Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

Omg, can you cry some more? If your gonna bring up a press conference, then at least make some effort to know who's actually running the press conference! If you don't wanna take the time to figure it out, then I won't give you the time to you to acknowledge whatever it is you have to say about it. And btw, the billionaire that was at that press conference is the one paying the bills. When you start writing checks, I'll listen.

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

I'm telling you what poile wanted in return. Philly didn't want to give up schenn or seanC. All im saying is that if they really wanted weber, then they had their chance. The preds fanbase would have revolted if they took philly's offer. As for losing the players we did, yes losing suter is tough but we still have weber which is more than anyone else, save boston, can say. And radulov? Really? He played all of 8 regular season games last year. Without him, our PP was number 1 in the league. We had 10 guys with double digit goals before he came. We told him to walk to a reason. Same goes for tootoo. He whined his ass off when he was scratched in the playoffs. Remember? We won in 5 games without him. Don't let the door hit ya...and if I remember right, babcock's comments after the defeat pretty much told the story of how our bottom 6 wore you guys out. The same bottom 6 that are all under contract next year, so please, talk to me some more about our depth problems and I'll keep telling you that you have no idea what your talking about.

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

No way. Not even close to a fair return for weber. The picks aren't lottery type picks and try selling those players to the pred fanbase. Poile wanted schenn and SeanC. If Philly wanted weber that bad, they would have had to come off something. Weber's 2 agents are absolute idiots. Remember, poile had a solid working relationship with weber's previous agent before weber fired him right before negogiations started last summer, leading to the arbitration fiasco. How weber can trust his future and money to these guys is beyond me. I put zero stock in anything that squirts out of the mouths of these two bozo's.

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/on_demand/ This is an interview Brett Wilson, minority preds owner, did today with a Canadian radio station. I think it says a lot about the direction of the predators franchise. Nashville is not a feeder team that can be raided and bullied. His comments about Philadelphia underestimating the depth of the preds pockets, and depth of commitment from the entire preds organization as a whole are interesting. He also said the preds offered 104 million to weber, obviously not as much front loaded. But he does speak about the bonus potentially violating the spirit of the CbA. http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/on_demand/

Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

He did have a choice. He could have not signed the offer sheet. He's never said he wanted out of Nashville. If getting paid 27 million in the next year is getting smashed into the glass, then I'm lining up to get my head smashed also. And be real, you don't love anything about this.

