ECQF Game 1 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 3, Red Wings 2

At the end of the day, we played a very good road game. If that game happens 10 times, we probably win 7 of them... And then no-one complains. If there is an issue or a question mark, it has to be in net. It takes 16 wins to bring the Stanley Cup home - is Howard capable of stealing even one? We have seen Mrazek do it.

ECQF Game 1 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 3, Red Wings 2

Sadly, we dominated most of this game and I don't know how many times we are going to do that throughout this series. It's unfortunate to come out with a loss in a game we could have easily won... If that Brad Richards shot went it to make it 3-1 in the 2nd, totally different outcome. Most disappointed in Jimmy Howard - that was not playoff goal-tending. Despite the actual score, this is what I counted: 4 Goals on 35 shots. 2 good saves. 2 cross-bars. The 1st and 2nd goals were questionable to say the least. Not 100% his fault on the 3rd, but I don't get the guy sometimes... 99% of the time he's ultra aggressive (which lead to the 1st goal and the cross bar by Coburn), but then decides to sit on the goal line for a (waste high) cross crease pass on Killorn's goal. I have no idea if Mrazek can regain his form - though I feel a lot of his struggles came from fatigue, as he has never seen a workload like what he had earlier this year - but at the very least he can be better than Howard, who is what he is at this point. Incredibly frustrating to watch.

ECQF Game 1 GTD: Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:00 ET

There's no reason we don't win this series. Keep in mind: Coaching/Playing a 7 game series against the same team (with equal rest) is much different than anything you experience during the regular season. Did we close the season with a convincing effort? Obviously not. But playing at 3 different buildings in 4 nights, is a scenario much harder to prepare for than what we face today. This is also why veterans are so much more valuable in the post season than in the 82 games before it. Stick to your assignments, Win your matchups, Howard don't be a meat, and we should win.

Swim? Swammy? Slippy? Swanson....? Samsonite!! That was her name! #YesHeCandersson

ECQF Game 1 GTD: Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:00 ET

3-0 Red Wings. #1 - Andersson retrieves the puck coming up the boards, and buries a clapper from the half wall - fooling Ben Bishop. #2 - Andersson hammers one home from 36" - right after Quincey hits him the ass from the point. #3 - Andersson (who has earned full trust from the coaching staff) is out there protecting the 2-0 lead, unselfishly dishes the puck to Glendenning for the empty netter. I throw my hat at the TV in respect to El Chapo Andersson. #YesWeCandersson

    Mantha

No way we're on topic!Mantha is awful and Andersson is my choice for Conn Smythe. Let's try and get 3 more pages of people who think I'm being serious. Love this site. #YesWeCandersson LOL - Ok so he does have a pulse. How can it be overkill if you just got that it was a joke?
  7. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Right next to Jose Canseco on Twitter - you may be the most un-intentionally funny person on the Internet.Try and be more serious though
  8. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Right. Please don't board me with such meaningless justifications!!! If anyone can retrieve pucks for Pav we know it's Helm. #YesWeCandersson
  9. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Sorcery!!!You know what's wierd about the Mantha fans... They don't realize that all of the evidence they provide as to why he should be in the lineup - actually supports a guy like Teemu Pulkinnen even more. But he's 6'5!!! Which is good when you actually hit someone - irrelevant when you don't. If we are in desperate need of a proven AHL goal scorer who's lethal on the PP and afraid to hit someone, what makes Manthas resume better than Teemu's? Actually, what has Mantha ever done better than Pulkinnen at the AHL/NHL level across the board? Goals? Nope. Assists. Nope. Elite Defensive Play? Nope. Use of size? LOL #YesWeCandersson
  10. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Great idea genius. How the heck is El Chapo Andersson going to capture that elusive Conn Smythe from the AHL? Makes no sense to me. But MANTHA.... Nothing says "Top 6" in the NHL playoffs against the Stanley Cup runner up like 10 GP with 3 points to show for it.
  11. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Please don't refer to him as simply "Andersson". A player this deadly, deserves a deadly handle. It's #ElChapoAnderson to you pal.
  12. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Ahh I'm pretty sure I said Andersson was a battle hardened warrior, deadly as they come.

