Well that game sure started nerve wracking. Really great to see them continue beating them senseless while they were down though and get the multiple insurance goals. Exactly what the team needed for their confidence going into Christmas. Hopefully Kronwall is okay though, him being out is pretty much my worst nightmare.

Agreed. Aren't these basically the same lines as last game that scored us one goal? Also, I hope the PP lines have changed back to what they were when it was actually working. Datsyuk and Zetterberg on the same unit has not garnered any results, not to mention it completely defangs the second unit.

I thought about that during the game. I have no qualms with the way he's been utilized so good for him and belated happy birthday. He may not be what he once was but he still seems like a good dude and a fine 3rd/4th line fill in.

Obviously true. However those first 2 were incredible goals and ones I wouldn't expect many to stop. There weren't two five hole goals in a row either so that was nice.

Could you imagine if McGrattan and Babcock BOTH were on the bench mean mugging the shooter? They'd pull a Patrick Eaves and tumble to the ice in fear before getting a shot off.

This is how the Wings organization is. If he was upset for being scratched 7 games (which I doubt were even back to back) think how he would've reacted if he had been in the Nyquist or Tatar situation. If he can't handle things like that without threatening to go to Sweden then I doubt he's the kind of player the Wings want. They don't just look for playing ability/potential, they seem to look for personality too. The idea of giving him different treatment than the other prospects because of accolades he earned in a different league and a sense of entitlement would piss me off more than the fact that he left. If this is "mismanagement" then everything Holland does with the prospects is mismanagement, because like it or not it's consistent.

Well it was nice to see the shootout go past the first 3 rounds, and our goaltender actually make a few saves. Still gotta score though. Would've liked to have seen Jurco go earlier, I think it's obvious he's got the hands for the shootout that we need.

Are our PK and PP similar too? Goals for and against? Or how about just our place in the standings in general? If people don't look at the majority of games we've played this year and realize we're faster and obviously better in general there's something wrong and people are just looking for problems. It's weird that these posts start cropping up only after a few losses.

Agreed, especially after the last game with them. Glad I couldn't watch this one.

The world is falling!!! I'm not going to use the last 3 games as a sample size for predicting this teams future, I'd rather use the entire season we've currently played to judge them. It looks pretty good.

Go Wings! My wedding rehearsal is today so it looks like this will be the first game of the year I miss. Hopefully last game against Florida taught them something and they come out and crush 'em tonight.

True that. He seems to do pretty well in shootouts though. Have to stick with Jimmy (or whatever goaltender played that day), just have to hope he can start stopping them at the same percentage he used to. If I recall his overall numbers in the shootout aren't bad, just the last few years.

I hesitate to post this because I don't really feel great about continuing this thread, but a lack of scoring isn't an excuse for being poor in the shootout. We can't score 4 every game, we're gonna have to win a shootout sometimes too.

His 60 minute play (which has been great for the most part) isn't really relevant to his shootout stats, which are undeniably bad this season. We can't expect to score 4 every game, we've got to find a way to win some of these shootouts too. That's obviously on both the players and the shooters, but honestly there's no way our shooters are going to score in the skills competition at the same clip other teams are scoring on Howard. I'd be more upset at our lack of goal scoring that game if our goal scoring had actually been a problem lately, but it really hasn't. It definitely wasn't for lack of trying that game either, like I said some nights they're just not going to go in despite a huge number or chances.

Franzen the last few games has come out flying in the 1st period and then absolutely shuts down for the 2nd and 3rd. Is it a conditioning thing or a mental thing? Either way it's frustrating.

I ******* hate the leafs, particularly that neanderthal Phaneuf. So sick of seeing that cave man cheap shot everything. And how many times am I going to have to watch Howard let in 5 hole shots? Overall the Wings played good and I'm happy for that over being dominated but at the same time and considering who it was against, it makes for such a frustrating loss.
