Technically you're correct we could potentially pick as high as 16th if both the Islanders and Senators made it to the conference finals, or 17 if either one of them makes it there. These are all of our potential positions in the draft. 30th (Stanley Cup Win) 29th(Stanley Cup Finalist) 28th(Conference Finalist if Ottawa or the Islanders also lose in the ECF), 27th(Conference Finalist), 18th, (If we lose in the 1st or 2nd round and so does Ottawa and the Islanders) 17th (If either the Islanders or the Senators make it to the conference finals) 16th (If both the Sens and Islanders make the conference finals)

Our best position is actually 18. We are ahead of Ottawa because of ROW.

I'll give it a shot when I'm done these GDT's, or i'll attempt to work it into one of them. I've got 2 GDT's to do for game 7
-
I think this is an excellent idea so we don't have multiple people making them for the same game then having them go to waste if you aren't quick enough to post them. I'm doing one for Game 7 right now, which I worked out with Mike.

gdt WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)

That might work for a Game 7 GDT. -
This was another one I started as a potential last game of the season had we missed the playoffs. It was going to be a Last Western Supper theme. That Avengers one would be tough to top, Its hard to come up with themes that have enough characters to do rosters.
-
I did this one earlier this season when Abby and Cleary were on Datsyuks line for an extended period and were not producing at all. And this was the Full Avengers GDT I never got to use.

He's a better winger than a center, and has played the wing almost exclusively this year. He is however one of our better faceoff guys (or was last year) he should be a significant upgrade on Emmerton in that regard. I think it all depends on how banged up cleary is after that hit last game.

I posted this in the prospects forum thread for Sproul, I'm sure more people will read it here though. Its a quote from Hockey Prospects director of scouting and full time scout Mark Edwards. He has managed to make me even more excited about Sproul and his transition into the NHL.

Not from this series but it features our former asst. coach. I saw this Gif by JMcLeaf on hfboards and thought its the best I've seen so far this playoffs.

Plus we would need to either buy someone out or not re-sign Flip to be able to afford even a cheap FA. The Wings cap situation is tighter than it seems.
-
Probably not for a few more years. He'll get the call-up in case of injury but they won't have him sitting on the bench when he can be starting tons of games for what should be a very very good farm club.
-
I don't think we will use both buyouts although it would be nice to use one on a forward and one on a defenceman to free up roster space. Otherwise Nyquist will be back in the AHL next season. I'd probably look to buyout Quincey or Colaiacovo and Samuelsson. That would give us a few million dollars in extra cap space to re-sign Flip or to take on a bigger salary in trade for some of our prospect depth. Realistically though, re-signing Flip, Kindl, Brunner and Tatar will be our offseason moves and we'll go into next year with a nearly identical line-up.

Are you looking for realistic opinions or dream acquisitions?

How many of those guys would have been in the USHL if they could have joined an NCAA team or in some of the older guys on the list cases the NHL a year earlier. I think you'll find the answer is 0. I'm not saying no NHLer's ever played in the USHL, I'm saying that they stopped over there because they needed somewhere to play before joining the NCAA. I can't think of a single player who played a few years in the USHL then jumped straight to the NHL.

Mursak signed the other day with a KHL team so that frees up one spot.

TSN's play of the year showdown is underway, Datsyuk barely moved on to the 2nd round with his 1 on 4 goal vs Nashville and Howard has already been eliminated vs Jake Allen. Today's match-up involves Zetterberg and he's getting beaten pretty badly by former Wing Shawn Matthias. Lets improve the Wings chances by getting at least 2 wings to the next round.

That travel will be disgusting. The distance between his new hockey home and Moscow is the equivalent of travelling across the US almost 3 times.
-
And continued with the Phoenix Coyote Ugly GDT then one vs Chicago

Its a running gag through all my GDT's Justine Abdelkader brings the luck. It started with my Its Always Sunny one.
