Well when the team is playing against the top teams that's a reasonable expectation. Just look at Edmonton I've expected a win against them. But Pittsburg isn't Edmonton

I think they NHLPA would have something to say about that even if not it would be a nightmare, no UFA in his right mind would be willing to sign there and as they are entering their retool/build years that would be devasting to their franchise. It's simple: Plattner has to open his deep pockets (the guy owns that german SAP company) and care more about that franchise. but hey if they want to get rid off players, I'd gladly take Vlasic of their hands.

Well the Pens are one of the better teams so I don't expect much, just an honest hard effort we'll see if its enough.

As well Nonis if they fire him If I'm Nonis I'd call up Orr, McLaren, Devane and Biggs tell them to do whatever it takes to give the fans some enjoyment for their money and if other teams won't accept the fight start it anyways, there are too many rats running around and fans want entertainment.

Yup that's Rogers in a nutshell, their first priority isn't to ice/produce a great team or product it's only making their shareholders happy. Illitch on the other hand is also a fan and will do everything to ice a winner. I'm willing to bet our payroll would still be higher than the Leafs one in a noncap-world. The dropoff after Kronwall (who by his standards doesn't have that good of a season) and DannyD is huge. I don't know what is wrong with Big E but maybe making him a healthy scratch and giving him some time off might help him. This team needs someone who can create energy if things aren't going their way, be it with a fight, a huge hit or just something to get them going to turn the momentum around.

I know everyone hates the schedule but for me it's almost perfect (8 pm start...) so I can watch the game and then go out partying, perfect. On a more serious note Wings always suck in those early games so I'm not expecting much, a point would be nice.

Boychuck made the big show at 26 so he's hardly the usual 31 old with a lot of miles on his body, guy has at least 4 good years left in him. Franson isn't at the same level but I'm sure someone will offer him 6 x 6 (which he obviously isn't worth) but the guy is the best available defenseman come July 1 which is saying tons about UFAs this season..

All I need to do is looking at Boston's defense without Johnny B. Sure some statsheet > all watchers will believe he is overpaid but the guy is the complete package: reliable in his own end (doesn't play like a forward), hits like a truck, will drop the gloves and has a laser from the blue line. Absolutely sucks for them, hopefully they all come back healthy in time for the playoffs and set the world on fire. I really love the way this team is built right mixture of size and skill the only thing they lack is toughness but other than that great job Stevie.

Laviolette has a short shelf life so maybe the honey moon phase is over? But I still think the Predators are having a ton of potential with that defense and Rinne.

God forget the salary yeah Leafs would have to retain some.people have to keep in mind that wings won't get Phaneuf without giving back something substantial if they don't retain salary a cap dumb has to be part of the deal.. The Myers trade isn't a good comparison because it's extremely lopsided Cheveldayoff robbed Murray here. Giving up a guy with more attitude problems than goals, a good upcoming defender in Bogosian for Myers and a first is a steal.
