Babcock is the best coach in hockey, bar none. In my opinion he found ways to win with a team last year that was our least skilled team since the early 90's. We as wings fans have been spoiled, when over the past 20 years did we have a team with less than four HOF players on it? Name four on this team... Babcock isn't the problem, welcome to the rebuild.

He'll be fine, he is a professional hockey player with a good track record. Should he be lighting it up and playing consistently, yes; is he is a slump, yes; should we bail on his five year contract, no. The only concern for me is his lack of energy right now, the points will come but he needs to get a little hiccup in his step and not glide around the ice. Move his feet more and skate harder to the bench when he changes. But I do think he will eventually come around and when he does it'll be for good.

However, if Weiss can get on a roll here and his line produces regularly over the next couple games it allows babcock to run with these lines when everyone is healthy .... not quite as ugly anymore, actually could be very entertaining to watch. I dont understand why we wouldn't want franzen on this team next year. Is he inconsistent, yes. Can you replace his production with someone who has a cap hit less than he does, NO. Not all players are superstars like Pav and Z where they put up points night in and night out. Franzen is what he is and at the end of the year he scores over 25 goals for a great cap hit. I have zero qualms with playing Franzen on the third line when he slacks, especially with a speedy helm healthy, but buying him out or trading him doesn't make sense when he is a great bang for the buck. This is in no way me saying that this team doesn't need a legit power forward, because they absolutely are lacking one.

Last night was the first time I've ever questioned whether Babcock is the problem. The team needs a jump start I don't think relieving Babcock is the answer, I think the Holland needs to make a move and show that ppl's jobs aren't safe. For instance why not trade Bertuzzi, he's played well this season and his stock won't get any higher than it is right now, or even someone like Miller. Make a move to shake the boys up cuz right now they are stagnant and timid.

Howard is the Michigan weather right now. Not frozen yet, hints of warm weather, but then the cold wind blows and you remember winter is coming. In other words he is currently inconsistent.

I physically cannot handle another OT/SO loss. So if the boys are gonna lose put me out of my misery early please.

Agreed but its more of a 2a 2b situation where whichever line is generating more offense that game gets more ice time. I wanted last year to move fil to the third line center to have a similar situation.

When Alfie and Weiss's groins healthy and the new chemistry of Mule, Helm, Tats I would love these lines Z, Pav, Bert Franzen, Helm, Tatar Sammy/Cleary, Weiss, Alfie Abby, Andy, Miller Not loving the net front on the weiss line(would prefer to have a nyquist, weiss, alfie third line) but could be a potent line.

Had we been in the west and we didn't make this trade and Chicago did I would be upset, but I can clearly understand why detroit didnt get this kind of trade because they are in the same conference. However, what a potential steal by Chicago. This is the kind of trade detroit needs. It won't happen though. Too many players are pending UFA and RFA's on this team IMO that there is no way Kenny would gamble trading away prospects who could (most likely not) be needed to fill out the roster next year. Kenny loves the play it safe; one small step at a time approach and with Bert, Cleary, Sammy, Tatar, Big Rig, Quincey, Alfie, Eaves, Gustavson all either UFA or RFA (i know i'm missing one more) there is no way anything big happens this year because of the potential need to fill those spots if guys don't want to come back or can't come to terms on a deal (which lets be honest won't happen either, welcome back bert and cleary)

I think I'm more upset that Sammy is still in the lineup and Cleary is getting top 6 minutes. Its been a hard week to be a red wings fan can't say that too often.

This is sad. He deserves to play, somewhere in the NHL, the kid is a warrior. Reminds me a young cleary.. you know when he could still skate and contribute.