Predators match offer sheet to Shea Weber

No surprise here. Just listened to weber's agent do an interview with a Nashville radio station. Weber has no hard feelings and is happy to be a pred. His agent talked about the expiring CBA and how that influenced him signing the offer sheet. This was a no brainier for nashville. They sent a message to the league that Nashville will not lose players due to money. This move, along with the signing of colin wilson today, puts Nashville over the cap floor. Ownership has said they will be a cap team, so I would imagine they are still looking at other possibilities. The preds have 13 returning forwards, 5 returning d-men, and Rinne in net. The preds finished 5th in the NHL last year so I'm not sure why everyone thinks the preds are gonna be a bad team.
  9. If Nashville matches and weber is a pred, there is no "rebuilding". Suter is a loss for sure but losing him alone doesn't put the team in rebuilding mode. Remember the preds had the number 1 pp in the league, had more guys with double digit plus goals before radulov and AKostytsin joined the team. We told them to walk for good reason. Tootoo was a role player with limited ice time. Outside of suter, boullion may be the biggest loss, but even he was limited throughout the season due to injury. Young Guys like Bourque and Josi showed a great deal of promise and should be even better having a year under their belts. Webers agent tossed the "rebuilding" word out there. If weber is back, then how exactly is this team rebuilding? You still have the top 3 lines in place, weber on the blue line, and rinne in net. A solid mix of veterans and young guys. And just a little background on his agent, the guy is a flake. He posted some of webers stats on his web page last year and it was full of errors, misspellings, etc... It was comical. After his comments last week, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if weber ripped him a new one. Of course, now that weber is gaurenteed that money, his agent knows he is getting his cut so he was free to pop off about whatever he wanted. He should have thought about his comments a little more carefully knowing Nashville can match and weber may end up as a pred long term.
  10. For *ish and giggles, what "proof" would ya like me to provide. Each of the owners bank account records? Tax receipts? Returns? How about secret recordings from the hidden mic's I planted in their offices? I'll get right on that...just for you big guy. Or you can respect my take on the situation. You don't have to believe it, makes no difference to me. But I've been on top of this from the jump, you can read what I posted last week before he signed the offer. I said that , due to the expiring CBA, weber would gaurentee himself a monster payday very soon. And he did. I also said that Philly would be a player in this. And now Im saying that the preds will match and keep him in Nashville. The point of the board is to offer intelligent insight and opinions, which is all I'm doing. I don't need links to back up anything I've said. If you don't agree with my side of this, that's fine, I honestly don't care. But if you feel the need to prove your point with links, thats your prerogative. I just ask you show me something that I, or any other person that follows hockey for that matter, hasnt seen before. Wow me with something.
  11. They respect each other too much to drop the gloves but I'd pay top dollar to see that. Weber would come out on top but Tootoo would make sure he knew he was in a fight. Tootoo will earn his stripes there in Detroit. No question.
  12. Sorry my friend, but none of those links aid in your argument or do anything to counter the points I made. Maybe you can make your point without links? Or maybe you can't... I don't know.
  13. Do you believe everything you read on the Internet? And make yourself clear. You say Nashville doesn't have the cash, then you say it would be foolish to give weber the cash. Which is it? Here, I'll make it easy for you. Nashville does have the cash. And what you perceive to be foolish is just that...your perception. Not matching this offer and letting their franchise player walk is incredibly foolish! His worth to the franchise is more than just money. If he walks, then Nashville has no chance of attracting any top level players. The fanbase would be outraged. And then you can start to use the term "rebuilding". No question it would decimate this franchise. Now ask the question again, would it be more foolish to pay him or let him walk? Im not trying to be a jerk here. I understand what you are trying to say and if this was 2007, then I'd say that you are right in your assumptions. Don't be misguided by what you think the predators franchise can or cannot do based on their past. I do enjoy the back and forth. Like i said before, this is a fun board and I enjoy the discussion.
  14. Of course I heard what his agent said. He just signed an offer sheet with Philly so what did you expect him to say? You seem to disregard his comments later on when he said that Shea would be more than professional in honoring the deal should Nashville match. In the end, I could care less what his agent says, its all posturing. I've yet to hear weber himself say he wants out of Nashville, and i don't expect I ever will. You keep saying Nashville can't match the offer, when you don't know a thing about the ownership group in place. I could care less about what capgeek says. As far as jimmy blackberry goes, he's tried to buy how many teams in the last decade? Not just Nashville. Besides, it's completely irrelevant because It was not the same ownership in place that is there now. And as far as radulov, boullion, Kostytsin, and Tootoo go, the preds elected to let every one of those guys walk. We didn't lose them, we told them to find work elsewhere. Those are facts! As for poile not immediately matching the offer, he is a very diligent man. He is the last person you will ever see make a rash decision. Especially a 110 million dollar decision. Easy for you to say he should have matched it yesterday when it's not your 110 million your spending. Now those are facts
  15. I have no intention of arguing with anyone. I have all the respect in the world for the DRW. There are some great guys that post here and I thoroughly enjoy reading and talking hockey here. I would never rub anything in as far as the playoff win goes. Tons of respect
  16. I'm not being disrespectful whatsoever. In fact I've shown nothing but respect on this board and in every encounter I've had with wings fans my entire life. As for being stuck with a "sulky" defenseman, you'd give your left nut to have him so keep your tears off the board. I know it sucks missing out in him after you had such high hopes.
  17. Nashville lost players in the past due to money and ownership issues. It is a different situation now. Suter chose to leave because he wanted to play with Parise and be closer to home. There's nothing wrong with Nashville. This idea that Nashville is in a rebuilding stage just because suter left is retarded. Radulov wasn't welcome anymore and they chose not to keep A Kostytsin. The team is still very solid, even more so when Poile matches philly's contract for weber. The comments that weber's agent made were his agent's, not weber's. Weber signed it so he could gaurentee himself a monster payday. He would have been an idiot not to. If he wanted out of Nashville like everyone here seems to think, then there is no way he signs that offer. I've known Poile for several years an he is one of the most diligent people you will ever meet, that is why he didn't immediately match the offer. I can't stress this enough, this is not the same ownership group from the past. The offer will be matched and Weber will be a pred.
  18. Save your cap geek garbage for somebody else. Your wrong on every level here. Poile will match and he will be a pred for a very long time. Deal with it
  19. If weber didn't want to be in Nashville, he would have played out this year, became a UFA, and left. You really think he would have signed this if he didn't want to play in Nashville? No chance he makes that kind of gamble knowing the preds have said all along they will match any offer. And what difference does it make if poile matches it today, tomorrow or next Monday? Its real easy for you to say they should hve matched it this morning when its not your 110 million your spending. Listen, the only leverage weber had, being a RFA, was to sign the Philly offer and assure himself of a monster deal before the CBA expires. There is no way poile allows weber to walk for 4 picks that will likely be somewhere in the 20 to 30 range. There is no way he can justify that to his fanbase. Weber is the preds franchise and I repeat, this is a different ownership group that has the money. I will be more than happy to come back and eat crow if in wrong. But you'd be hardpressed to find someone else that follows this team as close as I do. As for Darren D's comments he made earlier today saying weber doesn't want to be in Nashville, those were opinions, nothing else. He can't back those comments up with any facts or quotes. Poile may have been talking about trading weber but he was just doing his diligence to see what weber could possibly bring in. The bottom line is this, the ball is in the preds court and there is no way in hell he doesn't match.
  20. Poile will match this. I said in another thread last week that Weber would ink a long term deal before the CBA expires. The idea that Nashville can't afford to pay its players is ignorant. This is a different ownership group. Poile had equal offers on the table for Suter and Parise. Saying Philly "hamstrung" Nashville with a front loaded deal is ignorant as well. They did Nashville a favor here. Also, the idea that Weber wants out of Nashville is not true. Really think he was gonna gamble 14 yrs of his career if he wanted out? Weber will be happy as hell in Nashville, even more so when that direct deposit hits his bank account every month. And since there isn't a state income tax in Tennessee, that check is gonna look a lot nicer than it would in Philly.
  21. Like I said before, he really cleaned his game up last year and it resulted in a lot more PP's for the preds. Tremendous at drawing penalties

    The Next Move

Esteef poodle doing flips. What joy!
  23. Had pekka been hung out to dry the way Howard was, he would not have looked so good. Having weber/suter in front of him 30 minutes every game makes pekka look very good. Huge preds fan, I love pekka but having watched every game, pekka is just a part of a very good defensive system that just happened to have the best D pair in the league. Plus all the intangibles were there for Nashville in that series, preds were pumped to have the wings coming in at a time when all the momentum favored the preds. It was a buzz saw for Detroit. The intensity with the preds players, coaches, fans was there. Nashville's letdown in round 2 was a mere formality. Saw it coming before round 1 was over. In no way was Howard the reason
