I'm sure he'll sell it back to him.

2/28 GDT : Red Wings 2 at San Jose Sharks 1 (SO)
FlashyG replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This one is a huge game, don't like our chances considering its the 2nd of a back to back with our back-up goalie in net. Can't afford to give away any more pts though especially not to San Jose and LA who were are currently jockeying with for the last playoff spots. -
Let Ian White tell you himself.
-
Sproul is playing center tonight due to a suspension to one of the Greyhounds forwards. I've very interested to see how this goes.
-
It would be nice to come out of this road trip with at least 2 or 3 pts. The 2nd of the back to back in San Jose with Gustavsson in net will probably be an even tougher 2 pts, so hopefully they get something out of tonights game. Getting Franzen back should help.
-
We have a tough 3 games, then we get another bunch of games we should win. After Chicago we face Colorado and Edmonton at home, followed by a road game at Columbus, then the first 2 of the western road trip against Calgary and Edmonton. After that the schedule gets much tougher and most of it is on the road. I expect the difficulty to ramp up right after the Edmonton game when we play Vancouver on our 3rd game in 4 nights. That one could be payback for the 8-3 drubbing we gave them the other night.

Your link covers only the last game of last season, Not the entire year, Nyquist's most common linemates for the season were Bertuzzi and Datsyuk. Link Even this season Nyquist's most common line-mates have been Flip and Abdelkader or Flip and Franzen. He may not get much ice-time but he's had more support with him than Tatar.

Crosby's Oceanic had 2 NHL regulars on the team, himself and Marc Antoine Pouliot, of the rest of the team only 7 even made it as far as the AHL with the majority finishing their hockey careers playing either Canadian University hockey or a local semi-pro league in Quebec. A Couple went back to Europe without making a dent in North American Pro Hockey. The 2005/2006 University of North Dakota had NHLer's Matt Smaby, Taylor Chorney, Brian Lee, Travis Zajac, Drew Stafford, TJ Oshie and Jonathan Toews. There were also a couple of guys who made it to the NHL for at least a few games including a 6'7, 233lb Joe Finley, Chris Porter, and Matt Watkins. The majority of the rest of the team finished their careers or are still playing in the ECHL, with a few excelling in Europe. That line-up would absolutely destroy Rimouski, especially so considering they were all a couple years older than the majority of Rimouski's line-up. For every year you play at least 1 game in the CHL you are given a credit to use for a year of Post Secondary Education, including tuition, books, and all student fees. You may not get that education until your career is over, but the CHL has a very good education program that hardly anyone knows about.

Turns out you are probably right, odd that he isn't verified though, I guess so he can say whatever he wants and then deny it was ever him if trouble arises.
-
Even if we got those 2 they wouldn't be in our line-up for at least a year more likely 2 or 3 years down the road. If the season were to end today we'd be picking 20th (barring a playoff run) Once the team gets healthy I expect them to move up a couple spots, and I think some of the teams ahead of us are playing above their heads as well. 15th would mean being the worst team of all the playoff teams in the league, and that seems unlikely to me.
-
You know that's not really Luongo right? I would assume Luongo would be verified. Still funny though, reminds me of @notpaveldatsyuk

Last nights whining from Canucks fans has inspired a new GDT for me. Hockeytown0001 already does a fantastic job with them here so mine won't be necessary, but here is the header, which I'll add the rosters/stats and standings to.

Thats true, a lot of teams are hesitant to pick russian's because of the KHL but Nichushkin is a pretty special talent and I'd be surprised if he fell to 18-25 range where I expect the Wings to be picking. It would be awesome if he did though. I also agree that we won't know until a couple years after the draft, maybe even 5, but I don't think we need to stockpile picks, our 7 should be enough.
-
You seem to be missing my point entirely, I already conceded that the best elite talent would come from the CHL. What I'm saying is that the top NCAA teams like the 2005/2006 University of North Dakota would mop the floor with Sidney Crosby's Rimouski Oceanic, despite the fact that the best player on either team would be playing for Rimouski. The talent in the CHL gets spread out by the draft process, and even the best teams are lucky to have a couple elite talents with the rest of the team made up with 16-19 year old kids. With the recruiting process in NCAA sports the best programs almost always get the best talent available and the remainder of their teams are normally fully grown men in their mid 20's.
-
This draft has a very strong top 4 or 5 picks, but the talent drops off pretty quickly and isn't as deep as it was expected to be. link Nichushkin would be great but in reality the Wings will not be picking at #13 and its highly unlikely he's around at that pick anyways.

The US under 18 team has a losing record vs the NCAA, and the wins they do have are mostly against division III schools. They did have a big win against Michigan, but these are also exhibition games which are unlikely to produce a full effort from the NCAA squads. I also think the US under 18 team could probably beat the London Knights, just like I think the Gophers would beat them as well. If you were to make a CHL all-star team however, I think you'd tip the scales in the CHL's favor vs both teams. Correct, I meant they would essentially be men facing boys...In many cases more talented and physically gifted boys, but boys all the same.
