Unlike the NBA, where a handful of teams are starting to dominate the FA market for numerous reasons, I don't think the Wings organization is slipping. Bottom line is money talks. Other's are spending it this off season and the Wings aren't. I have a fondness for ole Sergei. He was an exciting player who had some serious wheels. The buzz before he actually laced them up was something else and I loaded up on his Upper Deck hockey card. I thought he had a good career, not great but a good one. I always thought he would end up being the next Gretzky or Lemieux. Obviously those were unrealistic but again, the buzz at the time was crazy. I'm willing to give Kenny the benefit of the doubt for now. Like others have stated here, we're pretty young and made some "bits & pieces" moves.

I'd like to congratulate the Kings and their fans. I moved to L.A from Detroit in the 90's, lived there for 10 years and went to a few games. There are some die-hard hockey and Kings fans that have been waiting a long time for a Cup, so again, congrats to them! No, I don't think they're a dynasty. They barely made the playoffs but with a hot goalie and solid play, anything is possible, especially in today's game. The parody in the league is more so than anything other sport.

I'd trade Helm, Franzen and Kindi for Suter and Parise.. but not for Laich and Green....it is an interesting prospect though. Man, if we can get Suter and Parise....

Can either replace Valverde? The closing situation in Detroit is dicey at best. Dotel....13 teams or something like that. Jose got lucky as hell last year...this year it's all catching up to him.
