My exact thinking as well. Plus, I think the Wings can beat any team, I just don't expect it consistently or even regularly.

Well, it was a great comeback, great game. I can live with this loss. No issues with Matthews either, seems like a nice kid and he's extremely good. But hey, Mantha with a 3-point night. Fans should be able to take some positives out of this one.

If you don't think Mantha is worth being excited about you are going to be very hard to please.

You could literally hear Babcock screaming on the bench, rallying his troops right before they took the lead. The Wings just don't have an answer for that intensity.

Awesome game. You can still see that elite level in a few of these guys, it's pretty crazy. Watching Larionov quarterback a cycle for what seemed like 2 minutes was really fun.

AA looks to have been benched after that last goal he was on the ice for where technically he didn't pick up his man. Who didn't get benched though? The guy who singlehandedly caused that goal and put AA in a scramble situation with the most pathetic clearing attempt right to an opposing player that I've ever seen, Danny "dumpster fire" DeKeyser. If AA is benched, Danny D should be sitting for Sproul. No real accountability, just nit picking a specific player for some reason by Blashill. Unfortunately it's one of the only game changing players we have right now who can create offense on his own. Not like we need more of that.

And DeKeyser's dumpster fire of a year continues. How he isn't scratched is beyond me.

Howard has had long stretches of mediocrity as well, on much better teams. I wouldn't give up on Mrazek yet.

I was really just saying he's been bad overall, not tonight in particular. However I still disagree, I think he's had a bad night. He isn't capable of making a big save tonight. I don't think any NHL goaltender would be happy with 4 goals on 20 shots. *bad night relative to the standards I hold him too. I think he could be a very good goalie.

You're just barking up the wrong tree is all, I'm not saying the D is good. But we need a really good goaltender to compensate, Mrazek isn't that right now.

I didn't say anything about the defense, but I wasn't Jensen's fault either, it was a 3 on 2. He needed more support from the Offense. That said, Howard has stolen games this year and is among the top in save percentage with the same team D. Mrazek's save percentage is under .900, inexcusable. Also, the amount of space he left open for Jack Eichel was laughable.

Mrazek is bad right now. Momentum killer.

Green is pivotal to our offensive success in my opinion, making his loss a pretty big blow. I am excited to see Jensen, however. Hopefully last game's offense was a spark for some confidence, LGW! Just heard on NHL network that the game was going to be delayed to due to ice conditions players said were "terrible." I don't use Twitter, but apparently it was a Helene St. James tweet.

Was at this game, though I left after the second to try and avoid messy roads (which I didn't succeed in doing). Thought the Wings looked great after the initial two goals against. After the goals started coming in, the building felt electric, was one of the more exciting games I've been to. Like, 3 goals. Though in fairness I thought the Wings earned them.

I sure hope Athanasiou isn't centering the 4th over Glendenning.

I think you're second question helps answer the first one as well. If things continue like this, it'll make a good coach becoming available all the more enticing. I would love Hitchcock. Isn't he retiring though?

I agree that ideally, neither should be in the top six. Helm is, however, more than a checker in my opinion, and is optimally used on the 3rd line. He looked great this year before going down.
