Sacrifice the full season to guarantee Bettman's removal?

It is 23/30, only 8 owners need to side with Bettman, so 7 or less on his side overrules him They do not all love gary bettman. Most sided with him because it only takes 8 owners to give him full power, so they did not want the nhl to seem weak, and like they weren't all on the same page to the pa. Many owners do not agree with the lockout, but it will take 23 owners to overrule Bettman

No, not all issues are major issues by any stretch of the imagination. They are not locking out the players beczuse the players refuse to take drug tests after the trade deadline, they are locking them out because of money. All of these secondary issues can be sorted out during the season once they sign a deal, these are not deal breaking issues they are discussing, and I believe they are only discussing it to give the illusion to fans that they are making progress, as if the fans are stupid enough to fall for their parlour tricks

How in anyway as a sports fan in general can you say that is a let down, forget who you are rooting for. This is a great playoff run in every series, tigers go up 2-0, end up having to win it in game 5 after valverde messes up a chance to take it in game 4, The cardinals rally 4 runs in the 9th inning to win the series, when they had two outs and two strikes on 5 of their hits in the ninth. The Giants rally back from a 0-2 start to take the series 3-2, The yankees went up 2-0, and in game 4 went 13 innings before the yankees lost to force game 5, and then obviously the yanks win game 5 to close out the series. These games are unpredictable and fun to watch.

That is not all they talk about, I heard when Bettman and Fehr have their private meetings they talk about new ways to screw everyone over while smoking expensive cigars and drinking 50 year old scotch

Yes I know there has not yet been a proposal, I was merely quoting Tsn's article about how the PA was currently in the process of drafting a new proposal, when it will be submitted is yet to be determined, for now they have not finished drafting it yet.

I'm glad you have faith, it's nice to see someone else have faith... Problem will be if they decide to close with Valverde again(history shows it's a possibility) I hope they are smart enough to sit him a for a long time though *gingers crossed*

I don't know if you skipped over it or what, but I did directly quote the article in my post; Read the fourth paragragh, and you will see where daly says that quote exactly. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=407119

Why does Valverde always have this habit of screwing up everything for the tigers in the post-season? I mean they had a two run lead, he just needed 3 outs, 1 inning he couldn't get a single strike-out, only a pop fly for an out and let three runs in. If he put half the effort into practicing his pitching game as he puts into his stupid shennanigans pre-pitch, they may have won the game. Now the tigers don't get the extra game rest and face a possible elimination after being up 2-0 in the series... rant over, I just wish Leyland would trade him/bench him... sad really, even after he pulled the same stuff last year, ok rant is seriously over now.

Great, the next round of cancellations will be on my birthday it's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to. Check out this link, according to tsn the union is working on a proposal after the nhl "urged" the pa to submit a new proposal. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=407119
  10. Don't post stuff on here that makes me want to cry lol

I agree that we would still be in the same spot we are in now, but I may have been a little bit happier knowing that they were negotiating for 9 months before cancelling games, rather then 2 months

Where Do You Rank Our Defense?

*correction, thats what you do when you are capable of doing so. We made attempts to get Suter & Parise, and Bouwmeester and other D-men aswell. Calgary will not give us bou without making us heavily over pay for them, we already got white after they didn't want him, and they saw how that turned out. Now that they have control over it they and every other team are not going to want to be the ones who add the missing piece to detroit. Unfortunately, Suter, greene, carle among others did not want to go to detroit.Even Columbus wouldn't give us Nash for what Holland and Babcock described as a hell of a deal (I heard Flip, Franz, and Nyquist were offered) So if you were Holland what would you do?

Hudler removed from KHL team, suffers injury

I was talking about Radulov's entire KHL career, not his recent games only. Also I was merely poking fun at Hudler for being, well... Hudler. Thanks for ruining my fun

Hudler removed from KHL team, suffers injury

Datsyuk 7 points in 9 games, +7 rating, Ove had 4 points in 3 games, +5 rating, Malkin has 19 points in 11 games and a +16 rating. The goals per game are pretty equal in the KHL as they are to the nhl (5.27 goals/game in nhl, 5.47 in khl), but with far less talent, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Hudler being payed 4mil a year should be able to score points in the khl. Even Radulov gets 1.5 points/game in the khl

Hudler removed from KHL team, suffers injury

Right but Zetterberg also had a crap first half of the season in general. You fail to see the point that it is the KHL, not the NHL. There is not very much talent in the KHL, he should be able to score.