  14. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

Because Andersson is a battle hardened warrior, deadly as they come - worthy of all the ice time he gets. It takes Steph Curry 0.4 Seconds to score as many points as Mantha did in 10 games. #notdeadly #YesWeCandersson #ElChapoAndersson #YesYouCandersson Hold on, was that intelligence you just employed? I thought we weren't supposed to use such tools when discussing the potential impact a rookie will have in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? He had 3 points in 10 games... You mean he isn't going to solve all of our offensive problems even though we know he's awful defensively, and creates further stress on Pavel Datsyuk in his own end? Hmm.... So you're saying that relying on a veteran in a 4th line capacity, while allowing the elite superstar (in the making) - who by the way sucked absolute donkey d*** last year - to develop his game in Grand Rapids is not a terrible coaching decision? This seems too rational.

    Mantha

Mantha. has. 2. Godamn. Powerplay. Points....... Out Of 3 in total!!!!! Put me on the f****** thing for 10 games and I'll get that many!!!! No no, your right - he's the deadly offensive PP force we so desperately need. Perhaps a name change is almost in order: Mario Mantha? Perhaps Gordie Mantha? Dare I say Anthony Oates Mantha? Elegant. #YesWeCandersson #AndSoCanYou

    Mantha

Would all you girls stop whining!!!!! Just remember - you can't delete these comments after we win tomorrow night, and Andersson buries a hat-trick!!!!!!!!! Here's another stat - which I'm sure you experts will dissect immediately LOL: Mantha - 10 Career NHL Regular Season Games, playing on Datsyuks line + PP opportunity = 0.30 PPG Andersson - 22 Career NHL Playoff Games, playing on the 4th line without PP opportunity = 0.32 PPG I just hope the guy who engraves the Conn Smythe doesn't spell "Andersson" with only one "S" this June!!!!!!!!!!! #YesWeCandersson

Playoff Lines + Mantha Back to GR

Ahh I'd say we've been pretty good the past 25 years using our "over ripen" method... Only organization in the league that can say they made the playoffs every one of those years. That being said - I don't like the lines either.
  19. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

One small argument: Mantha recorded 66% of his points on the PP and doesn't kill penalties. Helm recorded 0% of his points on the PP and does kill penalties. Point being - The PPG/60 Minutes stats are skewed if you are trying to find out who is better offensively - when one player (Helm) spends a certain % of his minutes killing penalties, and the other (Mantha) spends a certain % of his minutes on the PP, but neither play both. Using 5on5 metrics is more helpful in determining this: Helm - 0.34 5vs5 PPG Mantha - 0.10 5vs5 PPG Not such a slam dunk.
  20. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

No because I actually agree that most people on this forum would vote for Mantha over Andersson lol. It's "Whipping boy" vs "Future Star" - who wouldn't ? But in my opinion, it doesn't mean that today Mantha is the better option - especially in a playoff environment.
  21. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

The same amount of money you said (last week) you would bet on Pavel Datsyuk returning next season? Funny how your tune changed on that one - just like it will about Mantha when we win this series against TB. #knowledge.

    Mantha

    lol grow up pal.
  23. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

lol again - not sure what your talking about. #1 - I never said Glendenning was a top 6 Forward. Please show me the post where that claim was made. #2 - I agree Helm is not an ideal 2nd line LW - but neither is Mantha at this point (obviously)... And we have who we have. #3 - Helm is more ideal on the 2nd line, than Mantha is on the either the 2nd or 4th line at this point. This is what is happening - not complicated/not surprising.
  24. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

You guys are cute but what exactly are you talking about? I don't think Anderson is "SO VALUABLE" at all - I think that on April 12th 2016, he is better suited for a 1st Round Playoff match-up on our 4th Line than Mantha is. Do I wish we had a better option on our 4th line? Obviously. Has Mantha shown he is a better option than Helm or Richards beside Datsyuk? No.
  25. WingedWheel91

    Mantha

If this is sarcastic - I love how you made it your last point. So this will be my last point, because I'm not sure how old you are but you obviously haven't played relevant enough hockey - nor do I feel like arguing with a teenager I have never met - that dismisses the value of +/-. My D1 college coach actually valued this statistic more so than goals or assists, and the playoffs are a chess match where defensive liability has a bigger impact than offensive potential. Aren't you the same guy that loves Brendan Smith and thinks he is better than Quincey? Good luck in the postseason with that mind set. Let me guess, I'm wrong again lol
