Torts should go to CBC and phase himself into the new Don Cherry. Incredibly opinionated, abrasive, former coach and doesn't care one little bit what anyone thinks of him. All he needs to do is develop a distaste for all things European and he'd basically be a younger Cherry already.

Abby is more valuable to the team than his point totals indicate, but he's better suited as a 3rd or 4th liner, who can fill in on the top lines when someone goes down than he is a regular top 6 guy. Datsyuk defintely needs someone like him on his line, who isn't afraid to bang in the corners fighting for pucks, or who will go to the front of the net to screen a goalie and occasionally tip pucks. I just think we should be able to find someone who can do those things while still chipping in a bit more offensively.

The longest Franzen went without a point this year was 6 games, and that was when he was playing hurt due to our rash of injuries early in the season. He's led the team in goals for the past 2 seasons and was 2nd this year only because he played fewer games than Datsyuk. Its true that he often floats out there, and that he was terrible in last nights game but even with all his obvious faults he's still one of the best players on this team. If there was a trade out there bringing us back a top pairing defenceman, or a better top 6 forward than Johan I'd be all for dealing him but he's too valuable to the team to be let go without replacing him and there isn't anyone available that are likely to produce anywhere near what he does without costing significantly more.

Why would he retire? he can just go on LTIR get his full salary for a year or 2 and help the team by not having his cap hit count against their payroll. its what Philly is doing with Pronger.

He played one game as an injury call-up and played less than 7 minutes. There is a chance Nyquist or Tatar might be back in Grand Rapids as well depending on whether anyone is bought out and who is brought back. Sheahan isn't even in the picture as far as getting a regular NHL spot. He should get one after next season though when his entry level deal is done.

There is no chance Sheahan is playing in the NHL next year unless in the case of an injury call up

He's most likely going to be the started for Team Canada at the next World Junior, and that will give us a little more to compare him and Mrazek, I think the 2 are a lot closer in talent level than many here seem to think. I'm not quite aboard the Mrazek hype train yet, I think he might become a very good NHL goalie at some point but goalies are the hardest position to project and while his highs are very high, he's still inconsistent and his lows are also very low.

Colorado wouldn't even talk about a trade with the Wings when we were offering a 1st for Quincey, we had to use Yzerman and the Lightning as an end around. Nobody in the top 3 is going to trade their pick at all unless its between eachother to get the player they want most, the idea of trading one of those potential franchise players to a hated rival or a new division rival is even more ridiculous.

As much as I hate to say it, there is still a chance that one or more of Tatar, Andersson or Nyquist are not NHL regular's next year. You have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Samuelsson, Helm, Bertuzzi, Tootoo, Abdelkader, Eaves, Emmerton all under contract at forward with Flip, Miller, Cleary and Brunner still left as Free Agents. On defence we have Kronwall, Ericsson, Quincey, Colaiacovo, Dekeyser and Lashoff signed for next year with White, Kindl and Smith to re-sign. In net Howard and Gustavsson will be back. So we have 18 players signed with NHL rosters spots already and 5 spots to fill between Flip, Miller, Brunner, Cleary, Nyquist, Tatar, Andersson, White, Kindl, and Smith, and any Free Agents we happen to pick up.

Considering that the top 3 teams in the draft are all teams that wont trade with Detroit now, there is no way they could get even one of those players.

It's hard to recognize Toews because he's in profile view but I hope this works.

He called out Babcock publicly when he was made a healthy scratch, he's rumored to be a bad teammate and he hasn't played a game in a long time now. White is gone this off-season.

Datsyuk has also played more that twice as many playoff games. If Toews continues to play more like this playoffs rather than how he did during their cup run he'll fall back well below Datsyuks PPG.
