I think everyone is low on Weiss for a combination of reasons. As I mentioned before, he is overpaid (4th highest salary on our roster! wtf..) and didn't perform (sure, might've been injured even while playing). Since he didn't play at all last season and might not be able to play again this season, that contract is just insane. Sure, you can't blame the player for some manager stupid enough to offer him that much money, but you don't have to like that player either, from a fan perspective.

Nobody is going to take his contract. Overpaid, underperforming and now injured. It would make Holland an absolute genius if he gets him traded, and the return almost cannot be worse..

Not interested in serous discussion anymore..? Ok, i can see that. But, if you head in that direction, saying "we need to get in and get our youth to learn more", then you have to make not just the Legwand-Trade. Then you should've gone for an upgrade on D, too.

Even then ...good business ≠ money now at the expense of future money..

Currently I would prefer these lines: Franzen - Legwand - Alfie Nyquist - Anderson - Abby Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco Miller - Glendening - Bert I think that first line would mesh pretty well and on the 2nd line Nyquist could a) bring the creatitvity that Andersson and Abby lack and b) profit from playing weaker opposition than he does on the first line. I wouldn't break up the kid line because right now, even taking into account their mistakes, they are the bright spot and an overall plus.

IMO it goes even further. Not only shouldn't we compare players from different ages, it's also very hard to compare different positions. Plus, the number of titles you win depends on the teams around you and the strength of the league at that time. Therefore I don't see any reasonable way to compare players from different ages/positions.

?? No, it would make less sense. If doctors say all of them are not coming back this season, then you don't sell youth. Seems like the streak is more important to management than our long term development & chances. With them not coming back we would only be a first round exit with no chance to upset anyone. At this point, I'm calling Jarnkrok up and give him minutes. Plus, I try to dump someone expandable for a pick or a younger player. Kenny's actions don't make no sense at all. The only defense for him might be that he's just an employee for Mr.I and if that man decides "playoffs now > future", then he has to follow those orders...

The sad point is...it would not even take that much to get him, if we just had a good GM...should've fired Holland and promoted Neil...instead, we're stuck with Kenny and Jim is going to improve the Stars..

What sucks the most is how easy it could've been to get an upgrade on D...I mean, look at the trades happening before the deadline...how couldn't we get let's say Ehrhoff for a 3rd and a 5h or something...or a guy like Edler, with the Canucks obviously selling after the Luongo-Trade and with Kessler available...jesus christ..

The kid line is f***in' amazing.

That could be expected, because he is good. He could be a great threat if we were healthy and could have someone like him on the 2nd or 3rd line, depending on the setup. The deal just looks weak because we gave up our #1 center prospect/ many other teams managed to get higher returns for less. But that's not Legwands fault. From all i've seen or read about him, you can expect that man to fight every minute he's on the ice. Don't think there will be much to criticize about him..

Seems that deal he just signed is absolutely fitting.. That said...let's shoot some ducks.

Pavel .. . . Didn't like our game though. Third period we looked like some reeling fighter waiting for the knockout punch..quite embarassing. Against a good, playoff-bound opponent that would've been just another period where we surrender 2-3 goals in a row and lose the game...
