    TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

That's why I've mentioned at least the third round would have been nice while Godström was still playing. Like I've admitted many times the youth movement is nice and I like watching them. We differ when it comes to 2014 yeah making the playoffs was an unbelievable coaching job and smart decision to sign the hometown boy DeKeyser even if it didn't work out I would have had no problem with missing the playoffs and standing pat. Standings are nice and all but it will amuses me when people are talking about the playoffs before a team has made them (that goes for all fanbases not just us), as far as I know ~ 96 points are needed and the best teams haven't even clinched 70 points yet so why not wait till it's mathematically impossible to miss them and then talk about improvement ? I mean sure it's possible to use other base years let's say last year and this year ...if they make the playoffs and take whatever team Wings are going to face to 6 games that would be an improvement - although marginal - but still. But a lot can happen in the remaining games I'm not going to mention it because karma but right now no team should feel save. Look at the Predators they've been really dominant and 1 injury to the best goalie in the league and they are struggling.

Buffalo Sabres could go for the record

Buffalo is not mismanaged far from it. Murray doesn't have an easy job he has to clear all the mistakes from Regier. Sure Regier didn't have a lot to work with because their former owner has been a penny pincher who couldn't care less about the team. Burke once said about Regier that they spoke a different language in terms of judging talent in trades and that the guy was just too reluctant to give up anything worthwhile in a trade. After Pegula bought the team he saw first hand that Ruff, Regier and their current core (Vanek, Pomminville, Miller and Roy) aren't bringing them up the cup so they blew it up. That's not mismanaged that's looking forward. McEichel will be the biggest piece of their puzzle but they already have some other young and coming guys on the team/minors and Buffalo isn't going to make the same mistake as Edmonton (a.) drafting offense after offense and b.) rushing them to the NHL when they aren't ready. What other options does Buffalo have ? Other than teams like the Leafs they for sure weren't going to keep around a core that just couldn't get the job done so that means rebuild from top to bottom at that phase people can't expect UFAs willing to sign there. So the only logical step is to draft as good as possible and make no mistake Buffalo isn't the only team gearing up for one of the two phenoms and guess what their fans deserve it. I just have a bit of a soft spot for them because their story reminds so much of the Wings pre Yzerman and pre Ilitch.

    TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

Well I don't think expecting the team to become better each year is being a spoiled Wings fan aren't all fans wanting their teams to get better each and every year ? I mean, even in a rebuild-retool phase some progress needs to be shown right ? 2 years ago Babcock himself said it, that losing in the 2,2 and 1 first round is not painting in the right direction. Also don't confuse not being happy or not liking the playstyle of a team with stopping to be a fan. I don't think it's cup or bust but at least a third round would nice once in a while and that's for sure not waiting 5+ years for that.

    TANK IT! 2014-2015 Season

There is also some sort of middle ground but some of the mega "Holland is god believers" don't understand that. Personally I've had absolutely no expectations going into this season and still don't but when it comes to the last five years this team simple hasn't been good enough: 2,2,1,2,1 (almost swept) round exits are not Red Wings style. Is it realistic to expect the cup every year? No but at least getting better every year should be an accomplish able thing. And like I've mentioned I believe it when I see it same goes for trades. Some will for sure mention but the standings oh the standings Wings where in a similar situation last year and then had injuries and worse second half of the season.. Wings had a great home record 3 years ago and then absolutely got crushed by the Predators...so the standings are what they are.. Same goes for talking about the playoffs before making them so it's too soon talking about that. But the defense will have to improve which for sure is going to cost a bit because Myers, Yandle will gather interest from a lot of teams. Green would be another soft player on an already soft team and according to caps fans is risky in his own end, there is not one gm in this league who would take him over Yandle, Myers probably not even Franson

