Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams
FlashyG replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Babcock in Toronto would be pretty funny. Babs is used to the Detroit media that aren't exactly known for stirring the pot. In Toronto every single decision he makes will be put under the microscope and he'll be badgered about each and every one of them. Not to mention the micro managing he'll have to deal with from Shanahan and the board of directors. -
Well Hutton is currently eating away at the lead. that % is steadily dropping, lead down to 11,000 with 2:30 remaining. Its unlikely he can close the gap but we should probably be prepared to start voting again
-
I don't think there has ever been a time where they weren't ahead of Sproul. Sproul has a ton of potential but has yet to realize most of it. I still have high hopes for him next year but he needs to take a big step forward if he's going to make the jump to the next level.
-
This is a draft where I'd trade down. There are a lot of good players ranked higher than 30th this year and by moving down we can likely get 2 in that group plus recover the 3rd round pick we traded away. I have a feeling some of our prospect depth is going to be depleted this year either by promotion or via trade so we'll need to restock that cupboard sooner rather than later.

All of a sudden there appears to be a huge group voting for Nyquist. That % is steadily climbing faster than it has for either guy all weekend.
-
Its a radio station in Thunder Bay Ontario that is driving the votes for Hutton. They're pushing for votes on the air and through twitter. I just revived my old twitter account to tweet at the Wings, Nyquist, Tatar, Datsyuk, and Ansar Khan hoping to get them to retweet the link.
-
The only person I saw who retweeted anything was Malik.
-
I'm up for it, I'll be voting for the next little while at least and I'm up for any plan you guys come up with. I still think Twitter is the way to go to get votes for him though.
-
Don't bother trying to complain to TSN, last year Blues fans were complaining to anyone who would listen that things were rigged against them and it got them nowhere. All we can do is vote as much as possible and hope we overcome the lead. Someone with Twitter should try and get the Wings Twitter account to tweet out a link to the vote, it doesn't seem like the they have gotten involved this year like they did last year.

If our scripts wont work we'll just have to defeat Hutton the old fashioned way. I've noticed that my phone votes without issue every time but the script doesn't work on it. I have to manually hit the button. I don't notice any difference with multiple tabs/windows on my computer though so I'm just using a single tab on a single window now Lead is up to almost a .1 of a percentage pt, thats about as big as I've seen Nyquist in front yet.
-
Try using new windows instead of new tabs. I seem to recall that making a difference last year. I am using Hola in order to change my location frequently as it seems that after a while votes seem to stop counting. THe counter goes up but when you refresh it drops back substantially
-
These Hutton fans are persistent. The lead is changing hands frequently but with Hutton holding it longer and by more.
-
I think the script stops working after a while. It appears to keep voting and the % changes but when you refresh it changes completely, with Hutton still holding a sizeable lead. I left mine running for a few hours and it had Nyquist ahead with 58 % of the vote, but after refreshing he was behind with only 45%. Someone should post in on the Wings Reddit board. There are probably scripters there who could write a better one than the one I provided.
-
Nyquist is up again, and needs our help as he's currently losing to Hutton. Enter this in your Chrome console to vote for him every 6 seconds. setInterval(function(){$("#page-wrapper > div > div > section.plays > div.match-play.ng-scope.right-play > button").click()},6500)
-
You can also open up multiple tabs to vote more than once every 5 seconds.

It's more of a player safety thing, they don't want people swinging around jagged pieces of metal

His stick wasn't slashed. At least not causing his stick to break. Abby broke it on Allen's pad while trying to get his stick in front of the net to tap the puck in. The goal shouldn't have counted, but it did and it's nice to get a call in our favor after the Glendening goalie interference call in Washington earlier this season. I'm not shedding any tears for the Blues or their fans.
-
It's not the losing streak that's making his decision hard, its the opportunity to yell at College kids that is enticing him to leave NHL coaching.

It doesn't matter how Petr plays or how much he plays down the stretch. When game 1 of the playoffs starts Howard will be in net regardless. Now if Howard drops the ball in the playoffs they might go to Mrazek, but I'd say its more likely that Gustavsson is the back-up by then, and Petr is leading the Griffins to another Calder Cup.
-
He's been an incredibly nice story, but there is absolutely no chance whatsoever he wins the Hart or likely any other hardware. When you combine his first half of the season to his second half Carey Price leads him in every category. Still he's resurrected his career in a contract year, hats off to him for the payday he'll receive. Personally I think he's playing above his head similar to what Craig Anderson did with Ottawa, I have my doubts he'll repeat those numbers again in his career.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

Its possible it expires (I can't check capgeek to check) but Jimmy has a NMC and can't be traded unless he agrees to waive it. He's ours at least for a couple more years regardless of his performance.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you just advocate trading Ouellet, our top defensive prospect for a rental? As for giveaways and takeaways, the fact that Toronto is terrible isn't an argument in Franson's favor it's actually the reason for the misleading stat totals. A team with the puck more often will have decreased takeaway numbers and increased giveaways, it's also not a good sign when a defencemen you're counting on for offence is blocking so many shots. That Franson has so many giveaways on a team that ranks dead last in puck possession is a pretty telling stat. If Franson were a piece that put us over the top for a cup run I'd be all for moving a prospect for him but I don't think we're that close, and I certainly don't think he's that guy. I'd rather go with what we have and sign Petry in the off-season, then see what prospects make a big jump next season. I have a feeling both Ouellet and Marchenko will be ready, with Sproul and Backman getting looks when guys go down.
-
How often do you watch the Leafs? living in Toronto I see them a few times a week and I wouldn't trade Ouellet for 2 months of Franson straight up. His risky passes and tendency to turn pucks over around his own net would have him in Bab's doghouse in short order. He'd be on the 3rd pairing before the playoffs even begin. The Leafs also wont make any deals that might help the Wings as they truly believe that if the Wings fizzle in the playoffs this year, Babcock will be their head coach next year. Helping us make a playoff run would only increase the chances he'd re-sign with the Wings. We don't have a 2nd round pick, we traded it last season in an overpayment for a rental. This would be even worse since we don't really have an aching need for a 2nd pairing defenceman even if he does shoot right. If we're going to get a minute eating top pairing defenceman its going to be one of those prospects you seem to eager to trade. They are not often available via free agency, and when they are they cost a fortune. The same goes for trying to acquire one via trade, the cost will out weigh the benefit. Honestly right now I'd prefer Quincey to Franson simply because Franson would be gone at the end of the season without question. He wants 6 million plus a season long term, and he just wouldn't get that in Detroit. Franson would be a much better player offensively, and he'd improve the PP, but we're already #1 on the PP, and his offence comes at the expense of defence.
