gdt 2/6 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Panthers 1
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Where did you see the Babcock quotes? That line also makes me nervous and I want to see the context. -
I agree with this totally. Unnecessary contract. That said I like them both fine but would choose Eaves. Miller has absolutely no scoring touch.
-
It bugs me, especially if it's history being made like with Gallaraga (the game that introduced my fiancé to baseball, score) but for some reason I don't get nearly as mad with blown calls in baseball. I only come close when someone is tossed for no reason (see: Miguel Cabrera). There's just something about hockey's bad calls and how predictable they are that infuriate me.
-
I agree with this. I'm also a hardcore baseball fan and I don't get nearly as pissed off, or as often, as I do with hockey when it comes to calls. Can't speak for football, basketball I however find to be a joke sometimes.
-
Lol it's all good, I was pretty pissed after game myself. It's obviously not all refs fault, a 3 goal first is pretty bad itself. But when you're a struggling team the refs become a much bigger factor.

gdt 2/2 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Capitals 6 (OT)

If they weren't letting things go, which is something I encourage because I enjoy seeing the players just play, then they were simply bad officials even along NHL standards. However I think it's a fair assumption to say the refs put the whistles away sometimes. -

I don't remember saying there was an anti wings conspiracy, in fact I'm pretty sure I said I hate inconsistency both ways. My point was that they were clearly letting things go until suddenly they weren't, but that suddenly happened to be in OT causing a 4 on 3. The timing was stupid. I didn't say they missed calls because it was a fast game , I said they were intentionally not calling things and letting the players play. And the fact that it happens every game does not justify it, it's exactly my problem with it because it makes hockey aggravating to watch. -

I don't quite get this post. Are you saying you think there was nothing Washington did that was let go? If so I wonder what game you were watching. Regardless your post is referring to the exact inconsistency I was talking about it. I hate it when it goes either way. And make up calls shouldn't be a thing either. -
There's obviously less penalties, however that's irrelevant to me seeing as how the real issue is inconsistency, accuracy, and timing which remains just as bad if not worse. Situational calls are so obvious it's painful. Nice condescension though.

do you understand the concept of consistency? Because that's what the refs were severely lacking. Put the whistles away for the end of regulation and make a weak call that leads to a 4 on 3 of all things in OT, arguably the best situation for a team to be in. And for those of you saying "we'll the wings should be playing a 60 minute game and it's their fault", as a fan realizing we're not the dominant team we used to be it's horrendous and borderline not worth the aggravation of watching the refs largely influence the outcome of games with inconsistent calls. The Wings play is irrelevant to that fact. -
Hey sorry to pose this question here but since we're on the subject where do you guys see these griffins games? I wouldn't mind checking them out to see our prospects play and how miserably slow Sammy still is.
-
I think the lineup looks good and would be happy with it but the real problem is when we get destroyed by injuries.
-
I like Andersson but at this point it just seems like Sheahan is just plain better. Andersson is solid out there to kill some minutes but I find myself just never expecting him to produce. If he could skate a little faster I think he'd be great coupling it with the chemistry he has with the other Griffins.

1/26 GDT: Panthers 5 @ Red Wings 4 (SO)
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Refs were atrocious this game. I knew once that goal was called back it would end up costing us. Feel like I've seen it before... -
Where do you think he gets slotted? The lines we've had going have been great together. Not to say I'm not happy to have him back.
-
Awesome, about time. What does this do to our cap hit? I know that's been mentioned quite a few times around here but I can't remember now.

I don't post on here very often though I do lurk quite a bit, but I absolutely had to sign on to pose one question. Is this real life? -
Signed Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
I signed on just to say I like this post. While I'm not the biggest Cleary fan, I have a HUGE amount of respect for him and am glad he's a Red Wing. I really appreciate loyalty in this day and age. -
First I want to say that I understand where a lot of the Kenny critics are coming from. But at the same time how jaded have we become as a fan base? Kenny's not doing this or that that other gms are doing. To me that seems like he's not making the mistakes the other gms are making then. Have they made the playoffs for 20 consecutive years? Hell look at how excited Columbus fans got last season that their team ALMOST made the playoffs where the wings just keep doing it year after year despite Kenny's apparent failings, and I kind of think we take it for granted. I'm not saying KH is perfect of course, I just wish we appreciated that no team can boast the same consistency as the wings, who always find a way to win. Other teams have huge ups and downs. Great a few years only to be terrible the next 5. Until we stop making the post season (which I know can happen any year these days) and being cup contenders, because yes anyone who makes the playoffs is a cup contender these days, then I won't ***** just yet. Sorry if that came off as a jumbled rant. I'm at work and had to type it up real quick lol. Edit: and I don't want to sound like I'm calling all of us fans spoiled brats or anything. I think we've just become accustomed to a certain amount of success that other fan bases only wish they could experience. So until we miss the playoffs, every year is a good year!

Selanne hints at retirement still being far off
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This pretty much summed up my feelings. Big fan of Selanne, would love to see him keep it going Anaheim or no Anaheim. -
BOG Approves realignment, Detroit to the East in 2013/14.
Wheelchairsuperhero replied to IDLE19's topic in General
So I've seen people come up with some crazy statistics on these boards, so I've been wondering if anyone can tell me how we've faired playing against these eastern teams in the past. I've been to a few Bruins games and we won both times. -
What you said.

So I haven't been around these forums for very long so I don't know much. But from what I can tell the same guy always does these graphics and I've been thinking that's pretty awesome. So thank you sir.

To get right to the point I don't think we should trade Kronwall at this point. I actually think the idea is kinda ridiculous, no offense intended. I think he'll find his groove defensively. I'd prefer he just wasnt our top guy because I don't think that's where he excels, but he's still a valuable asset. Offensive numbers pretty darn good too. Not that I know everything about hockey, so don't yell at me too much please
