LOL, I am bookmarking this thread, so that I can one day say I told you so and have the proof, have some faith in Howie. If all the wings "fans" had it their way we would never have re-signed Datsyuk and we would be watching him dangle around Jimmy a few times a year, because everyone was convinced he didn't have "it" either, and he chokes in the playoffs. When you go tooting about how great howie was in the playoffs when we win the cup I will be there to show you this thread

I agree with you here on most points, hoever I was referring more to quick during the regular season. As I said his forwards couldn't put pucks in the net until playoffs came. Quick kept them alive until the playoffs which is when his teammates finally stepped up. I do agree though that his playoff performance was a bit overrated though. I couldn't agree more about Mrazek and howard though, Give Howie a break, he has been great for us thus far and was thrown headfirst into the playoffs as a starter, he didn't even get a chance as backup to get his feet wet. Mrazek could end up being great, but a stretch of wins doesn't instantly qualify him to take over for Jimmy.

This is one post I most certainly have to disagree with... Look at Quick last year, his forwards couldn't score until the playoffs, and his D was sub-par. Quick keptthem alive, kid is phenomenal.

I agree, but taking it for what it's worth only goes so far. I have watched some videos of Mrazek, and while the kid certainly does look amazing, and possibly our future starter, he is still young, and this could be another franzen occurrence (flash of brilliance, then a no show for a few weeks) I hope it isn't but I do not want to get too excited until I see him in red and white playing consistently.

But you're talking about 187 games jimmy played in GR, compared to like 15 Mrazek has played, you cannot compare that They were also much more matured and refined by the time they got the chance, and a few of them had started earlier, but took a few years in the nhl to really develop. Ozzy, did get chances in the playoffs, he was decent in the playoffs but never great. He had a great team in front of him which certainly helped, but he did play every year in the playoffs and was given many opportunities to prove himself. Many fans did not think he could ever win us a cup, hell people were even starting to doubt Stevie, but thankfully management saw what the fans did not, and just like howie will, he brought stanley back to hockeytown

I don't get why so many people knock Jimmy for. He is a great goaltender who has been improving year after year, ya he had a crappy go at it in the playoffs, but honestly people can we blame him? How many goals was he left out to dry for? Our whole team didn't show up in the playoffs, you can't put the blame on Jimmy when there is 4 breakaways a game and 3 2 on 0's. Ya he did make a couple mistakes and let in a goal he shouldn't have, but which goalie has not? Would I trade Jimmy? Absolutely not! He IS our future, Most goalies don't start peaking till about 30, look at thomas, lundqvist, luongo, hasek, belfour, ozzy, and many more. Red Wings fans are waaayyy too hard on the goalies. Jimmy now is 10x better than when he started, he EARNED his spot on this team. Don't forget before hiis injury last year he was riding top 5 in all top goaltending stats, no one even touched him in wins (Rinne) for about 2 weeks after he stopped playing. We need Jimmy simple as that, trade franzen.

I know right. My favourites were, if Dats gets over 5.5 I'll be pissed. He isn't worth anywhere near 7 a year. He can't even play in the playoffs. I feel like going back to the past and slapping everyone (including myself) and showing them highlight videos of what will become of Datsyuk. A few people had faith in him, which was great to see

Only if you mean they will get most of those goals in a week? With a week training camp they may still be rusty, but after being back at it for about 3-4 games there is no excuses for being "rusty"

well it is times like these that you wish Detroit was in the northwest or pacific divisions. More preferably though the southeast or northeast

Ya but I still think that is easier, and less travel for both those teams after. Ok we're good, lets send the proposal to Bettman, and Fehr, and in 1 week it will look completely different, and in 6 months it should be almost identical again and they will finally agree

the problem is how do you decide who you play the extra two games against? It would be unfair for anyone who didn't get that extra game against Columbus, or if our extra games went against St. Louis and Chicago,while Nashville played Columbus and Chicago. The only logical way unfortunately is 7 games against each division team, and figuring out which two games you get the home ice in, and which two you are away. EDIT: 7 games against each team = 3 home/ 3 away, 4 games left (1 for each team) with 1 game up for dispute of home ice equals 2 home, 2 away

That is pretty good, although the only issue I have is Vancouver is not in a good conference, too much travel. They should either be in eastern div. 3 or west div. 2. While it is not an overly high amount of travel, I do not know if they would agree to it, considering they are right in the middle of two other divisions

No one will get 50 goals, 50 points however, is probably going to happen for a few guys. I have an idea, since bettman is so good at locking players out, maybe we should send him into net as a goalie. Maybe he will lock the puck out too

It actually works out to 7 games against division teams, and 2 games (1home/1away) against the rest of the conference

I have been kind of wary about how I would feel about the season once started, and watching that first half of the video made me feel even more upset at the fact that they couldn't come to an agreement sooner, then the second half came and I nearly jumped out of my seat. I just remembered why I love hockey so much and can't wait for hockey again... LETS GO WINGS!! EDIT: LOVED the huge hit by White at the end!
