Lol, don't bother with wondering why wings fans do what they do. Since I have been a fan of the wings (maybe 93' when I was around 5) all I can remember hearing from fellow wings fans was "osgood is garbage get rid of him" "we will never win with vernon" "Hasek is washed up, this team is going down the drain" "our goalie is the reason we lost" "it's all the goalies fault" "Legace is such a terrible goalie" blah blah blah... wings fans are so awful to the goalies, then they look back and talk about them like they were Gods and loved him all along. "well he's nowhere near Osgood or Hasek caliber" "at this point I would take maracle back" "Howard isn't elite like Ozzy was"... funny 15 years ago you said Ozzy would never be "elite" even after they win a cup, everything is still the goalies fault. We only won cause of our defense, our goalie was sub par... get a life people

sadly? He was our best defenseman from the moment he got called up. I wouldn't mind seeing another one of our ahl dmen out there (don't say they aren't "nhl ready" yet, because Lashoff wasn't "nhl ready" and look how great he turned out, and he wasn't even our 3rd best prospect on d

He is doing good in Calgary so far... but ya he wasn't a good fit for us. Brunner, is already eons better than Huds. He has speed, tenacity, and a bit of grit here and there. He doesn't give up on plays, and does everything he can to try to put that puck in the net. I haven't seen someone on the wings who liked scoring that much in a long time. His face just lights up even if its a crappy tip in, he loves to score. He works his butt off every shift, and in my mind has been one of the best players on the wings this year right behind Z. The only quality he has similar with Hudler is the size, but Hudler would never dare drive to the net the way Brunner does. Brunner takes the puck and makes his way right into the low slot like it was no big deal. Hudler just cherry picked and waited for pucks to hit his stick on open net chances.

There is a simple solution the wings REFUSE to adopt in these situations, dump and chase. I know we aren't fast but if we dump it and hit the boards right away we can snag the puck back when they try to clear it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Babcock needs to see if they can't break into the zone and not lose the puck 2 seconds later, dump it in, change things up. Teams know how we operate, they study the videos, so if we do the same plays over and over, they are expecting it and are ready. We need to keep them on their toes, they shouldn't know what were doing before we do it, we need to keep them guessing, which is how you create space, open up lanes, by getting the dmen to second guess themselves and go the wrong way. Just my take on it though.

We will find out soon enough if Mrazek is ready. I think he will get 4 years 12-14 million. We don't have a lot of options, and the coaches and management have a lot of faith in him.

nope, they are both listed as 5'10" 186 pounds per NHL's website

Desjardin match penalty on clean hit against Mayers
Euro_Twins replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
I agree, he should have been suspended at least 5 games, he got away like a bandit on that one. -
Fluke goal or not, we need to get goals, I would be happier with 3-4 really ugly goals a game for us to win, instead of 1 highlight reel goal a game and losing... Too much cuteness out there, franzen should keep on crashing the net and everyone else just throw the puck at the net, too much passing creates turnovers, odd man rushes and breakaways as we have seen. We got 35 shots a game last year, and we won a lot of games cause we were shooting!

That's what I was thinking, they were starting to look like city workers, I thought they were on a coffee break. Have them call upstairs and review the hit if that's what it takes, or have a tv screen on the other side of the glass they can review the play with (we do have that technology now Bettman...) -
The 2 most important details in that article: "he has faster wheels than Hudler" "he is very hard working" Hence the upgraded version of Hudler, or Huds 2.0

Bettman has shock collaers on the players and shocks them if they start playing to good against the jackets and flames lol

this. I get you are upset about goaltending issues, defense issues, goal scoring issues, injury issues and so on and so forth. The problem is, this is all stuff being discussed in gdt's and other threads. It is on all our minds, we know how we are playing, we know how many injuries we have, and we know we need to trade for a top pairing dman. Do you think Howie cruises these boards and is going to be like OMG THE AXE THINKS I'M AVERAGE, I'LL SHOW HIM!? I just think these threads should be called common sense rants about our 2013 roster, and merged into one. k I'm done now

Ya but look back the past 3-4 years, for whatever reason we have always played at the level of our opponent. If it was Columbus then we would play like a junior team, if it is st. louis or vancouver all of a sudden we are playing like the best team in the league. Shouldn't be that way, but they don't seem to care about the game when it's a garbage team..

another brutal call, birng back Fraser lol, I hated him but he never made calls like this. He was tough but fair, this is just garbage officiating!!! We can't keep going like this, it's ridiculous, will they throw Kronwall out too when he makes a big hit? -
Yes I agree, but he got a few days rest and was probably feeling pretty good, so babs let him play cause he was feeling good to go. Now that babs has seen he badly needs a rest, even after getting a few days off and still lets him start over mrazek, there is a problem. If babs hasn't seen after last game Jimmy is tired then we are screwed against st. louis tomorrow. Goalies have off days so babs probably chalked saturday up to an off day for howie and gave him the go ahead cause he was feeling good
-
Mrazek should have played, but Howie still looked better than all but maybe 2 players out there
-
I never said every goal wasn't his fault. I said he has kept us in it, made a lot of nice saves, but has been hung out to dry all game. Breakaways, open shooting lanes, our own players screening him, have all cause goals. Yes he maybe should have had 1 or 2 extra saves per game, but in reality, would it have made a difference in the end? No cause our bottom lines can't score, and our defense is blowing chunks right now
-
The only problem is, the coach usually leaves that decision up to the starting tender, and if Howie felt he had enough of a rest since Saturday, and felt good to start Babs is gonna let him. If he felt ok, Babs is going to let him start against the easy opponent to try to get the easy points, it's too bad the team didn't show up from lines 2-4 and the defense fell asleep
-
I think he is well above average. He is keeping us in the game most nights. When you always have a wide open lane to shoot at the net, it is easy to see why they score 3-4 goals/night. Can't blame howie for the most part. He has made a lot of spectacular saves this year, how many breakaways have we allowed, even short handed? If the defense doesn't do anything, than that is what the score will be. It isn't a 1 man defense, it is a team effort, and the team isn't doing their job
-
And you thought only Holmstrom got hosed on Goalie Interference calls
Euro_Twins replied to Jedi's topic in General
LMAO at the blue jackets announcers!! If the call was against them could you imagine what they would say? That wasn't the right call imo, first off kopitar had a blue jacket right in front of him pushing him back, secondly mason fell on his own, and Kopitar didn't impede his movement. it's a good goal -
kipprusoft did, he got injured after the second and irving saw his first play time this season. Dubnyk has started every game Johnny Quick has as well None are doing extraordinarily well, so it's safe to say these goalies need some rest in this short season!
