Did no one else watch the game last night?
Redwngfan2002 replied to derrekchilson's topic in General
I was at the game last night, and the fans were great to us. I just see the chants as fun jabbing. Sorta like your momma jokes between friends. At the end of the game, all the Pred fans around me shook my hand and said "At least you guys will be in the playoff's" Classy group. They had a great lead-up to the game on the Jumbo-tron showing both teams goals and hits and was very un-biased. Got the crowd pumped up. I would love to find a copy of that. Oh, and give up the Redneck thing. Many, of your fellow Red-wing fans live in Tennessee. -
6 Canadian teams account for 31% of league revenue
Redwngfan2002 replied to TheWestWing's topic in General
Sure - but the Coyotes arena only has 80% of the capacity of Montreal, and tickets are 56% cheaper. Maybe stats like that also have something to do with it. Total revenue is not the only part of the picture. If the Coyotes sold every seat at the average price of 06' they would make a max of $452,272.59 / per game. If the Canadians sold every seat at the average price of 06' they would make a max of $1,208,731.86 / per game! Thats a 37% difference already if they Coyotes did sell out every possible seat. -

That is the first thing I thought when I saw that. If every team in the league sold out at 06' ticket prices - The 6 Canadian teams would naturally have 25% of the revenue due to capacity and ticket prices. The NHL 06' Ticket Average = $43.13 The 6 Canadian teams 06' price averaged = $47.11 Doesnt seem like that big of a difference - but if you upped all US teams to the $47.11 average - they would gain 10% of the revenue. Lowest = Coyotes @ $25.41 Highest = Canucks @ $58.96 NHL Capacity = 551,906 6 Canadian = 113,968 (20.6% of League) -
When Pitts scored the first goal, I swear I heard the announcer (Do not remember who) say ..... How will Detroit respond now that WE have the lead. Was I just hearing things?

to the right of the article.... Rule 69: Interference on a Goalkeeper This rule is based on the premise that an attacking player's position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed. In other words, goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

For the people that cannot see the dent But I think its great. It gives it character, and is part of what makes it better than all other sports trophy's that sit untouched. The stories, dents, scratches. spelling errors, all give it what it is. Every dent / scratch is another great story in its history.

Knoxville Tennessee - Fox Sports (FSN) covers all of the Pred games, but I really do not ever hear anything mentioned about them on the news. The local team (Knoxville Ice Bears) gets some coverage daily with score updates. It really takes a larger bar with multiple TV's to see hockey without bugging the owner to put the game on.

speaking of ad's - The -VS.- comercial talking about 8th seed Oilers beating 1st seed Wings bothers me more than it probably should. Why play that one so many times during a Wings game?

Non-Michigan fans: How did you become a Wings fan?
Redwngfan2002 replied to Chaldean's topic in General
Lived in Michigan for 26 years. Moved to Tennessee, and was amazed at how many fellow Wings fans are around. I played inline hockey in Knoxville for a few years, and 50% of my team was from Michigan.