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Not even Godström would like that great on that roster, that's how bad they are and we all know why. The point is Buffalo doesn't have to trade Myers - even if he isn't as good as advertised - they aren't even close to the cap and won't be for a few more years and they know that other teams are desperate for defensive help that drives the price up. I mean if it's Pulkinnen, Jurco and and a pick I'd pull the trigger but not if i t includes one of Larkin, Mantha (one of them should only be on the table if we are talking about OEL). I'm also wondering why are people so high on Green ? The guy is not a great defender, sadly injury prone and around 30 by the time this team could content again he will be way past his prime. Green will command a big payday and for what he brings I'd rather go after other defenders (including Franson). I haven't watched a lot of Leafs games this season because they are incredible boring to watch with their stupid new philosophy but I think Franson could be a solid signing come July 1 although I'd prefer some bigger name like Boychuck - Isles won't have the money to re-sign him as long as Wang is still at the helm -. As much as the media is hyping up this trade deadline I think it will be a very boring one with only minor movements...the top teams are close to the cap and the bottom teams will for sure not t rade their first round pick in such a deep draft so all the ingredients for the most boring trade dead line since years are there.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Yandle would be nice for sure guy would greatly improve the defense. But if people and Holland believe he would come cheap they are wrong. Obviously Mantha and Larkin (don't trade Michigan boys) shouldn't be on the table for him but other than that let Maloney choose a prospect the difficulty is, Yotes are having so many needs right now. I believe in a big trade deadline day when I see it not getting my hopes again

LA puts Mike Richards on waivers

Reminds me of the crap the Boston media wrote about Seguin after they've traded him. He wouldn't be where he is now if he wasn't dedicated to fitness and work outs. If Richards likes to party so what every one needs a break here and there. If the guy gets his game back Kings will call him up as an option for the playoffs.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

There are just a few people over rating the prospects. I think most people understand that it will take a great offer to get a top 2 pairing guy. As mentioned in the other thread OEL would cost a lot because he brings a lot to to team. A top paring of Dekeyser and OEL? Sign me up for that. I mean regardless of what people are thinking about the cost of acquiring Myers GM know that the wings are in dire need of defensive help so Holland has to pay to get it it's just simple business. Do I think Holland would pull something like this off? Back when he had fire and drive for sure...the current Holland would hardly do it. I mean other than Mantha, Larkin and obviously McKee I'm sure other teams do have their own Pulkinnen, Athanasius, Ouellette... So none of them alone will return much

Buffalo Sabres could go for the record

I think they can't fall out of the top 3 will look that up

Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down

Can't believe that trading for OEL would be seen as a bad move, Tatar and Nyquist are doing well but oel has stud potential and wingers are easier to find then bona-fide number 1 defenseman That being said it would take some serious overpayment to get this guy.

    1/31 GDT : Islanders 1 vs. Red Wings 4

Well okposo is out so that should make their top line a little less dangerous for us. But given the track record against the isles I don't expect much. Hopefully McCollum gets the start

Buffalo Sabres could go for the record

Then they would have to investigate other teams too and go back to 2006.. The chances of them dropping out of the top picks are low but not yeah it's possible. And they also have two more picks after that

Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down

If OEL would be available - which Maloney has stated he is not - save for DeKeyser I would tell Maloney pick your prospect of choice or one of Tatar/Nyquist, we give you a first rounder, 2nd and a B level prospect. OEL will be the next stud soon let him bulk up and that guy will dominate one day. Contenders are built from the net out and the Wings have nobody even close to the potential of OEL (sky is the limit for this kid).

    1/29 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Lightning 5

Well who thought that?people who are only looking at the standings I've always thought they are a behind the pack team and if they make the playoffs a first round exit if the defense doesn't improve. Which is still not bad but by Redwings standards disappointing given that this team hasn't seen the third round since 2009

    1/29 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Lightning 5

At least he tries it's not his fault that this team is full of sissies and even if they win some boring to watch

Defense isn't good enough simple as that. Abby is turning into the player with the most heart in this team.

Will never be as funny as all the people who thought Howard nor Monster wouldn't be needed if this team makes the playoffs. 3 softies

    1/29 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Lightning 5

Man Hedman is great that guy is going to be a stud soon. Two softies in a row...

    1/29 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Lightning 5

Oh ok Howard should be ready soon after too. Goaltending is actually one of the stronger points with both of them healthy.

    1/29 GDT - Red Wings 1 at Lightning 5

Hopefully monster or Howard are back soon just turned the game on and saw that softie
  22. frankgrimes

    Larkin or Mantha?

Great player but wouldn't help much. Wings need a bona-fide number one defender or at least a top 2 pairing guy. Not another soft player RoR will easily command 7 plus

Best team in the east will be a tough test would be happy with one point

LA puts Mike Richards on waivers

I don't think it's a working out issue Otherwise Lombardi would have paid him out in the summer. Something really seems of here that decline was way too fast Almost reminds me on Morrow who's decline started at 28 and he never got his game back. Only difference Richards didn't seem to be injury prone. At this rate he will have trouble getting another contact
  25. frankgrimes

    Sindey Crosby ... haha

I think it was very funny but sadly a bit played out.
