    2012 Lockout Watch

So I'm reading the owners key points in their offer to the players today. I realize starting high is key in negotiating but this is ridiculous! 1-reduce player revenue from 57% to 46% 2-five year contract limits 3-ten years in the NHL before becoming UFA 4-entry level contracts 5 yrs instead of 3 5-no more salary arbitration The owners know this will not fly and they will have to give so I understand starting out high but this is ludicrous

Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

Interesting story from "Broad Street Hockey" posted today. According to a radio reporter in Phoenix, an "east coast" team, likely Philly, has an offer for Doan 4 yr 30 mill. 7.5 mil yearly cap hit!!! Thats crazy!!Somebody is desperate or they really need to hit the cap floor. If this is true, and i have my doubts, forget about him going anywhere else.
  3. Tootoo really cleaned up his game last year. His past hurts him when it comes to getting the benefit of the doubt with the referees. I'm interested to see if that continues now that he's wearing a different sweater. You'd be hard pressed to find another 4th liner in the league that skates as hard and fast. He won't hesitate to put the puck on net. He won't back down to anyone. His attitude and hard skating is infectious. He a total energy guy that will pick his team up when they need a shot of adrenaline. Not to mention he is just a total pain in the ass to play against. Support this guy and he will thrive.

    The Next Move

If weber refuses to sign the long term deal that poile places in front of him, poile will look to deal him to a city that's on weber's list. Poile won't have a problem getting a nice package in return especially since he will be dealing him to a team that weber wants to play for. I still hope I'm wrong and weber stays. Poile and weber are supposed to begin talking next week so it should all play out pretty soon.

Poile won't drag this out with weber. He will put an overwhelming offer in front of him and make him say no, which I believe he will. Unlike the dis functional front office in Columbus , Poile already knows who he wants and what he can get in return for weber. I believe it will happen rather quickly once they place their offer in front of him. Like you, i would put Philly at the top of the list if this is how this plays out.

    The Next Move

I honestly believe Shea weber has played his last game in a preds sweater. Poile will put an offer in front of him that makes suter's contract look like pocket change. Contrary to popular belief, money will not be an issue. Weber can sign it or poile will open up the bidding. There is no way poile goes down this road again. The one thing working in nashvilles favor is the uncertainty in regards to the new CbA. If weber wants one of these ridiculous 13 yr contracts, then he needs to sign one with the preds now because I don't see those type of contracts holding up under a new CbA. As for suter, I wasn't surprised he left but I wish he would have had the balls to be honest with poile from the get go. I don't think suter ever had any intentions on staying and the "family" excuse was a weak way out. Besides all that, suter was skating with one foot out the door every since he made the comments at last years ASG. he was skating away from the play ALOT. He never had his teammates backs. He's not the franchise defenseman a lot of people think he is. Weber, on the other hand, is. I hope I'm wrong and I get to watch him skate out his career in Nashville but I just don't see it. I'll be happy if we can get a team to give us a couple of cups in return for him aka Colorado in the lindros deal when they raked Philly over the coals..i can be optimistic!!

    The Next Move

There are some great members here and I truely enjoy this forum. Sure, there is some garbage, like every other team's boards, but best to just skip over. I have all the respect for the wings organization and I find it hard to believe that holland is sitting back plotting the demise of the DRW. I understand it can be difficult being patient as a fan, especially fans that are as passionate as wings fans.

    The Next Move

Preds fan coming in peace I think Detroit will be just fine. Holland will make the right move when the time is right. No need to spend just to spend or trade just to trade. He did his diligence with suter and Parise, but they made a decision to go elsewhere. A couple of dumb moves right now before a new CbA is announced could severely hinder a franchise moving forward. No need to take such risks when you have a solid team at this moment in time, and yes IMO, the wings are solid
