    Howard = Average

    Yeah because it's just a goalie vs a goalie in a game that features 40-some players over 7 games. I just can't understand why hockey fans believe this type of crap and consider their opinion worth a damn.

    Howard = Average

    Everyone huh? Selective reading? We're thinking too emotionally. We're entitled little babies, let's be honest and if Jimmy isn't giving us the lights out goaltending we're afraid every other team but us has, we lose our s*** on him and claim he's not elite. 1:1, just pure skill wise, I'd put Jimmy top 5 today. I don't care about any of the forum groupthink, I don't care about stats, I see a goalie who with a little help can be a champion. He makes huge saves, he keeps us in games (even if we're too blind to notice) and I think he's better than some of the last few goalies to win a Cup. I think some of us are just playing it safe. Jimmy hasn't won, but when he does, then we'll feel comfortable calling him elite. Talk about having no confidence in your ability to judge a player. Just run with the crowd, keep a safe opinion, draw no attention. That's weak. Either stand behind what your eyes tell you, or admit you don't know enough to judge from what you see and shut up. Quick wasn't elite until he won. Is Antii Niemi elite? Sports fans just can't fathom that an individual's performance in a team game is based much on the team around him. In ways most people won't notice or understand, but such is with the overly confident, if we don't see it, it must not exist.

    I can't remember many times I've come here after a loss. No, I don't love it.

    Howard = Average

    Howard kept is in a lot of games until now. Where were you then? We lose, Howard sucks, every forward sucks, every defender sucks, the world is ending, get the razorblades and candles it's time to check out! We win, we're awesome, life is good and we're acting as peppy as a guy in an ad for boner pills. I wonder why I even come here after a loss.

    Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

    That's not what you said but whatever, I'll take the clarification.

    Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

    You also said no one regarded him as top 20 before he was a UFA, which is just wrong. He was considered very good and a lot of Preds fans even thought higher of him than Weber. You also say it's reasonable for Weber to look worse with Suter out, but you say Suter isn't elite when he's not next to Weber. So Weber looks worse when he isn't playing next to his not-elite overrated defensive partner? Which is it? Because that makes no sense. Suter is a damn good defenseman. He's also playing on a new team, 8 games into a new season after a long break, with AHL level defensive partners.

    2/5 GDT : Flames 4 at Red Wings 1

    Every single team bombs in every single draft. Either we're agreeing that no one is great and powerful, or we should be agreeing that considering the nature of the draft Holland (and everyone else involved) has done a great job.

    Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

    It wasn't just a weak UFA class, it was the fact that this league is going to go through a defenseman drought if it isn't already. What's left? Suter, Weber, Chara? Doughty and Keith got overhyped too quick. Karlsson doesn't actually play defense. There's not much out there, not like a few years ago. If you can be one of the few teams to land a guy like that, you do it.
  10. It'd sound a lot like "fans have told me they think our officiating is top notch". Every time he has no evidence to back anything up, he begins a sentence with "I've been told by ___" or "fans have told me". Weasel words. From a weasel I 'spose. We complained about dead puck, but I honestly had more fun watching hockey back then. Somehow we managed to get actual scoring chances, not just a game full of 26 shots, 20 of which were fired from a safe distance into a crowd of 5 guys collapsing their goalie.

    No man cave is complete without one of these...

    This will just get annoying to be honest since it can't sync up with live broadcasts. It's a nice idea but in practice it won't work. Imagine someone scores, woooo, awesome! Everyone cheers, we celebrate. Damn, what a play. It's all over and everyone's getting ready for the faceof- BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ YOUR LIGHT JUST WENT OFF AFTER THE PUCK DROP. No thanks. Great idea in theory though.
  12. Stop protecting these officials. I don't care about any of the usual BS excuses like the game is too fast or they can't get them all right. Blah blah, let's get a second or third or tenth pair of eyes on this. Make stuff like this reviewable, get a few officials watching screens if you have to, anything. We're so paranoid about slowing the game down that the eventual winner of the game will have no credibility.

    Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

    That's easy to say but every time I watched them I saw Suter being more responbsible than Weber. I dunno why we don't talk about it more but Weber sometimes gets caught going for the big hit, much of the time at the blue line. It was Suter who was there to sweep up the mess. When Suter was out, Weber never quite looked as effective but when Weber was out Suter looked fine. Granted I agree with the part about the team but I think that's really all it is. You can't just stare at numbers, you have to watch them and Suter hasn't looked as bad as his numbers indicate. I think he would've been fine here. Now would we have overpaid? Sure, but you have to overpay if you want good players nowadays. So you save up as long as you can until you can afford to splurge on that one important piece. And that contract isn't for 8 games, it's for many years. I have a hard time believing Suter just forgot how to be effective in 8 games. More than likely he would've done fine here .

    Honestly I don't even mind about the outside portables. I hated standing in line smelling it.

    2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

    I don't know what debate is going on, but the whole Puck Daddy thing isn't the most credible thing out there. Greg Whateverinski has never impressed me much, nor has the entire column. Their opinions to me are worth about as much as anyone else, only he can string together words decently. That doesn't give you insight.

    Doors on both sides. Urinals. Tons of them. And tons of toilets. BEAUT. Let it be known I pissed with great joy.

    Smith out 3-4 weeks (per twitter)

    We can look for explanations but really, it's a dice roll. We're on the bad end. Sometimes we confuse the hell out of ourselves trying to find reasons for chance. Save yourself the headache, it's random. A shorter season may play a part but not that much.

    NHL rescinds match penalty to Blues' Backes

    Do you actually want to talk about it or are you just going to blindly and automatically deny anything I say? And don't whine about officiating, it goes in your favor far more often than not. And let's be real, you're the flavor of the month. You should probably expect it to continue deep past April.

    2012 NFL Thread

    I don't care about either team but the Ravens just had the biggest cake walk to a title ever. Only legit win was against NE. But hey, the NFL got what it wanted. Sadly this is what sports have become.

    NHL rescinds match penalty to Blues' Backes

    it was a bad call but you know how consistently we're dicked on bad calls? And how often STL plays goon hockey and gets away with it? If you believe in karma, last night was a textbook example.

    2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

    This is what happens when they actually call STL on their goon BS, and we decide to fight back and play their style of game. Suddenly they're not putting up 6. We're better, we just have to decide to play through their physicality and forecheck instead of looking forward to the next game like so many teams who don't feel like applying the Blues' own style against them. Look at it this way-while our bottom 6 isn't scoring, our top 6 is. The bottom six won't be ice cold forever, they'll pick up. Our stars are carrying us when we need them to. That's what a team is all about. We could easily be in a scoring drought all around.

    2/1 GDT : Blues 3 at Red Wings 5 (Z with Hat Trick)

    We're a better team. They play harder. If we come out and outwork them and play their style we can not only win but win easily. But that's the Blues style-play on that edge between rough and dirty and just pound the other team into submission. And in the regular season teams are more prone to say screw it, and look towards the next game. It'll depend on how we want to play them. We can win, if we really want to.

    Gretzky <3's Zetterberg

    None of them play defense so it doesn't really matter. It's like comparing 3 Range Rovers and then talking about gas mileage. It's just not something any of them are good at and it's not the focal point. Granted Sid is the only one who will try but trying doesn't equal playing defense. He'll skate into his own zone but doesn't quite know how to read a play or play D like true Selke winners.
