I'll let that one slide Cameron... this time (but Dats is number 1)
-
No because the players are the ones going from 57% salary to 50%, they are the ones who are losing money on contracts the owners signed, they are the ones giving up certain contracting rights in order to protect owners from themselves. Yet after all this Bettman continually states the players are not making any concessions... seems fishy to me as well
-
While this is true, the only real way to avoid this in the future is to send them a message now showing them we won't tolerate another lockout
-
No it just means he is the best points producer in the swiss league right now, that's all
-
I don't think we ever really disagreed, we just misinterpreted what the other said EDIT: or as the nhl/pa would say we were very close to a deal, but we differed on a few key issues which has caused us to break off talks for the next month
-
I agree with you, but I don't think throwing a temper tantrum and walking away was the right move, they should have said if you want 8 year deals and an 8 year cba then you get $240million on the make whole instead of 300
-
You misrepresented what I said, I don't care who is right or wrong I just want hockey. I think it is wrong for Bettman and Jacobs to throw temper tantrums and storm away yelling no more meetings because the PA tried to negotiate off their last proposal. If the PA did the same thing I would say they were being childish too. It seems everytime they get close to a deal Bettman gets fed up and stops negotiations.
-
Nor does anyone else, the players agreed to the owners 300million make whole, the pension plan, the 50/50. The problem is the players chose to NEGOTIATE off the owners last proposal and ask for 8 year contract limits instead of 5, and an 8 year cba with an opt out option after 6 years instead of 10 year cba with a opt out at 8 years.

This is complete and utter bulls*&^!!!! I left for work earlier thinking that we were so close to a season starting (but not getting my hopes up yet) and I knew somehow things could get screwed up because it IS the nhl were talking about. I come home from work, grab a beer and expect to read all about how wonderful it is they finally agreed to a deal and once again I feel like the owners and the PA have taken a huge dump on me! Thanks owners for making your offer non negotiable, and thanks Fehr for cnstantly instilling false hope in your players.
-
I just hope this does not fall apart because of contract length and 90 million dollars... they are so close to a deal it's ridiculous. The owners even caved on RFA and entry level restrictions, and extended maximum contract lengths to 7 years if you are re-signing on a team... EDIT: I find it funny how the moment Fehr and Bettman rejoin the talks everythings seemingly is falling apart... must just be a coincidence though...

haha and mine lol

Nhl negotiations are like a drinking game; 1. you make up the rules as you go along 2. most times before you can seal a deal someone gets fed up and goes home 3. you end up regretting it, someone loses all their money, and the game gets ruined for everyone 4. and you do it all again next weekend forgetting what happened the last time you did it...
-
That made me laugh hysterically, thanks
-
lmao it's up to you... I'm just your little bald yes man Jacobs
-
Don't worry just when you thought things were about to get good for Michigan, the mayans will swoop in and ruin it for you
-
Yes there are... Now ask me if they are inforced at all? We have many monopolies in canada, for example Bell has always had a landline monopoly, CN railway has the freight train monopoly, via rail has the passenger train monopoly, the government won't allow companies to come in and offer decently priced cell phone plans, internet services etc... Our whole system is based around monopolies, yet it is supposed to be governed so there are no monopolies, go figure eh. EDIT: oh I forgot this little gem, companies like all-state that offer no deductable as a way of rewarding good drivers are not allowed to offer that in canada because the government will make less money.

Minor Bright Spot in Light of a Lockout Fan Contest
Euro_Twins replied to vladdy16's topic in General
It will either be by december 7th around 5, or the season will ultimately get cancelled (probably the latter) They have it, it's called the olympics... -
I agree with this, I would rather see it called the all-state centre or something then take more money from the already desperate education fund. The education system is already in shambles.
-
Have you tried hitting it with a hammer?
-
I dunno, I am tired of waiting. I'm going to bed. EDIT: I actually just found this, meeting is now over, worth a read http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=410987

I can see the headlines "The wonder boy does it again! Sidney Crosby not only can play hockey like a God, but he can also save an nhl season. On a side note during celebrations the other 17 players lifted him up in celebration, and he fell to the floor getting a concussion and will be out 1-2 seasons..."

Thanks to you reading the podiumwatch tweets is occupying me more then checking lockout news and 9gag were combined
-
Plus at this point it would be stupid to have it. The ratings would be awful, the attendance poor, The NHL would lose more money on it than what would be invested in it.
-
#Podiumwatch - Day 81, those idiots still think we are going to save their precious hockey season...

I will remain skeptical as well as hopeful. I have gotten my hopes up already just to see everything unravel in like 10 minutes, so I won't get optimistic until everything is made official.
