I'm gonna miss Bear. (Z's the lion, Cleary was Bear, and Franzen "used" to mule). Absurd contract but no doubt he will bring much needed leadership and stability to the flyers. I still hate the flyers though..

Iron Hook was extremely sound defensively/positionally all four games though. While he didnt contribute a ton offensively, for someone who has played less than 15 games on NA Ice its good to see how sound he is. Mantha and Frk played on his wings and both of them succeeded through the tournament, alot of this was because they didnt have to worry about being caught in the O zone because Iron Hook was covering them. IMO (this is not to say that I'm not ecstatic about Mantha and Frk cuz I think they can be legit scorers one day)

The only problem with this is it makes me think Kenny is going to hold onto emmy a little bit longer.. however for those conspiracy theorists this may be kenny's way to sign Cleary........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................ ........................

So let's be honest... Helm is not going to be ready to start the season now that he pulled his groin. So.. here's my new lines: I really don't like emmerton, I don't think he brings any pluses to this team (no negatives also he's just kinda there) so I will create any situation where he gets bumped off this team instead of eaves or tootoo. So if I were the coach I would try this for a few games Nyquist Z Alfie Franzen Pav Abby Tatar, Weiss, Bert Miller, Andy, Tootoo Eaves/Sammy Kron, Big Rig Kindl, Danny Deke Smith, Quincy Put Helm on LTIR until he is absolutely game ready. Waive Emmerton. And then wait until helm's absolutely ready to solve the one to many forwards problem.

Unless Babs spread out the scoring and they looked like this Franzen, Z, Alfie Nyquist, Dats, Abby Tatar, Weiss, Sammy (or whoever) Miller, Helm, Andy (or whoever) they doesn't look terrible at all as a second option if the matchups aren't working

The only upside to these jerseys is that i actually believe the stars will look good under the bright lights of the rink. I heard a story that they will be semi reflective while they are playing, not like blinding but shiny.

Then I realized I actually really like that third line. 3 balanced scoring lines is something we haven't had in years. Not to mention that the second line just looks fun to watch.

The only thing that bothers me with this deal. And all of the free agent period so far. Is that the lockout was suppose to lower these contracts. When it is still the same as before with owners shelling out cash. I personally prefer over paying players. (Mostly because I hate baseball and think hockey players are better athletes) but if the owners pitched a fit over salaries why do they continue to jump right back to their pre lockout trend

To get Franson it would most likely look like Quincey, a mid level prospect (ferraro, Sheenan), and a mid level pick. They get quincey for a year to mitigate the loss of Franson and then their prospect and pick. But I don't see Detroit ever going through with that because their goal is to get rid of excess forwards which would not be accomplished in that trade.
