I love watching that rivalry that's hockey should be: pure hatred, fights, bone crushing hits, crowd going wild and coaches getting fired up. Farnham landed a serious right on that guy. But man Rinaldos hit was dirty That being said I think other rivalries sadly have died down a lot obviously Detroit - Chicago used to be good but it lacks that level of animosity even Bruins - Habs aren't close. So by today standards I think its fair to assume that this is the best rivalry in the game and I would love seeing both meeting in the playoffs but man Flyers need to get on a serious streak if they want to make it.

I feel bad for everyone who joins that joke of an "All Europe" team. I'm sure the players will play hard for that fake team. International tournaments are about country versus country not continent versus continent. It's beyond stupid to not include Switzerland their league is top 3 in europe. Also just to point out how crazy that young guns team is: McDavid and Eichel could probably play against their own country because they aren't allowed to play in the "big" team ? I really thought the World Cup would be a bad idea but hardly did I imagine the NHL would screw it up that badly. I guess Battman, Fosel, Daily and the IIHF would sell their first born if they could make a dime out of it. Can't believe the NHLPA agreed to that crap have fun when more and more players are saying thanks but no thank you.

I don't like the over representation of the Wings either. Especially since "we"'ve had the greatest WC of all time in my mind I mean you can't beat two original 6 franchises going at it on a beautiful snowy day infront of a 105.000 record setting crowd. To me they are milking this till it's done and then the NHL is going to complain that the WC doesn't provide enough revenue anymore...no wonder who wants to see the same teams every year ? I'm not a huge fan of other teams but personally I'd like to see the Stars, Wild, Lightning or Blues getting a shot at this.

Kliq some good points for sure man in retrospective I can't believe how weak that UFA class Iginla is by far the best of that list. The thing with Shattenkirk is that the blues have re- sign Tarasenko and Schwarz and are tied to the cap so that might be a nice opportunity. Anyway I think Pulkinen could be a nice piece to sweeten some deals.

Good god christ...top UFAs in their ******* prime better ? The last big piece has been Marian Hossa because he was willing to make it work since then if your standard are Alfredsson (way past his prime) and Weiss good for you..I thought Wings standards are/were higher. It's nothing against either one of them but compared to Marian Hossa they are a downgrade. Loading up on prospects is nice and all but same must be used as assets given how bad the UFA market has become

That's what most people would have assumed, boohoo the streak would have maybe ended but Jarnkrok had a nice value back then and maybe he could have been packaged with other prospects to land someone like Boychuck. I mean how can you not beat the offer of 2 nd rounders Hollands job is to defend the trade as much as possible so I'm not blaming him for doing so but I blame him (rightfully) for making the trade and getting robbed by Poile.

I still would for the right offer nothing against Tatar, love his game but: the job of a GM is to make a team better in the long run that's why most GMs are taking care of their players but are never too attached to them, cause they might have to trade them the next day. Pulkinnen has a great shot yes. The problem is the guy is small and weak - obviously he will bulk up - but on a team that already is lacking heavily in size and grit he will get pushed around too easily making it difficult to unload his shot at the right time. Obviously the guy has potential but people have to understand one simple thing: other GMs aren't going to offer a top 4 defender for so- so prospects or bad contracts. I've mentioned it before this team has trouble getting top UFAs to sign here and aren't bad enough to get top 5 picks so how do you add another top 4 defender? Hoping to get such a steal as Dekeyser again ? Might work might not at some point a major trade has to happen. And if other GMs are asking for Pulkinnen (he doesn't have that much value around the league mind you), Jurco, Marchenko in exchange for a top 4 guy or a big bodied gritty winger you have to jump at th at opportunity if you are Ken Holland. That doesn't mean I'd be dying to trade Pulkinnen but of the available guys - given that Mantha is almost off limits safe for overpayment - I would do it. The Wings aren't in a position to dictate how the trade goes anymore other GMs know this team is desperate to add another defender so the price only goes up that's the nature of the beast.

Some people are just over hyping the wings prospects it happens with every fanbase so nothing special but the fact is: If Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar and Dekeyser are off limits the next on line have to be in play for a top 4 defender simple as that. And given the fact that UFAs don't want to come here anymore the option to add a top 4 defender comes down to trading and guys like Kindle, Athansu, Sproul, Marchenko won't land one that's for sure.

When was the last time Wings have made a trade deadline highlight ? If they make a trade it will be for another quick fix that doesn't help long term.

The sad thing is the guy could have been such a dominate force on the ice, huge body frame and blessed with great hands thought he could become a Bertuzzi light but sadly he never turned into such a physical player I like him a s a person comes of very humble and intelligent but not buying him out will hurt this team in the long run. He would be a nice addition to a team that already has grit and size and is just looking for a cheap complementary piece.

Holland had the chance to buy him out didn't.... So Wings will have to live with that mistake

Yup it's that stupid stadium series killed the flair of the winter classic but this league never learns. I mean, there is a winter classic and a heritage classic more than enough.
