I don't think the Wings should be trading anyone right now. The prospect pool is stocked and those that have been called up to play for the Wings have exceeded expectations. The only way we're going to land a top pairing defenceman or top line forward is by overpaying and giving awa a couple of those prospects and picks, and I'd rather wait and see what we have. You're more likely to develop your own top talent than you are trading for it. We have a bunch of forwards who have plenty of potential to become top 6 guys, and a fantastic group of defensive prospects that are only a couple years away from being NHL regulars. I think last year, this year and possibly next year are the low points of our re-tooling and we'll be back to being a legit cup contender soon enough.

Not just Wings players aren't being claimed...nobody is being claimed off waivers this year. In fact if your players are getting claimed off of waivers you probably made a mistake waiving them in the first place. Fans are notoriously innaccurate when it comes to trade predictions, if the Wings are going to bring someone good (#1 Defenceman, or top 6 forward) into the fold its going to cost some young pieces that we as fans don't want to lose. (Mantha, Mrazek, Sproul, Nyquist, Jurco or Tatar etc.)

I doubt we'd be much different. Flip didn't work in Babcock's system and didn't like playing for him. Holland wanted to keep him and offered him a 7 year deal but Flip wanted to play somewhere else. Even if he stayed I wouldn't expect him to be producing the kind of numbers he's putting up in the much more relaxed atmosphere of Tampa.

Gus isn't lumped in with the anchors...he's the talented one the anchors are holding back! I wasn't sure how people would react to the credits but I haven't received any complaints.

Jurco was sent back to Grand Rapids for Luke Glendening. They wanted another center so Datsyuk and Zetterberg could play together. -
I'd like to do ones for Jan. 4th vs Dallas March 18th vs Toronto I'll also take one in February but I'm not sure which game yet.

CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.

Maybe they will maybe they wont. The point is they can do whatever they want with HNIC, and CBC has no say whatsoever. -

That's the thing...CBC will make nothing off of Hockey any more. 100% of all the Ad revenue generated goes to Rogers. CBC is actually paying more than they are now just to be able to air games, and that's only for 4 years of the 12 year deal. The only positive for them is that it keeps people tuning into the network so they can promote shows that they do own. Rogers also has complete creative control over CBC's HNIC broacasts. They could fire Ron Maclean and Don Cherry tomorrow and replace them with Joe Bowen and Nick Kypreos if they wanted. -

Yes and No. HNIC will still be on CBC but they no longer get any of the revenue from ad sales during the broadcast. The only positive for them is that they can promote their other shows during the broadcasts in the hopes of improving their ratings on non-hockey broadcasts. This really isn't a good deal for CBC. -

I prefer TSN as well but this isn't really anything new. TSN lost the rights to broadcast hockey as recently as 1998 to 2002 and during that period they still covered the game extensively. They just won't have the games themselves, they'll still lead off every Sportscenter with Hockey, they'll still cover the Draft, trade deadline, and Free Agent Frenzy, and they'll still have their hockey programs like Hockey Central. As hockey fans we should be happy, the game is going from a network that aired it on only 2 channels to a network that is going to air it on 5 or 6, they are also getting rid of local blackouts so while we may not be getting the games covered by the analysts and play by play men we want, we're still getting more games, and the revenue for the league is going through the roof because of this deal. Looks like the HNIC theme song has been played for the last time for a while though, unless TSN sells its rights to Rogers. -
Slightly early, but I won't be on at midnight, Hopefully 11pm is ok.

I forgot to add the scratches...he's added to the OP along with Dekeyscock, and Weiscock.

If they're hesitant we'll sweeten the pot with the incomparable Daniel Cleary.

Not getting an NHL contract and being just a Griffin seems to have lit a fire under him. Good to see. I hope he continues to play that well and prove myself and others wrong for calling him a bust

The other day on Sportsnet Franzen's injury was listed as day to day (Lower Body Injury). Seems odd that they'd have more insight than any of the Wings beat writers, so take it with a grain of salt.

If I knew there wouldn't be GDT graphics for tonights game I would have done one. Hockeytown normally gives me a headsup when he's not going to get one done.
-
With Tootoo being waived we're one step closer but they'll need another long term injury or another move before they can call him up. We're still at 23 players on the roster without him
-
Dumb move, but it didn't look like he was actually trying to hurt the mascot. It almost seemed staged until they kicked the fan out.
-
I can't remember if it was his shoulder or neck, but either way its not serious and he'll be back as the back-up pretty soon.
-
That's what happens when you're the coach and GM's boy.

Had to put this one together last minute so I wasn't able to do images for rosters.

I thought Sammy actually had a pretty good game tonight. I'd like him off the point on the PP and I wouldn't shed any tears if we got him to waive his no trade clause but I'd much rather cut Cleary loose than Sammy. This image was supposed to go with the GDT but I forgot to add it to the bottom

It looked bad, but the refs arm was already in the air for the hook and I don't think he was diving to draw a penalty but to knock the puck out of the zone to relieve the pressure. It depends on your region. I have Bell Expressvu and its on all the western CBC stations but not the eastern ones. If you need a stream send me a PM and I can hook you up with the game (and all the rest of the games in the league in HD)
