I can't even keep the whole injury list straight anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is it for tonight against the Ducks: Zetterberg Weiss Abdelkader Franzen DeKeyser Helm Andersson(?) Anyways, Sheahan isn't going to be a point-producing power forward. Not now or anytime soon, anyway. He's a defensive forward who may carve out a niche in the bottom-6. Maybe. Not expecting much from him.

Stamkos may be hurt, but St. Louis isn't. His enormous contribution to that team is lost in Stamkos' greatness.

I know he's produced next to nothing, but this is still bad news. My faith in him has started to erode, honestly. I should probably reserve said erosion for later on in the contract, but he's another guy I've spent a lot of time and energy defending (Howard...*sigh*...being the other). Anyways, this only increases the urgency for Helm to return healthy and ready to pick up where he left off. That's a long shot, however.

This thread was coming sooner or later. I can't understand the massive step backwards he's taken this year. He was improving for so long and I finally thought he might have earned a permanent spot with this lineup. Nowadays, however, I wouldn't mind if we got rid of him. He and Quincey are always good for at least two mind-numbing plays during a game.

I would love to think it would, but teams don't want our spare parts and a few unproven, boom-or-bust prospects for something worthwhile.

Yes, because the seasons they played when they were slightly better than useless are a great help to us now.

It's baffling, and it's not that they need to start magically winning in regulation or OT every night. It's not like they're trying every trick in the book and they're simply cursed. They just don't try. That's the problem. Can't remember a shooter of ours who actually tried to beat the goalie.

We've always gotten more out of Eaves than those three combined. Pretty much anyone contributes more than those three combined.

There's a lot less angry vitriol on this thread than I anticipated.

We needed a lot of things from this defense for this season to be successful. 1. Smith to start trending towards, at the very least, being a top-four offensive defenseman. 2. Kindl to continue to grow his game and contribute more and more as time went on. 3. Kronwall and Ericsson to stay healthy and play consistently well on the top pairing. 4. Quincey to be...well...any bit better. 5. DeKeyser to lock down a spot as a defensive defenseman in the top-4. None but one of those have happened (and I think it's pretty obvious which one it is), and not all for the fault of the player in question. Number 3 has half-happened, I suppose.

Yeah, but the only way to know if Howard has "picked it back up" is to...play him over Gus.

Even when fully healthy, Cleary will still be here. Has been all throughout this miserable, embarrassing season and he's not going anywhere.
