ECF : (5) New York Rangers vs. (4) Les Canadiens de Montréal

10 games is mandatory. Can't hit a ref, gotta protect the blind... See what I did there, it's cause refs are blind -
He would redeem himself in Detroit. I'd love to have him

I'm just assuming. Contracts like that are usually pretty set, hockey players don't get raises during their contract so I just assumed coaches don't either

Bettman getting a raise (again) 8 - 8,3 million in 2012 - 2013

Except where he's lost the owners two full seasons of revenue, the simple fact is hockey as a game with social media and everything else would be growing with or without Gary. The teams he has brought in to expand and relocate have for the most part done quite poorly. Just look at the attendance records, 4 of "Gary's teams" are the bottom 4 teams in attendance records this year, and not cause they have a small arena like winnipeg but because they only sell maybe %80 of tickets, and those seats don't even get filled that are bought. 9 out of 11 of the bottom teams in attendance are Gary's teams, the only one of those that sells out all their seats is Winnipeg, and that's cause they have a small arena. In my opinion he has hurt the game more than helped it -

3 lockouts. Negotiating without shutting the league down would be good negotiations, he's too stubborn and knows nothing about hockey -

I'm not so concerned with some of the failing franchises in non hockey markets he's created, the only way to broaden your reach is to expand to markets you wouldn't otherwise be associated with. What irks me more than anything about buttman is his obvious lack of negotiating skills. Every negotiation for a new cba with him has ended in a lockout, which leaves a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths. Start negotiating a year before the contract expires and wrap it up before the season starts. If I walked out every time I was up for a raise I would get fired. Keep the game going and stop interrupting my hockey and I'll care less who is in charge or how much they make. -
But he was our top center prospect and we'll never replace him... Kind of reminds me of a young filppula, has all the tools to become a star in the nhl, but will almost certainly never hit his full potential unfortunately, I'm glad Holland saw this and got something for him when we needed to

WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died
Euro_Twins replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Lol f*** Chicago -
I hope he turns into his uncle

Umm no. That contract as well as nills were both signed in 2010 and go to the end of next season. It's the same contract he is on now. And I believe Ken Hollands contract ends next season too unless he was extended

I proved you wrong about the money. He may get more money elsewhere but I don't think money is a deal breaker for him, he knows he can make millions wherever he goes, so he is going to pick a place attractive to him for whichever personal reasons he has

My head is about to explode -
Won't let me copy the part about his salary or that he is the highest paid coach. But look through that article, it's the last paragraph http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/wings/2010-10-11-mike-babcock-extension_N.htm
-
Ya that's our problem. We didn't have enough young guys playing.
-
Babcock makes $2m/year which is tops in the league. Not even gms make more than that. The fact is babs won't be leaving for more money, maybe for a new opportunity but no gm is offering a coach $3m/year, let alone 10
-
But but he's the next gretzky. Seriously though, I think we are currently ok at center, and if mantha puts on 15-20 pounds this summer and we can pick up camel or moulson, I think we are ok in the wing too.

Blues re-sign Elliott, announce Miller won't be back
Euro_Twins replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Not unless they trade niemi. I don't see either goalie playing backup. -
Stop confusing me lol

What's this team effort you speak of? And where do we get one? -

Euro_Twins replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well he was great in the shootout in the previous years so I would assume it was an injury. And no thanks to Miller, if he couldn't put up good numbers on st. Louis, he won't be good in Detroit -

I'm not saying he isn't a great goalie. I'm just saying great goalies can only get you so far. The fact that "the king" has only gotten past the second round for the second time now just goes to show that even if we had the best goalie in the league we wouldn't fare any better in the playoffs if we can't defend properly or score more
