ECQF - Series C - Penguins versus Blue Jackets
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
Yet. -
I'd swap Nyquist and Alfie, otherwise totally agree. I just feel like that second line won't produce without Nyquist and if I recall his hot streak was in full steam when he was with Legwand and Franzen. Either way I just want to see Jurco back on the kid line.
-
Exactly this. So at this point I'm neither here nor there about whether he resigns or not. I wouldn't mind seeing one of the kids brought up though.
-
I voted Nyquist because I think there's no "ifs" about it. We don't make the playoffs without that ridiculous hot streak. Kronwall a close second though. He had some rough patches (in my opinion) but that's understandable considering how heavily we leaned on him and I was really impressed that he still played after some of the hits he took and wasn't on IR more. Champ.
-
Yes I'm aware, but aside from tatar's first I didn't even think they were good attempts. And it was 3 I thought? Not sure, either way though you can't argue that we're bad in the shootout.
-
I hope the wings practice breakaways in the off season, jeez. Great game though, awesome for Mrazek to get that shutout.

Around The League - Eastern Conference Playoff Race
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to a topic in General
All the sweeter when we beat the Bruins. And it just makes him look stupid anyway considering how terrible the east is relative to the west, which we dominated for so long. Though I'm sure by now he's used to looking stupid for the things he says. -
I think Quincey's been pretty good lately. Not great or stellar, but solid. Aside from some of the penalties he takes I don't think he's the detriment people make him out to be. Do I wish he contributed more offensively? Sure, but he's not at the top of my list of defensive worries. Kindl on the other hand is infuriating.

Nyquist since Datsyuk's Return & Unnatural NHL Development
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to gcom007's topic in General
It's not like he's on a 10 game scoreless streak. He was just on such a torrid pace that it looks bad now that he isn't scoring 2 every game. He still looks good out there to me and that's what's important. I will say though that I think the kid line is better with Jurco on it and Nyquist would be better off somewhere else, like Franzen's spot maybe. -
A serious comparison? I'm not saying Avery = Crosby in every way, including talent. I'm saying on ice some of the things Crosby has done are just as stupid and unsportsmanlike like.
-
While I do think he's matured a bit I still don't get the people defending him. He's going to be remembered as one of the greats, but at the exact same time be remembered as a classless, diving whiner on ice. He didn't get that reputation because he's good, he got it because his antics are (were) Sean Avery level ridiculous. That being said I do hate him a lot less than I did when he was younger.

Detroit could be dangerous come playoff time...

I agree in the D and goal, though I do have hope that Howard will step up. But I actually like our forwards this year a bit more. -

Do you remember last year? I do. That doesn't make me deluded. I was much more scared of Anaheim last year than I am of 2014 Pittsburgh. -
Signed Glendening signed to 3 year extension
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to Nyquistfan14's topic in General
Better and worse is irrelevant and circumstantial. Different people fill different needs. I don't think Sheahan belongs on the fourth line and would be under utilized there, plus why break up the kid line? Glendening is a fantastic shutdown guy and for some reason agitates so well as to throw people off their game. And while it took him a long time to score it's not as if he wasn't generating his own chances. I think he'll end up scoring more than people think.Edit: looking at the lines when everyone's healthy I'm not sure where you slot Sheahan, so ignore that fourth line part. I would rather have Glendening on the wing over Miller though, answering your question of who I think is worse. I'd also take Glendening over Andy everyday. I don't think Anderson brings much to the table, tangible or intangible, besides decent defense and face offs. -
GDT 4/5 GDT - Canadiens 5 vs Red Wings 3

Hey I'm a fan of the Monster , but he looked bad. And I consider bad and "below average" pretty much the same. I didn't say he was dreadfully terrible or anything. He made some big saves but there were a couple I thought he should've had, or at least not made so easy for Montreal. -

Monster looked bad today. Lashoff was brutal. Speaking of which why was Lashoff paired with Kronwall that shift (during the second goal) and Smith moved to the Kindl pairing? They switched back shortly after but I was so confused. So disappointing to lose a game like that where it seemed like we controlled most of the play. Deserved at least a point. -
Detroit says Weiss "Not Getting Better", likely done for year

Just out of curiosity why do you think he's on drugs? There a rumor like that or something? -
Is this sped up? It looks crazy.

GDT 4/2 GDT - Bruins 2 at Red Wings 3

Dear LGW, Nyquist. -
Born in '89 I can't remember the wings not being in the playoffs and I'll be damned if I start making that memory. So count on me being blackout drunk if we're statistically eliminated so I can pretend it never happened

My thoughts too. Trying to keep optimistic though. -

Is anyone else worried that we're playing a team that's in the middle of a brutal losing streak? I feel like these situations never go well for the Wings. Either way go Wings! I failed to predict Glendening's first last game but he had plenty of chances, so I'm making the prediction again today! -

Calling Glendening's first today. -

Lackluster game all around. We were hemmed in our zone far too much, refs made and didn't make some questionable calls (both ways). I thought that third goal given up by Howard was somewhat weak despite it being a 2 on 1, and we really can't expect Nyquist to keep scoring every single one of our goals. I still like a lot of what I'm seeing lately but we just can't seem to get everything clicking at once. -

Hoping to see Nyquist keep lighting it up. He has more goals than assists, that's pretty exciting.
