agree guess with stamkos gone i figured price would be through the roof for alot of these FAs but im on the fence i want to play the kids but i also want them to have a mix of vets however to be handcuffed sucks and we already got contracts that will be Albatross down the line unless they can be moved

yea if anything i figure it would be more in the 6.5 per range but cant see him taking less than 7 if thats the case looking over its not worth it

while i wont argue that most of them would just be bandaids we cant really say that some of the FA wouldnt mesh well with the kids and light it up i dont want to keep the kids down for over the hill vets but you need a mix of both to compete and if you make the playoffs anything can happen having a former cup champion in Staal doesnt hurt and he still might suprise you if he gets a shot with a better team than he was on last year plus okposo can get you some decent goals as well if Staal would take a prove me contract for 1 or 2 years while giving larkin a chance to evolve into the 1C than its a steal i want the kids to get in to the P/O because they need that experince and wasting Larkins youth on missing out for a few years to get a shot at a couple top 5 or top 10 picks might not be worth it in the end its all just how things would go its hockey anything can happen you got to take risks sometimes if the team keeps making 1st round exits its not helping but if they get the right mix of leadership with hot young talent you never know what it might do

for one Illich does not want this team to tank his already got the tigers who have a huge payroll prob missing out on the playoffs again and if he lets the wings go in to full blown tank mode it wont do good for selling seats at the new arena.the true fans will stick by this team no matter what and most of us here our true fans but there will be ppl calling us the dead wings again and i really dont want to live in that era im thankful i was blessed with being born in the early 80s and watching when i was 3 of 4 when things started getting better but after all these years id still like to think we can avoid a full nose dive to the bottom of the standings if we make the right moves and sign short term vets to play with the young talent and try to remove the bad contracts all with still being bound to the playoffs.

i keep wondering if it WASNT babcock that Fa wanted no part of and its us our franchise maybe they see we just have nothing to look forward to anymore and dont like the direction we are going with all are terrible contracts maybe other FA dont like the loyalty to guys who dont deserve it and truly believe this is a sinking ship am i crazy?

totally agree but putting pressure on a kid or a older broken down Z isnt the answer either everybody was stamkos or bust but now no one wants to hear a short term signing of one Staal Neilson or Backes because they dont think they are worth it Staal is older but i dont thin k his THAT bad yet not to give him a prove- to me- contract

agree we CANNOT expect Z or Larkin to carry this team if we can get Staal for a year or two until Larkin is ready to upgrade to the 1st line im ok with it

agree frank if buf goes 12 id want to match for sure i hope to push tor out of contention

but in turn signing mulitple guys who are top 6 but not top line guys will give us another richards player who will be overrated and not used well i cant see Lucic higher than a 2nd or 3rd line winger okposo could ride the 1st but martins a 4th line winger nothing more signing stamkos helps also excel players like tats goose larkin pulks jurco we want our kids used not pushed aside or waived for nothing

agree if we get stamkos and lucic i could see us moving jurco pulks tats or goose + a 1 2 for a top 2 defense

i would hope that stamkos wouldnt just look for the money and realize between us and Buf he would be better fitted here as much as Echel is a big deal there i feel like we are the ones that can say you have 1C open to you and you alone you also have the A and down the line you can wear the C you will be the star and the one everyone goes to to get this team motivated you will have Larkin Z AA Tats Abby Goose Mantha all of which will help you continue to be sucessful not to mention the chance of making the playoffs and making a strong run id still make it intresting though and match the offer just to put the cherry on top
