Datsyuk has a pretty good wrister, he just takes a lot of low percentage shots (into legs, off sticks into the mesh). I think the teams lack of offensive creativity is for a big part on the coaches. Our planned 'plays' are easily read a mile away by any team's defenders. If I see kronwall switch positions at the blue line for a one timer pass from the other point man just to either: a) have it blocked or b) have the pass intercepted, one more time, I will throw a temper tantrum. Oh and our constantly changing lines don't help much either. I don't think chemistry is a HUGE deal, but if you play for a long time with someone eventually a play only you guys will do together will be born.

Agree with this completely. I had pretty much given up hope for Kindl ever being able to play well at the NHL level, but he's made me a believer lately. Emmerton I never really had much of an opinion about, he was kind of just there. Now I'm seeing a lot of tenacity and effort from him that's really impressed. And that goal he scored a few games ago was a real nice shot, and well deserved that game.

Call me stupid, but what did those numbers just prove wrong? So our shooting percentage is worse I gather, anything else taken from that is just speculative. And "simple math" never tells the whole story.

Our d's idea of a good breakout pass is a panic chip into the neutral zone or a panic shot off the boards. In the offensive zone their current idea of cycling is to panic and shoot into the opposing players knees in front of them. Is our offense slumping? Yes. Is our D a big part of our offense? Also yes. You think losing gpg average is all on the forwards? Lol. Yeah lidstrom or rafalski sure never helped that stat. Unless it's on the rush, scoring a goal is usually a 5 man process.

I think north of 5 is a bit much for Flip based on his production, but at the same time worry about the team without him. I think he's undervalued on these boards. I'm good with Howard though, aside from a few games thought he's been real good this season. And last season before he got injured? Awesome.

Tatar was making rookie mistakes his last few games. Lots of people I think are still starry eyed by his great start and don't see it, but his youth started to show in the wrong ways. Do I still think he deserved top 6 over Cleary? Totally. I'm not going to argue Nyquist over Tatar, I like them both. I just don't think the move will be impactful either way. And Abdelkader and Cleary have both proven that just because you play with Datsyuk doesn't mean you put up points, lol. Nyquist got a lot of time with that line last year because he was doing well at it.

I know everyone has been real impressed with Tatar because he came out of the gate flying, but in reality he's cooled considerably lately to a level you'd more expect out of him. The last two games he played in particular he was really weak on the puck. I'm not hating on Tatar or anything, I think he's great, but at this time I don't think you'll see a real impact if Nyquist is up instead of Tatar. That being said I'd take both of them over some of our current roster. And if I remember right I think their numbers are pretty similar NHL wise. I know Nyquist has a bit more time with Datsyuk from last year, but still not a real game changing difference.

What a joke. Calgary, seriously? Surprise, our defense rears it's ugly head. Smith was awful in particular. I wish the stat sheet showed how many terrible chip into the neutral zone giveaways occurred. Can we make an outlet pass please? Team effort was terrible, and Monster sure didn't bail us out of anything. And I wish people would quit spouting the same nonsense on these boards about Abdelkader, Cleary, and Franzen. By far not our biggest problems. Abdelkader had a pretty good game, even if he looks out of place on the 2nd line. Cleary looked great in a 3rd line position. Franzen missed the net way too many times but was no worse than the rest of this team. Can't wait until we play an elite team so we can win a game, because playing bad teams is impossible for is.

I feel like the only way they would play Tootoo over Nyquist at this point would be if Nyquist had some sudden injury. Otherwise I would be thoroughly confused, though I may just be dumb.

I haven't been able to watch the video because my phone won't load it right now. But from the way I understand it you have to let up if someone is in a vulnerable position, even if they were dumb enough to put themselves there. Not to mention it's Perry, I wouldn't be surprised if he was purposefully negligent and contacted the head.

I wouldn't mind seeing OT extended to 10 minutes. I feel like it would cut down on a lot of shootouts. As for the shootouts themselves I'm kind of on the fence about. I enjoy watching them, especially when you have a player like Datsyuk on your team, but even when the Wings win them I don't get a very big sense of satisfaction. I feel like the 3 point games and shootouts take a lot of meaning away from wins and question the integrity of the standings. Oh and I think the Kane move is kind of stupid. And I definitely don't think he's the only one doing it because he's the only player who possesses the ability to skate at a turtle's pace. Other players just probably think they have a better chance doing other things, it's not a perfect move after all. But like someone else said the shootouts are supposed to emulate breakaways, so I think some kind of timer could be put into place.

That scares me all around. Nothing against Monster but Howard has been pretty great lately. And what if his flu spreads around the locker room? Nooooooo.

Hoping Tatar will be back soon but am definitely excited about our top 6 tonight. Let's get those 2 points boys!

Datsyuk has had lackluster linemates, but he's also losing an overwhelming amount of face offs which is not like him at all. I think he's playing hurt. I also think Zetterberg is playing pretty bad, he can't take a pass. Don't know if I can make the hurt excuse for him though.

Wait you mean our third and fourth lines won't do our scoring every game? Top lines need to be changed, this is just getting stupid. Yeah our second line is good defensively, too bad we need to score. If I see Abdelkader or Cleary bumble more pucks I'm gonna throw some kind of temper tantrum.

Anyone notice the last 3 or so games we've been seeing a lot of 5 on 5 hockey? I'm seeing plenty of plays and thinking "oh jeez something is about to be called" on either side, and it hasn't been! I'm totally digging this, really enjoyable to watch some 5 on 5.

Why did Tatar only get like, 30 seconds with Datsyuk again? Finally shake up the lines to kickstart a, let's be honest, stagnant offense only to go right back to the same old terrible second line after Tatar fails to get a hat trick in two shifts. I think the second line is pretty reliable defensively, but Datsyuk should not be centering a grind line. Edit: I don't mean to sound like I'm whining. Definitely glad we won. Just wish the victory was uh... more convincing.

Thoughts on the Blackhawks? They're gonna lossssse. I bet Datsyuk puts on his one man army suit on Sunday.
