Ice Bucket ALS Challenge: Bettman edition
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
Was thinking the same thing. I can't believe she's 75! -
I think this is pretty much right but I'm not too thrilled about it. I can't stand Abdelkader in the top 6.

Helmer: First one to get a herniated disc in the new Season?
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to Spongewingredpants's topic in General
I was thinking this was weird too. And what's Tootoo's wife doing on Herlmer's shoulders? -
Signed Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
With how slow it's been on here lately and the crappy day I'm having at work seeing this makes me a happy camper. I know there's always lots of pessimism around here but I gotta say I can't wait for the season to start and watching the wings play, mediocre or not. Go wingssss! Edit: and to say something more relevant I'm surprised at how much he got, but definitely not upset about it. Worth it I think even if just to show him the Wings have some faith in him and build a good relationship going forward. -
Rule Changes in the AHL (what the NHL has considered)
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to drumnj's topic in General
I agree about the helmet rule, I don't like how it sits now. A stoppage of play however would lead to people abusing it and overall too many controversial plays. Even with the few times it happens with goalies it's frustrating. -
Fight with Pronger. f*** Pronger (though best of luck with his current issues, but as a hockey player f*** him).

Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to anthonyn66's topic in General
I agree with those saying they don't blame Cleary. Seems obvious to me. I absolutely hate this signing and it frustrates me endlessly but no one should be bashing Cleary about it. He wants to play and contribute and Holland is dumb enough to let him go for it. -

it does seem that way. Though I bet more people would be willing to sign here if we were just a more competitive team. -

...I keep checking back here for good news. Not this crap. Pointless signing and detrimental if he actually plays. -
I was wondering how this was going, apparently congrats is in order. Nice job!

Got my vote, good luck. Congrats making it to finals.

Kid seems to have a great attitude and work ethic. Rooting for him, hope he does well.

Yeah I didn't have near 45 but was able to post. My account is probably a year old it so.Edit: Flashy up 182 to 139, woo.
-
Damn won't let me vote. I can't believe how rude some of those people are. The hell. I reloaded the page and suddenly I could vote on it.
-
I have an account but not nearly 45 posts. Really wish I could vote, good luck.

I don't think Nyquist will slump (hope not at least), but I definitely think he'll come back down to earth. Really pulling for Weiss, I don't think he should already be given up on.

signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
I've been thinking this a lot lately, that we're stagnant that is. The team just looks like it has no drive lately, and I think this signing will make it worse as a whole. Wasn't Quincey initially not going to be brought back? The fact that Holland flip flopped and brought him back now basically spews a "well I guess I'll sign Kyle Quincey then" attitude, and makes it seem like there's just not a lot of drive to win in the organization. -

I'm agreeing with you simply because you called someone a goober. Made my day.Anyway I'll remain in denial about Niskanen until he officially signs elsewhere. -
Same here, I haven't watched either enough. I initially voted for Niskanen because he's younger and a righty, but after thinking on it a bit more I worry about his good year being a fluke, while Ehrhoff is a known thing and consistent (as far as I know) but slightly older. Hard choice but I'm leaning more towards Ehrhoff at this point.Edit: Yea DeGraa If you're talking about the Wild I'm pretty sure their captain is Mikku Koivu.
-
. Koivu? On topic I'd take either Erhoff or Niskanen. I'll be disappointed if all we get is Boyle. Nothing against him I'd just like us to sign a guy who doesn't have a foot in the door of retirement already.

I was literally just thinking the same thing and talking to my girl about it. I thought he missed almost the entire year, not played over half of it!

Compliance buyout expected to be used on Tootoo
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to Nightfall's topic in General
Like I said I've got mixed feelings about him, and it usually comes down to how I'm conflicted about his contract and how effective he'll be near the end of it. I just don't by into the argument that when he actually does produce, and in bunches, it's meaningless. He definitely didn't step up in the playoffs when we really needed him (though to be fair I'd say no one really did). But his hot streaks can and have turned the tide of some games. Just call me confused about this whole "he only scores during blowouts" thing until I see the numbers that indicate that. Ps. Sorry that's my last post on Franzen in this thread, realized I've deviated from the topic. And on the topic I'm alright with the Tootoo buyout since a compliance buyout can't be used for Kindl. -
Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This is perfect IMO. When his inevitable injuries occur Mrazek will get the call and get some more nhl experience, but will still get a lot more time playing with the Griffins. Win win. I would've been a little bummed if it was anything more than 1 year but I think this is ideal.
