Fedorov: ‘We had the chance’ to bring Datsyuk to KHL
wingedominance13 replied to Opie's topic in General
More money. The mafia bosses pay über dollars to bring Russian stars home. Kovy will make the 77 mil he was supposed to make over the next 12 years if he plays for the next 6 or 7 years. -

signed Brendan Smith signs 2-year, $2.525m contract with Red Wings
wingedominance13 replied to Matt's topic in General
Great contract. The most underrated part of this contract is that he will still be an RFA when it expires. -
Yes yes and yes. To all three. They all were pivotal to the wings success and dominated their positions.

He is a number a great defenseman. Not elite. There are only 7 or 8 defenseman I would take over kroner.

I thought he was slated for GR. but not a hundred percent sure I will try and find confirmation. Here is the link I found. Per mlive he is gonna play in GR http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2013/05/red_wings_sign_defenseman_nick.html

Except Jensen hurt his shoulder during the fight and wasn't on the ice for day 2
-
Seriously he played like 27 min a night. Double shifted all the time.

So back to the khl?

No way I'd pay any goalie 7 mil a year for 8 years. I never personally would sign a goal longterm period. Rather pay big for a 2 year deal than get locked into a contract. Goalies are so up and down that they hardly ever are worth their big contracts. Can anyone name a goalie that took a big contract and lived up to it??

Never looks bad for the organization when two of the three were wings
-
Tartar and Nyquist on that line would get overpowered. That would be one of the smallest 1st lines in the NHL. Now junco in two years maybe but he has no track record in the NHL. Bert doesn't bruise anymore and Sammy has always been a floater (in the sense he goes to open ice not the corners).

signed Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m
wingedominance13 replied to Matt's topic in General
Holland had mentioned playing Weiss and Alfie together. The quote was something alon the lines of Stephen puts the puck in the net and alfie is a great playmaker who can pass it to him. Something to that effect -
Signed Wings sign forward Luke Glendening to 1-year, 2-way

Love this signing -
Yikes. I don't know if I am excited or upset. A deal with Weiss would almost certainly mean that brunner is gone, since we signed Alfie. But it does make our team better. Z, Pav, Abby Franzen, Weiss, Alfie Nyquist, Helm, Tatar Miller, Andy, Eaves/tootoo/bert Could look alot worse.

signed Wings sign Alfredsson to 1-year, $3.5m deal (+$2m bonuses)

3.5 cap hit, with potential for 2 mil in bonuses. not too shabby. could be better, could be worse -
and he's gone.. lets be honest

Love this signing. He still puts up about 20 goals and its a 1 yr deal. Forces the kids to earn their top six minutes, while not taking away a roster spot for them (only from sammy and bert). Good insurance if brunner walks. Low risk with a potential high reward. Hard to hate this, unless you are just looking to hate on Holland for not breaking the bank of this absurd FA class. Not saying Holland has been perfect (not even close) but he hasn't been brazen and dumb either, just consistent. -
I'm actually kind of excited about this. While he's not in his prime and we could you a bigger threat. A short contract with alfie could allow a nice buffer while the young guns come into their own. We still need one more acquisition though