Hudler removed from KHL team, suffers injury

No Zetterberg and Filppula to set him up, so he only got 1 assist and a -4 rating in 4 KHL games, lol. Calgary you can have him!

    Rebuild or retool?

You may be right about the scoring lines, but to be fair we brought in Bert to solve that issue but he is just too slow. Franzen doesn't seem to care as long as his checks come in the mail, you can't shut Datsyuk out no matter what you try he will skate right by you. But this year we didn't get kicked out of the playoffs because we got shut down defensively, we got knocked out because Rinne played the best 5 games of his career. we had multiple games of 40+ shots on Rinne, and he was robbing us left and right making blind glove saves on Z, flopping around to make impossible saves etc... Howard came back in my opinion before he was ready because he knew MacDonald and Conks can't stop a beachball, let alone a puck. Howie only made one real mistake in those games and maybe a handful of small errors all year, he is underrated because of Lundqvist and Quick stealing the spotlight, but the players know how good he is, and so does our staff and they have a lot of faith in him(as do I). Our defence will do a decent enough job keeping pucks out of our zone, and with brunner in the top 6, he is sneakier then datsyuk and 6 years younger, and sammy on our 2/3 line depending if NyQuist gets a spot alongside Datsyuk our offence will be fine. Babcock has stressed his concern for a lack of a better word, about our small stature, but he knows it takes time to turn a small team into a big team like Boston, but even still Boston has lots of talent and size, and they didn't do anything in the playoffs this year either. It just bugs me that there are so many bandwaggon fans out there that are bashing this team because we lost a defenceman, I wish half our fans had the faith Toronto fans have year in and year out when theycan't even make the playoffs, we will be just fine. No need for a rebuild, no need for a restructure, just need for a supportive fanbase. Sorry for the rant I would also like to add that every keeps mentioning getzlav/perry but even with their talent Anaheim didn't even make the playoffs this year, in fact they finished in 13th in the West. So just to re-iterate size is only good if your team can play well together. That's why Detroit doesn't just pick up anyone, they need to be able to play on our team, and click with our guys, and of course Holland WILL NOT overpay for players.

    Rebuild or retool?

See I tend to agree with you there, as I have seen time and time again, so many wings 'fans' rooting against their own team because things are little bit more messy now. If you look at the last 5 years draft picks, look at rounds 5-7 I guarantee you that you will recognize at least one 20+ goal scorer or top d-man that was a late draft pick, nothing has changed in that regard, we just haven't gotten lucky with it in some time.

Where Do You Rank Our Defense?

I understand your frustration, but in all honesty our D isn't that bad. You fail to realize Stuart played like garbage the last year and a half. Ericsson is better then Stuart was playing when he finished the season. Kronwall and white will make a solid top pairing, Smith(assuming he plays as well as he did in the 14 games he played last season) will be great alongside Ericsson on the second pairing, and quincey, kindl, and colo will fight for nhl time, thus hopefully improving their play. You also have to remember if Colo can stay healthy is a solid d-man, and he does have experience playing on the first pairing alongside pietrangelo. Our defence as a whole is still better then %90 of the teams, if we got one good piece we would have the best defence in the league again, but being in the top %10 isn't bad at all. You also have to remember we have an elite goalie in Howie behind the defence, who can stop onslaught's of pucks. Howard's performance seems to dip when he has nothing to do most of the game, so he probably will have even better stats then last year if in fact our D isn't all that great, and I have full faith that Howie can give our team a winning chance every game he is in net

Ya I read this. Basically what I got out of it was, we still have no meetings planned but they are meeting to talk about last years money so here's to hoping (raises glass for a cheers) . Let me know when the NHL comes to an agreement, till then I'm on strike <<< this shuld be pointed at a picture of Bettman and Fehr

Any NHL'ers from your home town?

Yes, R.I.P. Bob Probert, I remembered him after I posted and I wasn't near a computer, and thanks for reminding me of Domi. Two great fighters, they had some good fights against each other

Where Do You Rank Our Defense?

I absolutely agree with you, which is why he did not re-sign Hudler(thank God) the only reason people are worried is because we lost Lidstrom and couldn't get Suter, boo hoo he was overpaid and over hyped. He won't be nearly as good without Weber. On the subject of Kronner I think he will be a solid #1 although he is prone to making mistakes here and there, aside from Lidstrom which nhl top d-man never makes mistakes? Our d will be fine now, we stay healthy and we will be fighting for top spot in the west all year!
