to be a contender so let him develop at his own pace. Maybe a dozen games at max -
Buffalo has had so much cap space to burn they would have offered Kane the moon if he would have become an ufa..think about merchandise from Jersey sales and all that stuff. At one point they were exactly 13 million under the cap floor so bringing in Kane would have made a lot of sense. Same goes for Winnipeg and Toews, a hometown kid who has won 2 cups, 2 gold medals and is just so clutch when needed ? Yup that's when the richest owner in the nhl would have opened his massive pocket. We can argue about semantics all day long but basically a pay cut is defined as a reduced salary so compared to the potential he could have made on the open market yes he took a pay cut..if you are looking at it for the perspective of going from the 2 to the 3 contract then no he didn't. And yes, you are right I am mad at the NHL but I don't view it as a win or victory if a player gets a nice contract. In fact I am not that emotionally attached to these things all I am saying is that I can understand every player who wants to get paid close or maybe even above what they are worth. So maybe people are right and Goose signs a deal for 4 x 4 but I think it would suck if people turn at him because he commands and gets something significantly higher. And guess what if Larkin delivers even 2 cups in 6 years I couldn't care less for what he asks just pay it and enjoy the ride..which sadly is exactly what Toews is doing for the Hawks

Tarasenko re-signs with the Blues (60 mill/8 years)
frankgrimes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Should be 2020 if I'm right -
Never disupted that sure if you throw him in to create a more enticing package for the other team that's a good idea.
-
He was worth it to Toronto so obviously someone thought 50 mill over 8 years is ok. Quennville will for sure get something equal maybe a bit less to that and no it will not be included into the next CBA because the coaches don't have an union and can be fired anytime. What I'm saying is this: if a player is good/great and they CAN demand it and more often than not some teams ARE willing to pay it, wheter they deserve it or not will depend on the team. Saad obviously wasn't wroth 6 mill per for the Blachawks but Columbus thought he'll be worth it. The notion of a "fair" contract is different for many teams and like we've seen here also fans I believe if a player is taking a few hundred grands less that's already a huge paycut some might believe 1 - 2 million is a fair paycut. I mean some Blackhawks fans suggested that both would come in at around 8,5 - 9 million annually which was laughable at best. Also something people have to keep in mind is the other side of the over-ripening effect in the AHL: players are making less money why being there, so they'll look at opportunities to make up for it later. btw. I'm sure if Kane, Toews, Getzlaf and Perry had the opportunity to structure their contracts like this http://www.generalfanager.com/players/1222| http://www.generalfanager.com/players/1576 their AAV would look a lot "better" but they didn't because the new CBA put in more ridiculous rules.
-
Buffalo would have and I'm sure Winnipeg was prepaired to pay Toews the max and guess what Toews would still have been worth it, also people need to finally understand the differense between pre new CBA and post new CBA AAV terms it's not that hard really. This stupid line of thinking that nobody deserves maximum is just false, Toews is a top 3 ! player worldwide so he would for sure have gotten it from Winnipeg or someone else with enough cap-space. Can't wait till Stamkos signs his 12,5 AAV or whatever extension and people crying about him not being worth it...
